Paypal, a company to avoid where possible
I've had an account with paypal for around 25 years now and have found that on the occasions when there is a problem, paypal handle it badly. This review is about a recent ongoing experience that is being handled particularly unreasonably and will unfortunately result in a money claim online.
I am an MX5 specialist and sold a bespoke ECU, immobiliser and transponders set to an Italian Auto ECU specialist. The £300 paid through paypal, covered parts and the service of programming all the parts together, therefore testing and also making sure that the ECU powers up and produces the correct signal voltages for ignition coils, cam and crank. These tests guarantee these parts will work together and that the ECU will run the car. Usually the immobiliser or the ECU are replaced individually, hence the need for the bespoke system for this company. They insisted on having all the parts as were unable to qualify the actual problem.
They install the electronic parts on their customer's car and when the ignition is turned on, the security light appears on the dash as normal, meaning that the ECU is talking to the immobiliser. The light would go out if the car started but this company could not get the car to start. This company immediately blamed my tested parts but very clearly there was another issue with the car. As ECU specialists, not MX5 specialists, they were clearly out of their depth. I spent hours trying to explain that they needed to do a diagnostic check on the car to see what the problem actually was. I also explained how to confirm the working condition of my parts on another MX5 or alternatively another ECU set on their customer's car. They did nothing, so at least two hours of my time wasted trying to advise and insisted that my parts were at fault and they wanted to return for a full refund. I would have accepted a return but not on the basis of the parts not working until proven and if, as expected the parts were in the condition supplied, ie working, I would only refund part of the money paid as my time, programming and testing, postage, etc would need to be paid for.
The Italian company start a case on paypal to request a return of parts that are faulty and my money is immediately held. I respond to this with a very poor review on trustpilot, in italian, for the Italian company in the hope that their MX5 customer will see it, a full explanation to paypal and I initiate raising the case to a claim in the hope that paypal will be reasonable. Oh no, they are totally unreasonable and add a note on the claim to the effect that the Italian company return the parts and if returned in the same condition as supplied, they will get a full refund. I question this as the parts were supplied in tested working condition and as the reason for return is faulty parts, their judgment is unreasonable and makes no sense. They respond by adjusting the return to just a requirement to return the parts for a full refund.
I have told paypal that I will refuse delivery of the return if there is demand for payment of any sort, VAT/clearance fees. I will also initiate an MCOL to recover my money and compensation from paypal. The most annoying thing about this is the incompetent and dishonest Italian company will likely get a full refund whatever happens.
Paypal have been absolutely dreadful and not for the first time from my experience. If you are possibly exposed to this sort of issue I would seriously advise giving paypal as a payment medium a very wide berth.
Thank you for listening.

As a very long time user permanently limited
As a very long time user, PayPal permanently limited my account while attempting to purchase sharpening stones from a gentleman in Indonesia. They refuse to explain exactly what I did wrong according to them and they have my funds tied up for 120 days 4 months before I am to receive my funds, no interests and I have read where PayPal actually has stolen this money from other people. I don't see how this is legal or ethical. I have been a PayPal customer over 30 years never had such a problem. I don't know what their major malfunction is but taking someone's money and refusing to explain their actions and even giving you a chance to rebuttal whatever it is they think you violated seems extremely unprofessional and should be illegal. I am just documenting this and hope I can save others from this pitiful unethical corrupt company they have evolved too. I can see a possible class action lawsuit coming their way and while I am not one to generally sue, I will make an exception if such class action lawsuit manifests.
My account is fraudulent.
For two years I have on several occasions tried to make PayPal understand that the account under my name is fraudulent but nobody listens. All I get is a message or email advising to login and alter the account. How am I supposed to login to an account I never setup, obviously I don’t have the password and if I choose the option it lists a phone number that PayPal are going to ring me on, unfortunately that phone number is not mine therefore I cannot answer and I’ve been in this hell loop for two years. I have today reported PayPal to the police as my only option to get some action.
They are never help with anything
They are never help with anything. If someone takes your money it’s gone. I provided them with more than enough proof and evidence on my case and I lost all of my money because they didn’t have enough proof. They blocked my payment and made me have to pay overdue fees
Shithouse
So like I would say I’m an online shopping pro and my PayPal is something I used to trust. Have a problem with a transaction? Retailer no help? It’s okay, at least I have PayPal. They will fight for my consumer rights and get my money back. But today I realised, PayPal has gone to the dark side. They are no longer for buyers. They’re out to protect sellers selling faulty goods. Bogus quality junk that I returned fully expecting a refund but no. PayPal says no. Yea, I think I’ve had enough. Even the greatest civilisations in the world eventually fade into the abyss aka Rome, PayPal is going downhill fast.
Wouldn’t even give them 1 star
Wouldn’t even give them 1 star. Money greedy.
USA politicians sold their Paypal shares. More trouble is coming ...
I never forget when USA politicians were selling their Paypal shares. I instantly took my funds out of it. Now out of a sudden, 60 € is deducted from my balance, while no transaction is mentioned. I want to file a case, but Paypal doens't support customer care in the weekend. Let's see where this is gonna end.
Most Retailers Don't Accept PayPal Virtual Credit Card
Of the 3 things I wanted to buy using the credit card, only one retailer accepted the paypayl virtual credit card meaning I had to pay cash for the other 2 items. Completely defeats the point of having a credit card and I'm extremely annoyed at PP. I won't ever be using any of their products again
The buyer protection worth nothing…
The buyer protection worth nothing avoid the payment with paypal if you want your money secured.
charged for a cancelled subscription
charged for a cancelled subscription, nearly impossible to open a case and then closed by a bot because they ‘dont cover digital purchases’
Worst payment processor ever conceived.
They limited my account on a money transfer and asked for personal information from me and info from my clients and when I provided both They limited my account permanently, held my money as collateral, and won't even let me close my account as their system says I have disputes open when I don't.
Alternatives for this shit heap of a company can't come fast enough, stay far away.
Scam company
Long story short, the people who work there use google to take from accounts . I've had an open fraud cause for a month. whenever i call about it they keep giving me the same answer, and even worse talking to me like I did something wrong, they sound like the people who call to scam you out your money . GOOGLEADS purchases get made on paypal accounts and a lot of the employees are in on it
What kinda business
Guys all I wanted to do is buy a bike.
Cadence performance is the store and for some reason the only payment that helps customers is the infamous PAYPAL

I would report this to the authorities but UK and America understand their all in it together.id rather pay full.which is probably what cadence performance wants.im so disappointed and disgusted that u mix with such likes Says alot about the price points and no empathy for the state of things i.e price.i tried and like all your points that you and PayPal and all scummy businesses are not here for the customer anymore.i hope all this karma is making the way to those who smile at people in literal pain.so bad guys
PayPal is like Iran, don’t live up to their agreements
I ordered a new washer and dryer from BestBuy and paid thru PayPals 6 months free interest program. That’s what I was lead to believe, until they removed the funds from my bank account. I am 81 years old and I’m. 100%P&T veteran, on a fixed income. When PaPay pulled all of my available funds, they put me and my family in a world of financial hurt. I’ve attempted to go thru PayPal’s dispute but can only talk to a computer. Be very careful of using PayPal. I’m going to Apple Pay or Google Pay after this gets resolved.
Paypal helping Chinese scammers by believing bogus delivery stories
If I could give negative 1 I would. I filed a dispute against one of those sleazy Facebook ads for a cat toy that never came. Disputed the charge & the Chinese company provided some bogus shipping info that said I "refused" delivery, so they wouldn't refu d the money. In fact, there never was a delivery, and if there had been it should have gone I to my mailbox & was not anything that needed personal acceptance by me. These people are scammers & Paypal is supporting them by believing them over me - a long term paypal customer who has never filed a bogus dispute. Imagine believing that a small flying bird cat toy would need to be signed for I. Delivery! The story is ridiculous, but paypal believes it so I'm out $39. BtW, NEVER ORDER ANYTHING OFF A FACEBOOD AD!! YOU THINK YOU ARE GETTING SOMETHING SHIOOED FROM USA WHEN REALKY IT'S CHINA, HONG KONG, DENMARK OR WHEREVER & TAKES 3 MOS TO ARRIVE IF IT COMES AT ALL!

I ordered a pallet deal but received a small mystery package, after contacting the seller several times they agreed a 70% refund, I escalated this to PayPal after they told me I had buyer protection, they closed the case in seller’s favour saying the item is not covered buy buyer protection, as a result PayPal has lost me the offer of a 70% refund, absolutely would not recommend using PAYPAL
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. The AI chatbox is useless and then you wait ages for a real person and then if it takes more than 2 minutes to reply they end the chat. Useless!!
what a big scum Paypal is.
what a big scum Paypal is.
You purchase something through Paypal credit and have promotional offer but if there is any partial refund, they incorrectly deduct the partial refund and still take Direct Debit from your account just to charge you more every time. Even after checking the statements and going over with them one by one, they still fumble and make you to accept their wrong calculations are justified. I dont't know for how many years I have been victim of this. Still no result. Please double check your statements every month and watch out for this scam.
Paypal Credit Card offers no protection
I was scammed by an on line shop a few months ago. I paid with my paypal credit card. The company used a false address that actually belonged to a different company, sent me a very inferior garment, at first refused a full refund would only offer a small percentage, they then refused to send me a return address. This company suddenly changed their trading name, and after many months finally sent me a refund note, but refund has not been paid yet. I contacted PayPal Credit Card, but according to them they don't see any wrong doing from this company and will not assist in any way for me to get my refund. Paypal Credit Card gives you no protection as a buyer. Beware you put yourself at risk with this credit card.
The ban you from their site for no…
The ban you from their site for no reason. They said my wife was buying stuff from shady vendors. If you know you have shady vendors you as a company need to take care of it. They do this to keep from refunding your money when you do get scammed. I will tell everyone I see what terrible company they are shit look at the reviews that tells you everything you need to know.
