I'm not quite sure what this is but it certainly isn't shortbread. As an expat based in China, I took my wife and 6-year-old daughter back to Scotland for the first time. I asked my parents to prepare... See more
We used to buy this shortbread every week unfortunately to reduce the package weight the biscuits were made much thinner. This has resulted in the flavour and texture of the biscuit being compromised.... See more
Really bad quality shortbread. How can you possibly classify these as shortbread when you can't even taste the butter?? Definitely the result of using more oil than butter to cut down on costs and... See more

Now Crap
What the hell have you done! Your company deserve to go bust ! Think you have been overpowered by the health crap we are force fed , oil instead of butter , your going to lose a lot of customers , collect your P45 .
Very disappointed
This shortbread tastes stale with the texture of cardboard. I was really disappointed with the product. It's not the sort of thing you usually write a review about but it was so awful I looked here to see if there was possibly just a bad batch, but no, it seems to be the experience of many others over some time. If there was a zero stars option I would have given it just that. I'd like to hear what the company has to say about this, but they don't seem to care as they have not responded to anyone's comments.
Never tasted Shortbread like this
Never tasted Shortbread like this, could not eat and threw the whole packet in the bin.

THEY DO TASTE STALE ALONG WITH NO BUTTERY TASTE WHATSOEVER!
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MY TREAT MONEY. I ALLOW MYSELF 1 £2.50 TREAT A WEEK, THIS WEEK I DECIDED ON MY FAVORITES. BUT I ATE JUST ONE, NOW IN THE BIN.
I'M DISAPPOINTED AND CROSS.
Won't be buying these again
Won't be buying these again. Something definitely missing in the ingredients. More like diabetic shortbread. Just moved to Scotland won't be buying these ever again
Very disappointed
Very disappointed. Right away they looked thin, and the taste just didn’t happen. NOT shortbread. Tried several to be sure but the expected taste just wasn’t there.
Replacing most of the butter with rapeseed oil, while healthier, has RUINED them.
Even the dogs were reluctant to try a piece.
Dear Patersons,
Dear Patersons,
I received your Scottish Shortbread Fingers for Christmas. I didn't not open them until February 19th. They are stale. I'm very disappointed because I loved your cookies. However these one with rapeseed oil are really bad, all I can taste is stale rapeseed oil.
I'm truly disappointed that I can't enjoy my favorite cookies.
Clotted cream shortbread made with…
Clotted cream shortbread made with rapeseed oil tastes like old frying oil couldn't eat them . Have been a chef for 35 years never written a review before this product gives shortbread a bad name .
I used to love these shortbreads
I used to love these shortbreads. Then shrinkflation happened. Far too thin and crispy. Stopped buying them now.
Not nice!
Hate to write a bad review but yuk!
I absolutely love shortbread biscuits, a crumbly, buttery treat. Have bought these when all the others have sold out. Ended up feeding them to the birds after tasting them.
Hard, oily and just really unpleasant and nothing like shortbread... If you love shortbread, don't buy these!
Quality of Patersons shortbread biscuits
Had box of Patersons Heritage & Jam Shortbread biscuits for Christmas and we were looking forwards to eating them, they were in date (March 2024) but they were absolutely ghastly, flavourless, no butter taste whatsoever, the nicest thing was the box with the Scotties on, my hairdresser spat hers down the toilet but the birds ate them. I did complain and received £4 in vouchers but can only buy more Shortbread by the same company, so if that's the case the vouchers are useless like their shortbread.
At least the birds will be well fed, very disappointed to say the least.
They need to look at their recipe and act on it.

Terrible taste like they’ve gone off
Terrible taste like they’ve gone off, leave horrible after taste, don’t buy, supermarket own brands are the best.
WORST SHORTBREAD
Worst shortbread I’ve ever had - I took one mouthful and then chucked the rest in the bin (along with the rest of the packet).
Definitely won’t be buying it again.
Poor Flavour in Paterson’s Shortbread.
I was very disappointed in Paterson’s new recipe which used clotted cream. There is still some butter in the recipe but I couldn’t taste it and the shortbread has the consistency of a biscuit rather than shortbread.
It certainly doesn’t get my recommendation. The packet still says ‘Britain’s No.1 shortbread’ and i wonder if that refers to sales figures, flavour or something else.
It is certainly off my shopping list!
they took away the butter so it tastes…
they took away the butter so it tastes bad
Not buttery...just tastes of oil.
Not buttery...just tastes of oil.
Supermarket own brands far more buttery and tasty.
I don't even call them biscuits but…
I don't even call them biscuits but rubbish my wife persists every time in buying new products that they sponsor on TV frankly as soon as I tried to taste one it gave me the impression of tasting a piece of rotten fish then reading the ingredients I was disconcerted palm rapeseed niacin etc etc here's the disgusting taste probably reading the reviews here on trustpilot I deduced that the English have rightly reviewed in a negative way now through advertising sponsors they are trying to place them in Italy but they have done the math very badly however thrown in the undifferentiated absolutely not to buy
No longer a decent shortbread biscuit.
No longer a decent shortbread biscuit.
Reduced in size and the texture is nothing like it used to be. Very thin and just like a plain biscuit. Won't be buying any more.
Not shortbread
What went wrong? They have made a shortbread fit for the 21st century so like most things these days it is rubbish. This is not short bread it is a cheap but expensive biscuit. What a shame yet, one more of life's pleasures gone and they know full well what they have done. This is not shortbread by any stretch of the imagination.
