Bad experience and false smoking fee
It was very hot in our room and we couldn’t seem to get the heater to go lower so we slept with the windows open. The TV didn’t work and we had no channels and we tried to use the Google Chromecast, but it never worked but the worst part was we couldn’t check out by the TV so I went to the front desk to check out and then I was hit with a $500 smoking fee when none of us smoked in the room. I’m the only person who does vape and I went downstairs a few times, but never in the room. I asked for a manager who was very dismissive and asked since the windows were always open Could something like that have drifted in or maybe the girls curling irons and they said no. I couldn’t stand there and argue because my daughter had a college tour I called from the car and I was told I could get a copy of the results from the smoke detector within one hour and if not, I would get a call back, three hours went by and I called back. I was told that Manager was unavailable and I would get a call and never did again. I called four hours after that asking for a copy of the receipt and to speak with the manager and was told she would call me back, but they would send me a receipt. I had them verify my email and I never got one. I’ve since googled this hotel and smoking fee and I see tons of reports of the exact same thing with people saying they never smoked and many of them weren’t even smokers. I don’t know if it’s extremely sensitive and it can pick up, smells off people’s clothes or how it even works, but they did very little to answer any of my questions and never called back multiple times when promised it really sounds like this is some type of scam and still waiting for a response days later.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay from January 30 through February 1. After checking out, I was charged an outrageous $565 smoking fee, despite the fact that neither I nor my guest smoked at any time during our stay.
This charge is completely unfounded and unacceptable. We were respectful of the property and followed all hotel policies. To make matters worse, I have made multiple attempts to contact the hotel for clarification and resolution, yet I have received little to no assistance. The lack of response and accountability is very concerning.
Charging guests such a significant fee without clear evidence and then failing to properly address the dispute raises serious questions about the hotel’s business practices. At this point, I will be escalating this matter by filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and exploring further options to dispute this charge.
I would strongly advise future guests to review their final bill carefully and be aware of potential unjust charges. Until this issue is resolved, I cannot recommend staying at this property.
Avoid disappointment
Very bad hygiene. When we first arrived the hotel room floor were as if concrete sandbags were rubbed in to the carpet didn’t feel comfortable to sleep or to even use the room and the shower as there was mould in corners and behind soap dispenser when we told the manager about this, she said that all the rooms were the same and that this wasn’t the hotel for us It had been very difficult with us paying through travel agent to move hotels we had to stay. was told this was a non-smoking hotel and any smoking or vaping , that you would be fined to do so on my second night there was a strong smell of weed on my floor. This went on for two nights. When using the hairdryer the electricity in the room had cut out when telling the manager about this she said ‘did you use the hairdryer? Yeah it does that.’ Explaining our stay to several managers leaving details and being told we would be contacted when back in the UK turns out I have been given fake emails and every time I called I had the phone ended on me would avoid to avoid disappointment.
Worst hotel experience
Worst hotel experience. From an outdated rooms, tiny bathroom, bad service, TV channels that don't work, to dirty walls. The toilet paper holder was broken and roll kept falling. Housekeeping came to clean room and left 2 clean towels, after taking 4 used ones. We called the front desk 4 times to request the additional towels, and even after going to speak with the front manager, it still took over an hour to get clean towels. The room cleaning lady left a pair or dirty cleaning gloves on the floor of the room. The walls were dirty and more than half of the channels on the TV line up had no service. Find another option.
Great location, awful customer service …
The hotel was nice and the location was great but our room had no hot water. We stayed there in December and the weather was freezing. It would have been nice to be able to take a warm shower. When we brought this to the hotel, management did not seem to care and were not accommodating at all. They refused a full and even partial refund.
Horrible !!
I’ve stayed at Park Central Hotel New York before and never had major issues, but this last experience was unacceptable. The hotel charged my room twice, and instead of refunding the deposit as they should have, they used it as an extra payment without any authorization.
Trying to resolve this has been a nightmare. The staff refused to correct their mistake and offered no solution, leaving me to deal with Booking.com on my own to get my money back.
A hotel at this price point should at least be able to manage basic billing correctly. The lack of responsibility and customer support was extremely disappointing.
Sadly, after this experience, I won’t be returning.
Stayed here recently with my family
Stayed here recently with my family. Not bad but not great. Yes - I would stay again if the prices remain appropriate.
I stayed at the hotel
I stayed at the hotel, paid for seven nights, but had to leave after three. I contacted the hotel, but they don't respond to emails or phone calls! This is a hotel to AVOID in New York.
Hotel was in a great location and…
Hotel was in a great location and couldn’t have asked for anywhere more central, I was so excited to be so close both to Times Square and Central Park so loved this. Myself and my daughter stayed here for a week from June 11th
Everything was great until the day before coming home, I had a bag ‘taken’ from our room with all my dirty clothes in, spoke to management who were really helpful but unfortunately no one claimed they had moved the bag and upon checking out the next we were told the destination fee of nearly $300 would be wavered and put back on the credit card, been home over a month now, they stopped responding to my emails and needless to say the money has not gone back on the credit card. Would have stayed here in the future but after this unfortunately won’t use them again
Mixed impression with some outstanding service
We spent 2 nights at this hotel with children. The rooms were just about right size, the bathroom wasn't great for a 4 star hotel but it was ok. At reception at check in we had mixed feelings but after returning from a holiday after 1 week Anna at reception was amazing. We left my daughters little stuffed bunny in the room and together with securtiy they managed to find it. She has also arranged that we could leave our luggages at the hotel for a few hours. Anna did the extra few steps which were maybe just a few minutes of her time but made the difference from OK to outstanding. THANK YOU! :-)
Disappointing on so many levels
Rude reception staff, broken heating in the room. Window in room doesn't close properly.
Security deposit taken at check-in. $100 per night per room. Unable to check-in unless you pay. Massive impact on our trip as not able to access those funds. Then told it could take 3 weeks to return the money!!!
No tea or coffee facilities in the room.
Bar in hotel was closed on Sundays and Mondays
Hotel has a great central location but definitely not 4 star and won't be staying again and wouldn't recommend to anyone
Excellent Hotel,Excellent location
Best Hotel beside Central Park…Times Square within walking distance…Subway on 7th ave across the road…Excellent location…Great Staff
Hidden cost do not declared before
I booked using a eDreams package and then hotel added "Destination fee" not specified before in the contract with eDreams. eDreams said they cannot control this cost and to contact direcly the hotel. During the checkout the hotel said the same and eDreams should declare this cost. It is not correct do not explain why for this "destination fee" and is not correct do not have any advanced explanation about this hidden cost.

Stayed 3 times ,every year same story with lifts ,they don't work and will never be fixed also charged for smoking and don't smoke ,but I believe its a Scam
Lovely beautiful lobby but
Lovely beautiful lobby. Rooms basic after seeing lobby you think rooms going to be gorgeous, but not. Lifts are such a pain wait half an hour for a lift. On last day daughter got 500 an odd bill slid under door for vaping which was deodorant and had already been taking of credit card. So be aware
Time wasted waiting
The hotel elevators were down at times only one working at busy times of the day. It took over 20 minutes to get off of the 4th and we ended up taking the stairs. Which were not easy to even find. I reported the first day that food had been missed when the room was cleaned from the last person and at day 3 it was still there. The service elevator worked but it was equally slow and smelled like garbage when you exited at the ground floor. The only reason u gave this a 2 star was the people working were really nice and the beds were good. We were unable to get the heat to turn off so we had to open the window. We reported that day one with no help. It is too bad that we ended up spending hours of our trip waiting on the elevators because that was the only real bad part of our trip. The hotel is in a great location but if you decide to stay take in consideration the elevator situation is a real pain and apparently been going on for over a year.
Elevators are always out of service ..
Elevators are always out of service ... for a 25 floors building with hundreds guests is a quiete big problem. Old bathrooms. last but not least the unfair and untold "destination fee" (38$ per day) for poor services, nobody told me clearly about this tax and the benefit included . Is a hidden cost unfair, I suggest to choose anything else .
Housekeeping is extremely poor
Housekeeping is extremely poor. My bathroom was not cleaned. I have to keep repeating my request to have my room cleaned at 10. Staff leave bags of dirty linen outside rooms.
Definitely will not be returning.
Rip off hotel
Nice hotel modern rooms which are very clean. But a Facilities Tax added to your bill by slipping a sheet of paper under your door on your last night which added over £200 to our bill for 1 week stay. Nobody informed us of this Tax till said paper slid under the door. Feel ripped off and put a proper downer on our holiday
Stayed there 2 times, first great, second awful
I stayed there 2 times, each for 7-8 nights.
- The first week I got a beautiful room in good shape and at a good price. No issues with it.
- The second time, I got a much worse room, more expensive, which had broken things (the toilet paper thingy was broken, the mirror had heavy wear, etc).
They were supposed to be the same quality.
What would I get the next time I stay there if I go?
