Get woke, hopefully go broke

Any organization that refers to women as “pregnant people” should not receive donations, ever. Then again, most international aid organizations are wasteful, useless and corrupt so it’s very fitting. Don’t donate to these types of organizations, especially child sponsorship which is a total sham.

Oxfam sells my personal information to 3rd parties without my consent.

After being a monthly contributor for a year, I realized that Oxfam had sold my personal information to a large group of other non-profit companies, without my consent. I know that Oxfam did it because I used with them a different version of my surname that only Oxfam had. Now, I constantly get bombarded by 3rd party mails in my letterbox, and I have to optout to each one individually, and expect a new organization every week. Very sad that my money to them is not enough.

Hi there,

Thank you providing this feedback and for your kind support of Oxfam's life-changing programs around the world! Oxfam America is funded solely through private donations like yours and we occasionally share information with like-minded organizations to make donors aware of other causes they may be interested in supporting. This also allows prospective new members the opportunity to join Oxfam in our life-saving work.

We apologize for the frustration this has caused! Oxfam America respects the privacy of its supporters and we are more than happy to honor your wishes and make changes to your account at any time. You can email us at donorinfo@oxfamamerica.org with your details so we can update your account!

Additionally, to be removed from all lists that organizations share, you can subscribe to the Direct Marketing Association (www.dmachoice.org). By subscribing, you should be eliminated from many of the direct mail solicitations you may now be receiving.

Best wishes,
Donor Relations Team

Very impressive

7-8 years ago I tried to set up something similar in nature in Nicaragua. The strategy was pretty simple; 1. buy a couple of cows. 2. rent some land to keep the cows. 3. hire someone to take care of the cows 4. sell at rock bottom price or give away any resulting calves to the hired caretakers. And for the locals it just didn't make sense, it was something different, something NOT normal, and the end result was constant friction and barriers. (Why do you want to buy cows? But you don't live here all the time... Who's going to watch your cows when you're away? You won't be able to check to see that your cows are being cared for.... and on and on) Ya know I wanted to help, but I wasn't going to just hand out $$. These things are difficult, and just 'cuz you have a noble cause doesn't translate into understanding, cooperation, and support at the local level. So when I first read about Oxfam I was gob-smacked. Here is an organization that persevered in helping people help themselves. To say the least I'm very impressed. Keep goin' guys and gals, you're doing great work.

I know Oxfam does a good job…

I know Oxfam does a good job researching how charitable entities do in their transparency, % of funds rec'd that go to actual service, or marketing, or administrative salaries/expenses. So I'm confident my giving really helps!

Peaceful

Peaceful, respectful of the people you help, not as objects, but as relatives in one human family. Blessings.

A Very Disappointing Result

The work you on the ground is admirable. However, since I donated to you a week or so ago, you have sent me two rather peremptory demands for a review. Such demands (not requests) are insane giving the timing of my donation. I find your behavior so annoying that I will be sure to tell others about it. I will NOT donate again.

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for supporting Oxfam and for taking the time to share this feedback! Reviews are important as they allow us to improve our systems while raising awareness of our work, and reviewing while the donation experience is fresh in your mind is most helpful. However, it is never our intention to cause frustration and we have removed you from our email list.

Please let us know if there is ever anything else we can help you with. We hope to reconnect with you in the future and continue fighting the injustice of poverty together!

Best wishes,
Donor Relations Team

Great charity

Great charity. Happy to donate. But, I just don't want to be contacted for additional donations. I donate irregularly to only a few charities of which Oxfam is now included. However, I prefer to do so if and when I'm able. Once I pick a charity, I will make additional donations as it becomes possible. Thanks!

Have not experienced Oxfam "America"…

Have not experienced Oxfam "America" per se. Have strictly appreciated Oxfam's interventions and efforts throughout the world. May I also point out that I reside in Canada, that my contribution of $50. was intended for OXFAM and not specifically Oxfam "America". I am, therefore, NOT happy with the fact that my donation was converted to US$ when debiting my credit card. I find this unethical and will not be donating again.

Hello,

Thank you for your kind support of Oxfam's work and for providing this feedback! It appears you may have reached Oxfam America's website (oxfamamerica.org) when donating, rather than Oxfam Canada's website (oxfam.ca) - we apologize for any confusion!

While both Oxfam America and Oxfam Canada support Oxfam's work in more than 90 countries around the world, we understand your frustration and will reach out by email to try and find a solution!
