Sold a van with known faults and dodgy service logs

Travelled 150 miles to pick up a VW Transporter, when I arrived and checked the van over, the owner said “don’t put your foot down, These vans don’t like it” - a very odd thing to say, especially about a Bi turbo DSG van (very nippy) and responsive engine.

When leaving the dealership to get fuel
For the drive home, I put my foot down and the vans engine cut out!

Pulled over to restart the engine and drove off, only for it to happen again a mile Down the road, and then a THIRD time getting onto the M60 doing under 70mph.

I had to pay RAC recovery £85 to collect me as that’s the registered vehicle charge. During this time the dealership were ignoring all
My calls. When me and the recovery lorry arrived back at the dealership the owner was there (who sold me the van) and he almost instantly said “you put your foot down” - he the took it for a test drive, put his foot down and the issue happened again! A fault he clearly knew about.

This then meant I had to spend another £80 on more train tickets home, and 5hrs more travel.

The next day they reported that it was a fuel pressure sensor issue, fair enough. But when I asked for the diagnostic report and ETA on delivery to me ( they offered to deliver) I was just ignored. Then a day after that they replied to say there are more problems and that they will refund me!

Oh and to top it off, the AC was faulty and the touchscreen for the head unit was faulty too!

So after a good 16hrs of travelling that day, £160 in train tickets, Insurance deposit, £1,000 van deposit, tax costs, and £85 RAC recovery I’m left without my dream vehicle and had to cancel the family camping trip planned with our new family transporter.

Going by previous reviews on the internet for this place, it’s clear that they often sell faulty vehicles.

So now I have to wait a month to two for the refund and compensation, and to be able
To apply for finance again to be able to look for another transporter.

Oh and the cherry on the top? The van had two log books, one for the actual van with only two entries since 2016, and another for a VW Passat or similar with numerous entries, but included the cambelt and water pump replacement for the van. Very suspicious!

Absolute shambles. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Highly disappointing experience — misrepresentation and refusal to cooperate

I purchased a Hyundai i40 from OTR Motors around June 2025, under the impression I was getting a vehicle in full working order. The dealer repeatedly claimed that several components were “new” — namely, all four tyres, the battery, and a rear-view camera.

However:
1) One front tyre had only 3mm tread (22% life), as confirmed by an independent inspection at Halfords just one month post-purchase. That tyre had to be replaced immediately.
2) The rear-view camera, clearly advertised as included in their original car listing, was found unplugged and defective.
3) The day after purchase the car wouldn’t start — the battery, claimed to be new, was faulty and later replaced only after I raised the issue.
4) Despite claiming a full service by “Bysha Limited” had been recorded in the service book, no documentation or invoice was ever provided, and this company appears not to be active since 2022.

When I raised these issues, OTR Motors not only refused refunds but also sent rude messages (“our fault for selling to customers like you”) and offered no proof of purchase, service, or fitting records. This pattern of misrepresentation and dodging responsibility is completely unacceptable.

If you value honesty, documentation, and fair treatment, I strongly advise exercising caution with OTR Motors Ltd.
