You must be joking tried to cancel this holiday in may you said i couldn't anyway no questionnaire came to me this is booked with you out of 7 days after 2 days we pack up and came home one thing would have stated that it was not suitable for disabled people soon as we walked in we could smell the damp our towels were damp after of bit investigation we found all these pots everywhere collecting water i suffer with asthma and having a strange dog coming in . We would strongly advise avoiding this property. On arrival, the apartment was not cleaned and was left in an unacceptable condition, which caused significant disruption to our trip. After raising our concerns, the homeowner refused to accept responsibility, insisting that no compensation was deserved simply because the apartment was eventually cleaned later that night.
What made matters worse was the lack of care or accountability from the owner, who clearly does not prioritise the comfort or experience of paying guests. This attitude was both disappointing and frustrating.
The only positive was the cleaner who kindly came on her own time (while on annual leave) to address the issue late on a Sunday evening. Thanks to her, the apartment was finally habitable by around 10:45pm. She did an excellent job under difficult circumstances and deserves recognition — but this does not excuse the homeowner’s negligence.
Unfortunately, due to this experience, we would never book this property again. Future guests deserve to know that the owner’s lack of responsibility means you may not get the standard of service you expect or deserve.

Lovely house
Lovely house, location, landlords & hot tub! We arrived late and were shown straight to the cold Prosecco and hot tub, perfect after a long drive.
Loads of space in the house, welcome to use the garden too, which was really helpful with our dogs. Bedrooms were big, really nice bathrooms.

Stayed her for 4 nights with my partner who made the booking and my 10 year old bichon frise Bella.
I have my partner`s permission to write this review and it is a true reflection of our feelings about our experience.
I noted on 2nd day no smoke or heat alarms. No windows in the only bedroom upstairs and no door to the bedroom. I made owner aware of legal requirments and risk to guests. Noted written information by Original cottages stated there were smoke alarms and indicated frequent risk assessment about fire safety.
Owners 2 Bernese mountain dogs allowed to roam and come to the cottage door with a large window and no covering on it and they also came to the patio outside area. On two occasions they managed to came inside. In the owner`s absence, I advised the house sitter, owner`s daughter and then the owner when she arrived back after an overnight stay at a wedding that I was very frightened of her large dogs when they had jumped up on me and so was my little dog. I describe myself as a older person small in stature but my expressed fears made no difference and as a result we could not sit in the patio area assigned to the cottage.
Some areas in the cottage were unclean especially noted when I pulled the settee out and under the side table where dirt and dog hairs accumulated.
The rug in the sitting area was stained in many places underneath.
I have taken photos of these areas.
The furnishings are basic, some skirting boards coming off the walls with dog hairs trapped and no cupboards for groceries. The bed comfortable and toilet/shower were clean and fit for purpose.
The farm lies in a lovely picturesque area.
Overall a disappointing experience and overpriced for what is on offer.
With improvements as described above the accommodation has the potential to be a beautiful little place to stay.

spacious cottage with a good view. large enough so that you did not have to be in one group in one room but could spread out. wood heated hot tub was great Stairs could possibly be a bit hazardous for the elderly. Great week in this cottage
Great week in two adjacent cottages in Southwold . Quality of equipment good plus thoughtful treats on arrival in both. Space at a premium in bedroom of Mole End, used as an addition to Garden cottage, cannot comment on living space.
Garden Cottage cooker was challenging unreliable needs service. 4 hand towels for 8 guest maybe have been an oversight. Reliability solely on the internet for information/instructions not ideal.
Misinformation on website as to layout and configuration dealt with promptly prior to arrival.

Just to make aware valued customers like myself who have been a customer of Holiday Cottages.co.uk, for a number of years. This company Original Cottages are APPARENTLY their Sister Company who are charging more for the booking fee than any other company I’ve booked & dealt with over 30 years & also an ADDED £40 damages fee which is NON Refundable, even when you leave the property with no damage & left it spotlessly clean, your £40 is gone. This company charges more booking fee + an extra £40 damages fee but when you want to access your account the website is down & then the next day you receive an email advising you that they are too busy to cope with emails & now you have to deal and have been transferred to Holiday Cottages which is who I booked with originally. Would I ever book with either of these companies again - that’s a big Fat No & there are other holiday companies to deal with that thankfully I don’t have to.
Disappointing Experience with Original Cottages (Booked via Airbnb)
We booked a property in Grange-over-Sands through Airbnb, which turned out to be managed by Original Cottages. We paid in full at the time of booking, including an unexpected “pet services” fee—even though the listing stated the property was pet-friendly.
We received several confirmation messages, including one just eight days before our arrival. Then, without warning or explanation, they cancelled only four days before our trip. To do this at such short notice is unconscionable.
Thankfully, Airbnb handled the situation professionally. They issued a full refund promptly and offered support in finding alternative accommodation—important for us, as we had taken time off work and were travelling with an elderly grandparent.
What’s especially frustrating is that, at the time of writing this review, the property is still listed as available for the same dates on the Original Cottages website.
Lovely property but terrible Customer Services
We loved the house we rented in Fowey, which had great views of the estuary and was in a good location, but it was not without it's issues. When we arrived there was no power to the kitchen appliances, which we feel should have been spotted when it was being serviced.
Original cottages did arrange for a handyman to visit that evening to rig up an extension for the fridge and the problem was fixed the following day by the electricians.
This did impact on our enjoyment the first evening and following morning as we were there to celebrate some milestone family birthdays and having to contact the agent out of hours was not straightforward.
I followed this up when we arrived home but have had no response to 3 phone calls and 3 follow-up emails to the company (all different email addresses, as advised from the 3 different agents!). The fourth time I contacted them, they could find no trace of any emails or phone calls and were unable to put me through to customer complaints. I was told someone would phone me, but they never have.
I would not use this company again. Everything seems to work ok until there is a problem, then their Customer Complaints fails completely.
Original Cottages seems to be under the umbrella of Travel Chapter and you just get fobbed off between Original Cottages and the parent company. Very poor service.
Beautiful cottage
We had a truly wonderful stay. Simon and his family were very accommodating, providing top tips for the local area and even a grill and fire wood for our bbq. The surrounding area was also lovely and being woken up by the birdsong was a definite highlight. Would most certainly stay here again if coming back to Black Torrington.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE/COMPLAINTS
Firstly. This company has a disgraceful complaints department. They do not reply to emails or calls as they should, and they can't be bothered to deal with issues.
Secondly i would use another cottage company. Weve used lots of others who are far better than these who will be interested when you complain...Stayed in a cottage recently with a family group. The cottage was dirty with lots of problems of which you are fully aware
In response to your reply. Looks rather standard to me, the worry is that you want such a vast amount of time to deal with complaints that you must have quite a lot. Why do you remove links to feedback from your follow up emails when you have a complaint.

Sea Salt Cottage, Whitby.
This is the second year running that our party of four friends have stayed in this lovely cottage for the Whitby Goth Weekend. The location is VERY central. The cottage had everything we needed and was a home from home. When we return to Whitby in the future, we will stay here again!

Jane was an exceptional host who made us a lemon cake (absolutely delicious) and left some other goodies for us as well.
Her daughter came to pick us up on the first day when we had trouble finding the cottage.
The only downside is getting to the cottage. The roads are very narrow and it's very easy to lose your way.
PLEASE USE THE B5105. It's the easiest way of getting in and out

Pilgrims Cottage, Mundesley, Norfolk
When we arrived at the house there was no toilet paper and no soap. The shower doors didn't close properly and the tap in the kitchen was completely falling apart. The shower runs cold after a few minutes whereby you have to wait for it to reset before continuing to shower. Their maintenance log hadn't been filled in since 2022. The levels of cleanliness are not what I would have expected and overall I was very disappointed as we had booked the same house the previous year and the standards were much higher. The listing on the website says that the property has room to park two cars which is completely untrue - the assigned area could park 1.5 cars at best. We called originalcottages during our stay to report an issue. They said they would call us back and they never did. Would not recommend.

DISGRACEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DIRTY COTTAGES
We recently stayed at PENGRAIGDRAW which is a dirty disgraceful property. I put In a complaint to this tin pot company who are not interested one bit. Numerous emails sent, called the complaints team who just pay lip service. They send an email asking to review a property and when you press the link it does not work.....I wonder why. this is the first time using this company....never again use another who know how to treat customers.
In response to your reply, I've spoken to two of your complaints managers and they just don't reply. I did give you every opportunity but its just another tin pot 2 bit company who doesn't care. You have even removed the link from your email to review the cottage so I've had to review with pictures elsewhere. Lip service. Your email link does not work. I suggest you probably manipulate them. Taken from your email. Sharing your feedback is a great help for future guests and should only take a couple of minutes. We'd really appreciate your thoughts.

Norton park is on the bus route to either Dartmouth or Totnes and runs hourly during the week, just wait at gate or pull in opposite.
Booking and contact with our hosts was excellent.
We throughly enjoyed our stay.
