Was trying to book my husband's and I 40/50 birthday trip to Vegas and they charged my card for a hotel/flight package and I didn't get an itinerary number. So no I have to wait for the charges on my account to drop to rebook. Customer service was no help and now we are prolly gonna have to pay more! Frustrating and disappointing!

They are a total SCAM! Beware of using them or buying tickets on their site - no matter what you might think you will be saving on tickets. I used to book through Orbitz for all my family tickets for the past 8 years, but in the last 3 years or so they have gone steadily from very lousy to downright SCAM. The past two years I had legs of my son's flights cancelled, without notification, and when my son takes the first leg of the flight he finds out the the middle or last leg of the flight was cancelled months ago! He would get stuck at the airport trying to figure a way to get home for the holidays, The chat support just says CONTACT THE AIRLINE - so NO SUPPORT Whatsoever.
THE DISASTER THAT COMPLETELY BLEW MY MIND WAS YESTERDAY, THEY CHARGED ME $2600 for four family members tickets to Greece. Charge goes through, My credit card charge alert on my mobile verifies the transaction (6 transactions in total with the extra baggage from Aegean Airlines). The window takes an unusually long time to verify the transaction (goes through 3D Secure and is verified) Window closes and I think that I an done buying the tickets - WRONG
I never get an email confirmation, and I cannot see my booking on my account. Once I start panicking and try to contact them the horror story unfolds - YOU CANNOT get through any of their phone numbers without the itinerary number - which I did NOT get. Spent 2 hours trying all options,
Then comes the live chat support - SCAM UNFOLDING - the chat agent (Jojo L) said that there is NO record of my airline tickets booking. AT FIRST SHE SAID SHE SAW A TRACE OF THE CREDIT CARD TRANSACTION BUT THEN SHE SAID THERE IS NO RECORD. She said I should contact Aegean Airlines, which I did, but there was no ticket booked on their system because the transaction was done through Orbitz, So Aegean said I should go back to Orbitz, which I did, and the agent again said there was nothing she can do because there was no record of the flight itinerary
Meanwhile $2400 just disappeared from my account and got charged to my account. THEY did the transaction through Orbitz system, at least they could give me the transactin details so I could go back to m y bank or airline. NOTHING, NADA They were as cold and bad as they come. TOTAL SCAMMERS! NEVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN!!!!! You are far better of buying directly from the airline sites.
I booked a hotel
I booked a hotel. When I arrived I noticed I booked wrong location. Called Orbitz. To ask about transferring to a different location. When they told me not possible. I was going to just go to where I had booked the original hotel.
The hotel said Orbitz canceled the reservation and Orbitz denied it. And won't give me a refund???
Good and bad
I have used Orbitz for several trips, business and personal. They are good and bad but I will no longer book through them. They helped me change my flights when traveling in Canada recently and that was huge, but most recently I was a week out from a single-night reservation and they charged $25 to push it a month. My issue is that I have plenty of rewards to cover that cost but they wouldn't let me use them. The reward program was one of the reasons I started using them and after finding out you don't get rewards for car rentals and hotel rentals don't get rewards with hotel programs when booked through Orbitz. Using the rewards is bad as well, they typically charge double on all rooms when used. It just isn't worth it. I gave them two stars because I was able to change the reservation and didn't have to abandon it. Plus they did help out in Canada, but it took a long chat with a moron that ended up with a call to the 800 number to get straight.

Never had so many problems flying in my life.. And the worst time.. Celebrating my wife's birthday. We bought an all inclusive package to cancun and day before going back they changed our flight so we ended up loosing a whole day and missing our plans for last day... Then we were allowed to bring carry on bags and when they changed the flight we had to pay for our carry on wich is ridiculous.. I would not recommend anyone buying with expedia or orbitz... Worst service ever.. By the way gave them 1 star because there was no ZERO starts option...

I booked a flight through Orbitz, only to have the airline cancel the flight just under a month before I was scheduled to fly. When I first contacted Orbitz, they told me that true, that flight number was cancelled, but since my itinerary was still showing as active, my flight was not cancelled. HUH????
A few days later I got an email from Orbitz about my cancelled flight. By then, I had been told that the airline was willing to rebook me on a different airline, but Orbitz kept insisting that airlines don't do that.
After almost two weeks of getting the runaround from Orbitz, with the airline telling me how Orbitz should contact them to make the change and Orbitz saying that they do it differently, I was told today by the airline that they can no longer make that change - it was authorized for a limited number of tickets, and that number has been used. They are willing to give me a refund, but by now the ticket price has more than doubled, so my plans are ruined.

I feel compelled to share my troubling experience with a booking company, where I encountered serious issues regarding visa information. Despite checking their website, I found no mention of visa requirements for my journey. Even when I reached out to their agents for clarification, they were unable to confirm whether a visa was necessary. This lack of transparency and knowledge on their part created a major inconvenience during my attempt to board a flight. The situation ultimately led to unexpected expenses of $750 to alter my travel plans. This experience not only raises questions about the company's communication practices but also underscores a serious lapse in customer service.

I am only giving this 1 star because there was NO option to proceed without doing so. My review would be NO starts!!! While in another country, our family, did a last minute booking with Orbitz for an apartment close to the train station in Italy. After booking the apartment, we received notification that checkin must be completed by 8:00pm or we would be charged an additional $50 and have to go to a different site 10-15 minutes away to register. The posting did not say this on the orbitz website! This is NOT a SAFE or easy task to do in a foreign country that you are unfamiliar with. Due to train delays we could not meet the 8:00pm deadline. We desperately tried to cancel the reservation but the management said NO. We contacted Orbitz to explain the situation and they offered NO support and would not cancel the reservation. They left a family of five in a serious situation at 11:00pm at night. One of our family members had to go to the offsite management facility, register, and then come back to train station to pick us up. We then had to walk to the apartment which was disgusting and gross! Orbitz has terrible customer service and absolutely no concern for their customers. We have used orbitz many times but they do not value repeat customers. Use a different site! If your in trouble or book with false advertising…ORBITZ WILL NOT SUPPORT YOU! Do not use Orbitz…we never will again!!!

I booked a flight on Orbitz in Aug for a trip in Nov. I wanted to make sure I could get a non-middle row seat. I paid an extra $100 for this upgrade. My seat was switched on both flights to the middle row, from the east coast to west coast. When I called to get compensated, they told me they have no record of this upgrade. If you upgrade on Orbitz, take a screen shot of the difference. I'm so angry. I am not going to ever book with them again. It's a principal thing.

Hire car- hidden insurance costs
I hired a car which I found out at collection it wasn’t insured!!!
I used their app to hire a car in the normal way that I would from any other car hire company. I have been hiring cars across the world for over 30 years. The only regular issue is the add on insurance they offer which I already buy as a yearly policy as it’s better value.
On this occasion I arrived at the hire car desk in LAX to find the car I had hired had no insurance whatsoever. I couldn’t believe it, I was tired and needed the car so I had no real choice other than to take the insurance offered at another $250.
I have contacted Orbitz who have replied with a very poor email which apologised but pointed to the small print that the car had no insurance. This is crazy as the car cost the same to hire from the other car hire sites which do come with insurance.
I feel that I have been completely handover. Please avoid this company.

They quoted one price and said it was a manager's special economy car or similar. The or similar was an electric car that had few places to charge. so we ended up spending almost twice the amount to get a gas powered car. It is the old bait and switch scam. Don't use Orbitz. Or Hertz.
Don't use Orbitz to rent a car in Ireland
The "insurance" I paid for with Orbitz was OF NO USE WHATSOEVER. When I went to Hertz to rent, they said that the insurance from Orbitz was not considered insurance, and I would have to pay 5 euro per day additional, PLUS A 5,000 EURO DEPOSIT. Fortunately, the deposit was refunded but only after a week of keeping my money. Whatever you do, don't rent a car in Ireland through Orbitz, rent directly so you don't have a 5000 hit on your card.
Thieves and Crooks
Orbitz has cheated me out of $328.23. They have misrepresented their services by not making it clear when renting a car per their website function of Car Rental Only that a Flight would be needed otherwise they could steal your money without consideration of the customer's uncertainty of the rules and regulations provided, especially in the process of using their website that allows Car Rental Only selections.

I rented a car in September from Sixt in florida through Orbitz. I chose a midsized car, read all of the information than was offered a larger car for the same price. Two weeks later, I needed to cancel ( for a January reservation). I was than told that there would be a $100 refund charge on my $291 rental and they than refunded the other $191. When I called orbitz to protest they said it was out of there hands ane when I called sixt, they said the same thing. If you check the site, it says "cancellation available" but you must click on for further into to learn of this charge. This practice is a scam, offering you something better for the same price but not informing you upfront that there are other charges.
DO NOT USE ORBITZ unless you read every bit of information hidden on there site.

When I went to change the flight to the correct day that I had originally booked it on, they charged me $1100 more. They sent me a form to change the wrong name. I did the correction exactly right and they got my phone number wrong. So it must be their computer system screwing up or they do this on purpose to squeeze more money out of you. Very scary.

Jetblue flight was cancelled while we were on our first flight. It happens, made it home via greyhound. Trying to get our refund a month later has been an absolute headache. Hours between Orbitz chat and phone, they wouldn't refund directly so reach out to Turkish Airlines and Jetblue, and they keep saying to contact the other (reservations all under Turkish Airlines, Jetblue operated second plane). Orbitz support is all Indian. They won't listen to anything you say but go through their 'process' will never work with them again. They should be helpful instead of an obstacle.
