Scam artists - avoid

Scam artists!
I was offered a good, decent price for my iPhone and I thoroughly checked that it fit the criteria to get that amount. A couple of small scratches etc but it fit the bill.

After posting off I received an email (arrived in my junk email) informing me that my phone had been graded by a completely new set of criteria which decided that because I had a scratch on the front, it would need a new screen and I now will only receive about 30% of the original quote.
There was absolutely no mention of this prior to me posting it off and I was 100% sure that the small scratch passed the initial questions.
To make matters worse, the email arrived in my junk mail and I only noticed after 2 days. They only give you 3 days to reply otherwise you are deemed as having accepted the new low offer.
I contacted them and they would basically not engage with me or send my phone back.
I have sold every upgraded phone I’ve had for years and this is the worst service I’ve ever had. I feel completely ripped off and mislead

Use at your own risk.

Excellent Service and Price

I have used EE Recycle for the past couple of years. The prices offered for my phones have been the best of all the competitors. They supply a jiffy bag and a pre-paid label. I put the phone inside the supplied bag, and then put this into another bigger jiffy bag, just to give more protection to the device. I have always paid the extra for the postal insurance - it's about £7.
Within a couple of days of receipt I have received confirmation, and the quoted price. So I have been very happy with the service and the amount received.

Offered 75% less than quoted

Obviously I am happy to get any money for my phone. However being offered 75% less than they quoted me is a bit of a kick in the teeth when the phone has had a screen protector and case on for the two years I've owned it.
I'd say unless you're trading in a high end phone definitely don't pay the postage and you're better off selling it on Facebook marketplace as I plan on doing in the future.
The company is actually called brightstar and is the company EE pass it on to. I've been told in shop before now it's not worth the hassle but in these hard times I could have used the extra cash. The picture they sent me to show me the so called damage was pathetic, just the top of the screen. And a table and someone's leg. Unprofessional and crap.

Paid the full amount

Was a bit skeptical about these trade in services as carphone warehouse offered me £40 then £80 for a galaxy s9 that was in perfect condition. Got quoted £141 here and Ive just been paid the full amount.
I see this unfortunately isnt the case with everyone based on the reviews, but im pleased it has worked out for me

Exactly as quoted

I was quoted approx £140 for my old phone, which was slightly better than Samsungs quote. They sent a return envelope and the option to send free or insured for £7:50. Due to so of the other reviews, I opted for the insured route and added some additional packaging. The phone was delivered to them on Monday. I emailed for an update on Friday. The quote was confirmed on Friday, with the cash in my account on the Monday. I will now trade in my older phone.

Very good

Very good, went onto EE Trade-In website, put in my 2 phones, got the free shipping label in 2 days, popped them into the bag, and took it to the Post Office, it got to the company in 2 days. A day later, I got an email saying they'd received my phone and included photos of them. The quote said I'd get £50, and they didn't lie to me.

Their email team is very good as well, 10/10
Edit: received money a day early 😊

Zero stars. Appalling service!

If there was an option for zero stars then I would select that!
Was quoted £170 for my iPhone 7plus nothing wrong with the phone at all, had always been kept in a case with a screen protector on.
Had to keep emailing them asking them if they received it, then had an email saying the phone had a damaged screen, dents in the casing and scratches to the apple logo.
They offered me £80, I phoned EE Recycle and nothing can be done because it’s damaged and that’s how they received it. Absolutely appalling service, avoid at all costs!
Would never ever use them again!!!

Brilliant.

Brilliant.

Phone was sent recorded which they got next day and confirmed this by email the following day.

The next day I woke up to an email confirming the amount I would be paid (the same as the quoted amount) and that it would be in my account 5 working days later. It actually hit my account that lunchtime so 5 days early.

Superb service.

AVOID!!!

When I compared mobile phone recycling companies EE gave the top price so you may also be fooled by this. I was initially quoted £228.

I paid special delivery to ensure that the phone was received before the deadline but on the deadline date had still not heard anything despite having confirmation from Royal Mail that the phone had been received.

Called three days after arrival confirmed and was told phone are inspected within 24-48 hours but that they would extend the quote just in case. (At this point they were already outside of the quoted timescale!)

I chased again the following Monday and was told that they were working to a 4-5 working day timescale which again to my mind had been reached.

Have complained again and been told that the phone has been inspected and offered £114 due to LCD burn and slight scratches.

I sent the phone to them in perfect working order and the screen had no damage so I'm not sure what they consider to be good condition but it seems unreasonable!

I would go for a lower quote with a higher rated company as EE are clearly luring people in with high quotes and then dramatically knocking them down.

Full amount received

I recycled my Pixel 2 via EE recycle. My quote was £167 and that's the amount I received. I've used the service once before and both time I received the full amount.

Have to admit I hadn't checked…

Have to admit I hadn't checked Trustpilot before sending my OnePlus 3 for recycling. Was quoted £165 and the phone was in perfect condition (complete with factory fit screen protector). Phone was delivered to Brightstar on a Monday and then - the reason for docking a star rating - no comms at all.

Mailed them on the Friday and received a mail back almost immediately apologising for the delay processing with a target date given of the following Monday. Received a mail in the early hours of Sunday morning confirming quoted price and the money was in my bank later that week. I'm happy with the service and got more than I was expecting and less hassle than eBay.

A quote is a quote not an estimate.

I wish I had read the reviews on trust pilot before I trusted the EE brand with my phone recycling.

Unsurprisingly I quickly received the envelope to send the device to them. Swiftly followed by the email urging me to send quickly or the quote would be lost. Give me a chance!!!

So I sent the device away, and a week later I receive the dreaded email stating your phone is only worth half what you were told we would pay. £45 instead of £90

I questioned this, and was told that the screen was lifting because the battery had swollen. Also that the LCD had a burn and some missing pixels. And also there were scratches on the screen. None of which were in any way shape or form true.

The area in which you describe your phone is very limited and only asks one or two questions before delivering the quote. But still I would consider my device to be in A1 condition.

After being called a liar by one of their managers I have requested they send my device back.

To be fair to EE this service is not run directly by them, (run by a company called Brightstar) but I felt so strongly about it I called EE’s retention department. They were as good as gold and have gone some way to make up for the shoddy practice of this company.

I suggest don’t touch this lot with someone else’s barge pole and if you already have and have experienced the same sort of service let EE retention’s know of your discontent.

Well...

Well - they have now had my phone a week and absolutely nothing from them after numerous calls. There might be a “backlog” I’m told. Absolutely appalling service. Any other company turns handsets around in 48 hours. These lot don’t care. Just waiting for the “oh your screen is damaged” email next.

Absolutely terrible experience

Absolutely terrible experience! At every stage of the process I have had to chase them, received conflicting emails which when challenged were renaged upon & to top it all off amount paid was less than agreed.

Thought I could trust a company I've been with for years, how wrong was I!

So after being a customer of Orange/EE for years I thought recycling my phone with them was the safest option, how wrong was I! So after receiving an Intial quote of £170 for my iPhone 6s I sent on Monday 11th September in a padded Jiffy bag I've today recieved an email saying my reviewed quote is £85 due to damage to the phone! Well let me tell you the phone has been kept in wallet type phone case for the whole time I've had it to protect it so apart from a little surface scratch on the screen the phone was in perfect condition when I sent it to EE but it now appears to have a black dot on the centre and bottom left hand side of the screen and the left hand side of the phone appears to have a gap between the screen and body of the phone. I know 100% this phone was not in this condition when I sent it to them.

I've replied telling them I want the phone returned as I'm not happy with there revised quote as the phone wasn't damaged when I sent it to them. So I'll wait a reply.
After reading reviews on here it seems this is a reoccurring theme with them, so when the phone comes back I'll see What the damage is to the phone if there is any and I'm considering taking this to the ombudsman as what they are doing is fraud

EE reycle rip off merchants

EE reycle, Utter rip off merchants, quoted £145 for galaxy s6 edge, in mint condition as good as, very well looked after no damage at all, claiming internal LCD damage. Advised me to commit fraud and claim via royal mail and say it was damaged in transit

Looks like it's a common theme reading other reviews, when asked to speak to management they have all gone in for a meeting. What tosh

They refused to return my phone

I sent off a brand new iPhone SE to EE Recycle, i'd literally only had it a week and had all the relevant emails and purchase receipts from an EE store but yet EE recycle claimed my phone was stolen. I informed them on 3 separate occasions that i had full purchase receipts and all i'd like is to have the phone returned to me, but i got the same "automated" customer service email all three times. I asked to escalate the issue but still got the same response.

EE recycle are actually thieves and i would strongly recommend never using them. 6 Weeks down the line its clear that they have no intention of returning my phone to me, so i'm now £200+ out of pocket.

Terrible company.
