After removing myself from obvious search sites— while under Optery service—, I wondered why I had to do this myself. I accomplished this faster than Optery so I closed my account. Immediately my spam mail was full of emails I had never received before and I found myself AGAIN listed on sites I was supposedly deleted from. I still get Optery notifications regarding sites they supposedly removed me from.
I cannot help but wonder if they do this so I’ll renew with them.

We understand how frustrating it must have felt to manually remove listings, still receive spam, and continue getting notifications even after cancellation. We also want to be absolutely clear: Optery does not leave listings up to drive renewals. That goes directly against our mission to help people regain control over their personal information online.
After reviewing your account, we saw that you were with us for 30 days, which means you were still within the early stages of the removal process.
To speak directly to your concern about the slow progress or needing to take action yourself: Optery’s process combines automation with real human privacy agents to ensure quality and manually handle complex cases. During the first 1–2 weeks, there’s a surge of opt-out activity happening behind the scenes. Some data brokers remove profiles quickly, but others, especially those with poor compliance, can take several weeks or even months to process requests.
Since most data brokers don’t notify us when a listing is taken down, our system continues scanning their sites in the background to confirm whether your data is still live. What you likely experienced was the normal waiting period that follows the initial batch of submissions. Some opt-outs are also scheduled for later rounds based on complexity or broker behavior. While many customers see over 50% of their profiles removed or hidden within 30 days, it typically takes ongoing effort over several months to see the full benefit. That’s why Optery is designed as a subscription-based service rather than a one-time fix.
Regarding the spam you mentioned — we understand how frustrating that is. While it’s very rare, a few customers have reported something similar. That said, we haven’t found any evidence that Optery causes this. Spammers gather contact info in a bunch of different ways: data breaches, buying lists, or just generating random emails and numbers. It could be a coincidence that it happened around the same time.
Importantly, Optery doesn’t share your real email or phone number with any data brokers. We use a private alias (like FirstNameLastName@opterymail.com) to keep your real info protected.

Astonishingly good product AND service
After just a couple of weeks on a monthly trial, I was astonished at the number of international, slimy "data brokers" HAD and were obviously "trading on" my personal data. That convinced me to go for the premium ANNUAL plan, and THAT has resulted in Optery quashing my information in myriad MORE "data brokers." After signing up I noticed how many premium, truly independent review sites are rating Optery the very highest among these services. AND, their email-customer support is SUPERB . . . prompt, responsive and intelligent. All hallmarks of a very good company.

Get Optery! You will not regret it!
I’ve had the Optery Ultimate Plan for over six months now, and I can’t say enough positive things about the plan and the customer service I have received from Optery. The by-monthly report I receive is easy to read and understand. The Dashboard is also easy to navigate and informs you of your completed and pending removals. Most importantly, I can't say enough about Optery’s customer service. Every email I have sent asking a question has been answered quickly, and my questions are always thoroughly answered. I have occasionally asked questions about other ways to protect myself that might not fall under Optery’s services. Despite this, they still went above and beyond to answer my questions and, on a few occasions, provided me with website links as a resource. The staff are always kind and considerate, and you get the feeling that they care about you and highly regard customer service. I highly recommend Optery. You will not regret it.

We were getting many phone calls from trying to contact a business that had gone bankrupt. Unfortunately we now had that Phone number.

Easy to use and GREAT support.
The initial setup of the product was about as easy as it could be. Provide some information, and let the product do it's work. I can't speak on the quality of the end result quite yet as I've only just started using the system, but so far it seems to be working EXACTLY as advertised.
I had a couple of questions and wanted to provide some feedback (Dark theme mode, and Hardware Key authentication for the account), and the online chat support was VERY quick to reply (within just a few minutes), answered my questions, and seemed to accept my feedback in a positive manner.
Because of my experience now after only just 2 days, I've gone ahead and purchased an Ultimate subscription, and am certain I won't regret it!
UPDATE: Just a couple of weeks after writing this review, as well as sending a dark theme suggestion email, they've introduced dark mode!!! This company is great, for the simple fact that they listen to customer feedback, which is rare these days.
