Operations tend to lag
On my Mac M2 Pro with 16GB RAM, ON1 still lags on most operations. Lightroom and DxO don't.

I have an on-again/off-again…
I have an on-again/off-again relationship with ON1. I have used ON1 pretty much since the beginning because I did not want to pay the ADOBE price after they broke everything up and cost sky rocketed. After a couple of Photoshop Summits, I switched. Photoshop got simplified and ON1 more difficult. The layout got more confusing. I still used ON1 as a plug-in to lightroom/photoshop because I liked some of the presets I purchased. Now I have a subscription to both Adobe and ON1. Adobe is in the process of acquiring Topaz Labs which I used to use allot. Especially Denoise, and Sharpening. On1's new noise reduction software was a good deal, so I bought it to try out. I will soon be Off-Again with ON1 because of an update. The new update for 26.3 keeps crashing my computer. I stopped reporting it, because everything still works but I have to reboot my system. Also, installing new presets I purchased or got for free, will not install. The instructions are not clear and some of the actions just aren't there. Installing anything new in ON1 has turned out to be a pain. So, back to Photoshop. ON1 is a great program and has done a great job on some of my fine art photography. However, I just wish the creators would stop tinkering with it and just let it settle down and let it work the way it is supposed to.

The 26.3 crashes and the presets that won't install are real bugs, not something you should have to work around with a reboot or by giving up on presets you paid for. Could you send our support team your Mac model, macOS version, and which specific presets fail to install (including any error message)? That will let them look into both directly.
The "stop tinkering and let it settle" point is fair, and we'll pass that along as feedback on how updates and UI changes get rolled out.

The 2026 version with AI is now my favorite software.
As a 2019 customer I found the 2026 edition a giant improvement with AI addition. Not perfect, but amazing for some of my old landscape photos. Not great for portraits though. I'm sure that will be improved too. Anyway, I decided to buy the latest version. Everything went well. Happy to be a customer.

Overall, a great product!
Upgrades generally work well. Product features are constantly evolving, however AI improvements take a lot of PC grunt, which may impact users with insufficient RAM and processing power.
I periodically still have crashes where the application stops working and needs to be restarted. I would like to see ON1 deliver a release that concentrates on fixing crashes and improving speed, rather than keep adding new functionality. Whilst I have a high-end PC, I still find that loading a photo into edit can still take a while, especially if that photo has already had some edits.

Very good photo processing app with many features. Many of the features are automated or ai which is great. The presets are great because they make it easy.
It does take a while to learn some of the most interesting effects. I highly recommend watching the short tutorials on their website.
