Alternative Repair Shop
Found this business after searching for an Art Conservator on the Institute of Conservators website.
Had a family heirloom, in the form of a pencil drawing of my grandfather on horseback, wearing his WW1 army uniform. It was drawn by my late father in the 1920s/30s from a black & white photograph.
The item was badly torn and dirty, from inappropriate storage by other family members over many years.
I visited the company, based in the Jewellery Qtr in Birmingham, for examination and quotation of the work required. Whilst the price wasn't small, it turned out to be a sound investment on restoring the only heirloom I possess from my late father.
He was an engineer, not an artist, but drew pictures in pencil numerous times through his early life.
The finished restoration is an excellent job. I have no hesitation in recommending Louise, the Conservator, as an accomplished professional with a solid background in both museum and private work.
The item will now take pride of place in my home, no longer hidden in a drawer gathering dust and grime.
