I never get any surveys.
Octopus Group boasts that it's the "the highest paying survey provider" in Australia, which may be true in the sense that it pays more per survey than most. But it also calls itself "the best online survey provider in Australia," and I don't think this is true.
I've been with Octopus Group for twelve weeks and I've earned $16. That's nineteen cents a day. I hardly ever get any survey invitations, and only qualify for half of those. For almost an entire month I got no survey invitations at all.
I contacted them about a month after joining to ask why I wasn't getting any surveys, and they assured me everything looked fine and it was just because a lot of companies were enjoying an extended Christmas break. But it's now April and nothing has changed.
They also advised me to make more money by inviting friends to join, but I'd be pretty embarrassed to invite my friends to a survey company that nets so little income that after nearly three months I haven't even earned enough to make my first withdrawal.
I don't know what's going on here, because I've found other survey sites quite lucrative in the same period. I'm a good candidate - I'm honest, thorough and provide thoughtful answers.
Maybe this is the issue. Someone in a discussion group suggested to me that it's better to lie on your profile and make yourself look more appealing. They tried this, they said, and it worked for them. I couldn't personally do that - it is fraud, albeit on a small scale - but I do wonder if I should have left the profile questions blank. They're obviously screening me out due to secret criteria that are total mystery to me. Maybe I live in the wrong city, or own the wrong kind of car. Maybe I should have a dog and not a cat.
The Octopus Group website says "We're shaking up the Australian survey panel industry, so that everyone gets a better deal." Not everyone, obviously. Not me.
No, just no.
To be honest I was quite excited to sign up with them but then I realised what a waste of time. Surveys that “disqualify you” after entering your details or “ you are not the right target audience”. Might as well just hand over your life details for nothing.
Been with them for years
Been with them for years , However over the last few months I have seen them decline with over 50% screen out and 20% you complete and don't get paid. Sadly they are stealing time and info which they never use to do.

I have signed up WAS super excited
I have signed up super excited , to only in weeks seeing 1 survey that I didn’t get screened out of half way. Then the second one got in then half way again got disqualified. They pay good BUT why are they infrequent?? Keep logging in still no surveys available for me. Disappointing 🥺
Been paid for my survey
So all paid up took a little time but was paid out and have made another 2 $20 withdrawals since pretty happy so far.
mobile experience needs improving
I’ve really enjoyed doing the surveys from octopus group and i like how high the payouts are but i guess that sacrifices the amount of surveys you get. Haven’t had much issues expect the mobile experience is really bad.
The surveys are not mobile friendly…
The surveys are not mobile friendly therefore have to have a laptop. This is something they need to improve. If I can not do a survey the moment it pops up then not worth my time. Surveys are few and far between. Honestly don’t waste your time there are so many better paid survey applications out there. You could not pay me to refer. If they fixed the mobile issues and had more frequent paying surveys sure I would be referring even if I was not paid to do so.
Wouldn’t bother
As much as it seems like a good deal, the user experience is very sub-par. There’s a lot of surveys that aren’t mobile friendly so I was screened out for those, lot of surveys that required too much information eg. Access to your phone via an app (and in this time of company hacking, you can understand why the reluctance to do it) and, as you can well imagine, survey after survey rejecting you half way through. Been using octopus for the last few months and I’m just waiting to reach my first $20 so i can cash in and get out. If you’re looking for ways to make extra cash, I’m sorry to say that this isn’t a good option
Waste of time
I have been sent multiple surveys (up to 7 or 8) and answered multiple questionnaires just to be told halfway through my input is not needed and was not paid for any of them. I understand not fitting the criteria but multiple times now it got me to answer questions about things I buy in the household just to "time out" and say the survey quota was full or I did not fit the criteria. Some of them I spent a few minutes answering questions before it did this. Very annoying and a waste of time don't bother signing up with this company.

I put a terrible review on here other day which I just deleted and changing now. Was my own fault I had trouble redeeming gift vouchers and should have asked for assistance from customer support before jumping in, I feel bit like an idiot. Have seen also reviews on here where people are being excluded from surveys towards the end of questions and not receiving payments. Something I have noticed with many of surveys is they will ask questions that will have some relevance to previous answers. I don't know if I am correct so just guessing but could be that if you are randomly ticking boxes to get through a survey they could pick up on it and then be excluded. Just a thought?

In the past month I’ve got overv$40 and successfully transferred it to my bank
Yes it’s annoying to get through one completely and then be told you don’t qualify or enough in your group have done it. I think octopus should weed out those clients because they are getting surveys then using excuses not to pay
Overall I do it when they come up if I can and being a pensioner who most times can’t afford to shop, it’s been extremely helpful to me getting the money
What a scam
What a scam. As so many others have said- they get you up to $20 and either block you from getting the money out or say you have been blocked.
Do not waste your time. Scammers!

I’ve found it a waste of time
I’ve found it a waste of time, I’ve done about 6 so far and only one I’ve qualified for. You have to spend 4-5 mins only to find out you can’t do the survey.

I’m sick of spending significant time…
I’m sick of spending significant time on surveys to be screened out especially when I feel they have gathered a good amount of information for their research and then when I sent a email regarding this I’m accused of not answering honestly which is an accusation I do not appreciate
Better surveys elsewhere
This is a scam
This is a scam! Not only do you barely get many surveys compared to other sites but once you hit the transfer amount of $20 your account is blocked for “security” reasons. They’ll say a few of your surveys have been flagged (however they have all gone through and no problem until the final survey you do to hit the $20 amount) and it was blocked as a precaution. They’ll then want you to send a photo of your license to verify your account details and proof of ownership of your mobile number eg. registeration, bill or carrier app with that will show your details.
I’m sorry but your emailing me on the registered email, you have the number you can send a register code to verify like every other site no way in the world would someone send their personal details like that! 100% scam. Just want my $20 😡
Update,
They are now saying they sent my the wrong template email and that it’s been flagged until they can verify I’m in Australia because it’s coming up that I’m in Canada. My mobile number is Australian…. My email is Australian….. sorry what 🤷🏻♀️
Nope
Had an issue with a survey screening me out after I had already spent twenty minutes answering very personal questions. Waited WEEKS for email support to get back to me and today received a very informal “you were screened out cause you completed the survey too quickly” followed by a STERN lecture about how they strongly encourage participants to properly read and answer truthfully. I have been a participant in good faith for years and this was my first and only experience with their online “support”. What a joke. Deleting the app and signing up to a different survey company. Encouraging all my friends and family to whom I previously recommended octopus to do the same. I DO NOT recommend octopus if you actually want to get paid for surveys. They’ll find every way out of paying you that they can, and overestimate your potential earnings for a survey so you think you’re going to get more money than you do. And the “screening” portion of surveys is getting longer and longer so their clients can get more information without paying.
EDIT AFTER REPLY: It seems that octopus’ response is to imply that I have not been a member for years? The more you try and give feedback about their terrible management, the more rude and hostile they become. They will apparently stoop to calling you a liar, while handling HUGE companies in corporate accounts. Really says a lot about the companies who choose to work with them too. I’m sure they’d love to know about the unprofessionalism that’s being associated with their brands

Hi Lucas, screening out is annoying but it is common knowledge that screening happens and there are valid reasons for it but I'm quite sure you don't want to hear them right now. I think you should know that the information that we collect is never passed on or sold, and the information that you provide in a screened out survey is also not used, as a partial case it holds no purpose to the research being conducted and it is also not on sold. This is for market research not simply marketing, we are held to more stringent rules relating to people's private information.
None of this stops screening out from being annoying, and we don't get paid if you don't.

Hey RY
Your answer about "common knowledge" is patronising and rude. Also, you need to explain the valid reasons which you claim I don't want to know about.
Wow, your self-generated "transparency" document has landed. Thank God!
You are the worst customer service officer I've come across in quite a while (and that's saying something).
I pray this review, RY will be passed on to your supervisor for review.
Then you can read a report from your transparent management team.
