We have about 800 users that still used our legacy postfix/Dovecot IMAP environment. These users are old university type users that for a long time had direct file level access to their IMAP folders. Meaning, who knows how complex of a folder structure they made for themselves. I enlisted a well-known company, one might even call them a ‘TITAN’ of the space, if you know what I mean. I needed to migrate these users from IMAP into our M365 environment. I do not want this review to be just about how bad that product was, but lets just say we dealt with: folder hierarchy being compressed to one level or ignored completely.. long running jobs dying without cause or notice.. Jobs that take 3+ hours to even start to run.. just a complete failure. It is a SAAS based product, so I only had control at their interface level.

I found Kernel Migration for IMAP. Unlike the product above that was a SAAS only product, Kernel Migration for IMAP is an app installed on your local PC. With almost no effort, I was using the fully functional demo version doing migrations of very complex IMAP folder hierarchy into our M365. The demo version did everything, except it only migrated 10 messages per folder. Which is very nice for testing and evaluation.
I did have some problems with the initial configuration of our M365 account. So I hit the chat button on the website. I was chatting with capable support within moments. After a few minutes of that, they offered a zoom sessions right then and there. This is all before I bought ANYTHING.. In no time at all, they showed what I configured in M365 wrong, and we were off.

Kernel Migration for IMAP is a great tool and worked flawlessly for us. Its cost is a fraction of others (50 mailboxes for $99.. are you kidding me??)
I highly recommend it if you looking to do a legacy, unix postfix/Dovecot IMAP migration.

The Kernel team was extremely helpful in resolving an issue I had with OST to PST conversion. I downloaded the tool and paid $50 for it, but after trying to conversion several times, I could only get a partial export of my email files. I contacted the Chat support team, and immediately got a person (a real human), who stayed with me for over an hour helping me troubleshoot the problem. With their help, I was able to resolve the issue and finally get my OST file converted to PST so I could view my old emails. Thanks Kernel and Kernel Support team!

While Microsoft had made it all but impossible to do tenant to tenant migrations (companies never merge or split, right) then Kernel tools really made it with Teams 1:1 chat and Microsoft Planner migration where other migration tools that our migration partner company was using by default totally failed. Also support from Vikram was superb and much appreciated. Thank you!
