trains that go down or under maintenance seemingly every other week. What do you need to repair so often, and usually on the same lines lol. Delays are understandable but so often?

During construction they marked snelbus as solution. According to schedule it was 1 every 20 minutes, which is not even close to reality. We had one bus after more than 40 minutes of waiting. Half of... See more

Cancellation and/or change of ticket

My main problem is navigating the website.
As long as the trains run on time, there's no problem but the moment there's delay, cancellation, interruption, it becomes a nightmare to even try to get compensation. It is then that the programmers stacked everything against the passenger-consumer.
Advice? Don't rely on connections of less than 10 minutes: the time just evaporates !

The trains are always delayed and they…

The trains are always delayed and they don’t care about people’s time. This is very unacceptable. Why have a railway if it’s not usable? Why so many accidents and constant working on the railway and never actually get good railway. I lost a plane because of them and who’s paying for that? Not them, they are NS and they can go f themselves

Helpful service. NSA saved my day.

After a long flight, I caught the train from schiphol to Amsterdam. I stepped off the train and forget a piece of luggage. Within 20 min a had a phone call from a NS conductor and after a short chat, he came up with an idea for me to get my bag back, hassle free at 11pm at night. FANTASTIC!! Best service ever, helpful, friendly and personal. Thank you NS. You guys rock!

Review: NS – The Absolute Definition of Unreliable Transp

I have truly run out of patience with NS and their constant chaos on the Rotterdam Centraal – Eindhoven Centraal route. This line is supposed to connect two major cities in one of the most developed countries in the world, yet it feels more like a game of roulette — you never know if you’ll make it to work, back home, or anywhere at all.

Disruptions? Try three or more times a week. Every week. Without fail. Delays, cancellations, endless “technical problems,” mysterious “adjusted schedules,” and last-minute “maintenance” that seems to last forever. And every time, the same empty apologies and zero accountability.

Today was an absolute disaster again. Trains cancelled. Connections missed. Platforms changed at the last second. No clear communication. I couldn’t even reach my office properly — and that’s not a one-off, it’s becoming the norm. How can a national railway company run so consistently badly on one of the busiest intercity routes in the country?

Let’s be honest: NS has turned what should be a simple, reliable commute into a daily endurance test of frustration and wasted time. It’s beyond unacceptable. People depend on these trains for work, study, and family life, yet the company behaves as if reliability is optional.

If NS were a private company competing for customers, it would have gone bankrupt long ago. But instead, it continues to collect fares and deliver chaos. This is not “public transport” — it’s public torment.

In short: NS, this is disgraceful. Fix your service, fix your infrastructure, and stop pretending that “inconvenience” is an unavoidable act of nature. It’s not. It’s your job. And right now, you’re failing miserably.

Don't buy promotional vouchers via NS website

Be extremely careful of buying any promotions for days out or overnight stays in hotels via the NS spoordeelwinkel they do not work!
I bought a voucher for Fletcher hotel in Enschede that was promoted on the NS newsletter but it was impossible to use it as advertised and now I have paid for a voucher that I can't use. Neither Fletcher hotels or NS customer service will give me a refund and take responsibility for this situation.
It has been extremely frustrating and made me really angry!

Conductor skipped station! Support incompetent!

Total incompetence across the board!

First, the train conductor skipped a station! He apologized for being sleepy (maybe drunk!?), but the station was still missed! How is this possible nowadays!?
The train that departed Bijlmer Arena at 19.04 and was supposed to reach Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel at 19.48. Never reached it! This was on Thursday, September 18th.

This caused delays by more than 30min to my journey.

I went to support to explain the situation. It was obvious that I got an outsourced person who couldn't speak properly neither Dutch, nor English.

At the end, no solution, no responsibility taken for this disaster. Wouter Slechtmees doing anything these days...?

Makes you wonder would anyone continue to pay for these "services"...

It is not just that they are late

It is not just that they are late, cancel trains often when you are sitting but they also display wrong platforms which triggers many travellers to miss their trains. Walking NS NL employees just give wrong information about platforms too. EG: The train from Amsterdam to Deventer from platform 7b at 17,01 doesn’t depart from 7b but from 7a, and even employees deny this when you ask them. It is happening for some weeks. This peple aren’t service minded people, and I wish soon AI will replace them all so they can slack as much as they please.

It’s a piece of garbage

It’s a piece of garbage. Always have problems, and it is so expensive! As a resident it is even more expensive than Switzerland. the refund policy is also garbage, there won’t be 30min delay, because they will just cancel the train!

Most Horrible train operator.

Used 4 months long the train daily/weekly. I can count on one hand the times I’ve had a delay less than 15 min. Additionally, the tickets are super expensive. Having lived all around Europe price quality wise NS is definitely by far the worst train operator I’ve experienced. If you have no other choice but to travel with NS, make sure to schedule ahead delays and work. You usually wont be able to find a seat and will have to stand during the journey, especially during weekends and peak hours.
