I already left one review but….

I already left one review, but I feel compelled to leave another. I truly cannot believe this bank has not been investigated—or even shut down—given the questionable practices I’ve experienced.

A company withdrew funds from my debit card, claiming it was for a subscription. I provided NLB with screenshots from my Apple account clearly showing that I had no such subscription. Despite this evidence, NLB responded that once money is taken from a debit card, they cannot recover it.

This means your money is not safe with them. NLB will neither investigate unauthorized transactions nor protect you if someone is stealing from your account. Please take this into serious consideration before opening a bank account with NLB.

“NLB Slovenia, The Most Incompetent Bank I’ve Ever Dealt With

“NLB Slovenia – The Most Incompetent Bank I’ve Ever Dealt With”

If I could give zero stars, I would. This bank is not just incompetent — it’s dangerous to your financial peace of mind.

Let me tell you what happened.

In 2022, I personally walked into an NLB branch in Slovenia to close my account. I followed every instruction. I spoke with a bank representative face to face. I signed what I was told to sign. They assured me the account was closed. I left the country shortly after, thinking the matter was finished.

Fast forward to 2025 — THREE YEARS LATER — and I receive an aggressive letter from a law firm saying I owe a mysterious debt to NLB. Imagine my shock. I haven’t used the account, I haven’t received a single email or letter from the bank since 2022, and now I’m being hunted for a debt that I never even knew existed?

You know what NLB did?
Instead of contacting me, instead of trying to verify if their internal process failed, instead of checking their own paperwork, they sold this so-called “debt” to a third-party law firm. Like I’m some criminal trying to dodge responsibility — when I did everything right from the start paying any depth to finally close the account( that’s what I was told)
No explanation. No contact. Just passed my info to a legal firm and let them do the dirty work.

This isn’t just a mistake — it’s a complete failure of customer service, data handling, and basic ethics.
It’s gross negligence.

How can a bank operate like this? If I closed my account in person, in a branch, with a human being, how on earth is it my fault if someone at NLB didn’t click the right button or file the right document? And why should I suffer legal threats and reputational damage years later?

I’ve contacted them to clear this up, and — surprise — they are slow, unhelpful, and take zero responsibility. It’s like talking to a wall. Nobody knows anything. Nobody wants to fix it. They act like the law firm is now in charge, and NLB just shrugs and walks away.

I’m warning anyone reading this:
DO NOT BANK WITH NLB SLOVENIA.
They are careless with your information, sloppy with your finances, and won’t hesitate to throw you under the bus for their own errors.
And once you’re gone, they won’t protect you — they’ll just cash in by selling your name to lawyers like you’re just another file to get rid of.

I have lived and banked in multiple countries, and I’ve never seen such irresponsible, unaccountable behavior from a financial institution. This is not how a bank should treat people.

NLB should be ashamed.

Good luck witherawing your own money!

Terrible service. The same practice and legacy before a civil war. They always take your money but getting it out is not possible. We are in 2025- never again. Shame on NLB Montenegro Niksic branch. I also preordered withdrawal of 20k euro…first they said they have no records on this request…then gave me 5000. This is stupid and just wrong business practice!

Disappointed with Hidden Fees and Lack of Proper Notification

I recently discovered that NLB Bank has started charging a 1.5% fee on every quasi-cash transaction, and I am extremely disappointed with how this change was communicated—or rather, not communicated—to customers. Instead of making a clear announcement or ensuring customers were aware of this significant change, the bank chose to bury this information in the account statements.

In today's digital age, most people rely on e-banking and rarely check traditional bank statements. It's unreasonable to expect that customers would catch such an important update this way. This lack of transparency and communication feels misleading and unfair. As a loyal customer, I expected better from NLB Bank. Implementing such fees without proper, prominent notification to the users is unacceptable, and I urge the bank to reconsider this approach and improve its customer communication strategies.
