Easy Hormone free contraception

The band (new since I last used NC) makes logging your temp so easy.
My boyfriend loves the partner app and now makes me stake at the start of my cycle every month.

I started using natural cycles after…

I started using natural cycles after being on hormonal contraception for years. I felt my body needed a break and I wanted to know what my bodies natural cycle would be like although I still wanted to prevent pregnancy. I’ve really enjoyed the apps features that help you learn and understand what happens at each stage of my cycle. The wrist band measuring tool is so easy to use and makes forgetting to measure/ input my temperature almost impossible.

I’ve been using natural cycles to track…

I’ve been using natural cycles to track my periods after some different gynae issues and coming off birth control leading to irregular periods. The app has helped me to understand my body better and track what my symptoms are at different times of the month. I wish they did have areas to improve such as consistency of discharge but it’s small things.

If you want a hormone free alternative

If you want a hormone free alternative, natural cycles us the answer. Me and my partner both have the app so he is just as involved as I am. We’re using it as an alternative to a contraceptive at the moment but will soon switch to track my cycle to get pregnant. It’s so accurate it’s scary. I’m so happy I went natural. You’re more in tuned with yourself and your body and I have not felt this stable mentally in years (coming from a long use of a hormonal coil). Can not recommend this enough.

I started using NC after having my…

I started using NC after having my first child after having such a difficult pregnancy and birth. I find great comfort in understanding my cycle to know when I’m ovulating to prevent pregnancy and knowing where I am in my cycle to help my running training. I also feel at ease knowing what’s happening in my body to understand why I feel a particular way for one reason or another - usually tiredness. The symptom tracker is great too so I find out the next month what my trends were during what part of my cycle.

I enjoy the experience and it’s working for me

I enjoy the experience and it’s accurate for me. However, I think the thermometer prices along with the subscription is too expensive so it’s not accessible to all. For example, I’ve lost my thermometer but cannot afford to buy another one !

Great data, large price increase

Very easily accessible and understandable. I find that the app predicts my cycles and symptoms pretty much exactly right each month. 4 stars because the price went up a great amount this year compared to the past.

I've been using NC for a year now

I've been using NC for a year now, for prevention and its worked as intended. I've held off leaving a review until reaching a full year. I would (and have) recommended it to others. Obviously its efficiency is based on the user adding accurate and consistent data. i
It took a while to get a good portion of green days vs red but worth the perseverance if you don't want to rely on hormonal birth control.

Its been really useful for getting to know more about the menstual cylce and female body in general. Its also good for giving tips based on each phase of the cycle too. I like the little quizzes.

In terms of cost, I think NC is worth it. I'm a bit tight with my money, so its not often I'll outright buy a yearly subscription, but the addition of the oral thermometer when joining for a full year, was a selling point for me. Which I'll review in a mo. Firstly, I want to mention that the only reason I'm not giving NC 5 stars is because I felt like the wrist-band marketing was a bit of a disservice to existing NC users: had I known that I could receive it for free when my next yearly subscription renewed, I wouldn't have bought it at the discounted rate (£40) when it was released. So I felt like a bit of a fool for falling for that. I think even the £40 was bit overpriced.

That being said, the conveience of the wrist band thermometer is great. So heres the comparison of the wristband vs the oral thermometer: With the wristband, it's nice not needing to wake up within a set time frame everday. Its good that it can save multiple days of data and the battery lasts a decent amount of time. There have been 2 occasions when it's not collected any data during the night, despite the battery being sufficient. In terms of comfort, its okay, but just okay. I get a bit irritated by it and it takes me quite a while to forget that I'm wearing it which isn't great in terms of the sensory experience. But the sacrifice is worth the peace of mind, knowing its more reliable than counting on myself to wake up every morning and remembering to use the oral thermometer.

As for the oral thermometer, it was good and definitely an improvement from the older version (which I'd used years earlier). Again, its ability to store multiple days of data is great. The battery seems to last well, Id been using mine for about 9 months before swithcing to the wristband, and its battery seemed to be going strong. It was a little annoying sometimes, if I pressed the wrong button in the morning when half asleep trying to take my temp, it would take about a minute to turn off again, as you can't just turn it off and on again. It worked well, but I did find myself sometimes worrying if I'd taken the temp within the right time frame as I'm someone who partially wakes in the night fairly often. I'd rather err on the side of caution.

TLDR: NC is great, I definitely recommend. Worth the yearly sub. Wrist band is good for convenience but not that comfortable.

Best thing while postpartum

I’ve used this since having my 2nd baby, so I started in the postpartum stage and have shifted into birth control now. It’s been so much easier tracking and understanding my cycle this time around compared to my previous child. The pp side asks relevant questions to track your progress, it suggested the best time to switch stages, and with the partner view I don’t have to tell my husband where I am in my cycle or explain the numerous things I’m going through - NC has so much info for him to read on his own. I just wish he could contribute info as well - like symptoms he notices and sexual activity because sometimes I forget.
