Terrible after sales
Placed an £1000+ order on 2nd Apr and only got one reply from customer service on 4th Apr that delivery would be on the 12th Apr. The delivery never happened. I sent enquirys everyday and have absolutly no reply from customer service what so ever. The experience is terrible. I should have had read those reviews before I made my mind on that purchase. I started suspected it may be a online fraud. I love this japanese brand and used to purchase many of their product when I was in asia. Never thought the experience is so terrible in UK.
If someone in MUJI is reading this, please follow up my order #3028937.
I bought a large book shelves from…
I bought a large book shelves from Muji. Took about 3 weeks for the delivery to arrive. We opened the box and discovered a very bad chip on of the shelf plank. There is no customer service phone number to call so did the online form thing. Took 2 days for someone to get back to me on an email. I replied sent pictures of the damaged goods. No reply since and its been another 3 days!
Appalling customer service!!
No wonder they are struggling
I ordered quite a lot of their PP drawers as I liked the functionality and use of space. Do not get me wrong, the product itself, I really like, but the service from MUJI Online is appalling!
1) The delivery service they used for my furniture was horrendous. Ok, I get it, moving heavy stuff around, you might smell a bit sweaty ... but this person was so smelly that my hallway stunk like stale sweat and urine after and I had to use the MUJI diffuser (how ironic) to disperse the smell.
2) All the boxes had different customers details - names and addresses! Does that mean my name and address is delivered to somebody else? I need to report this to the information commissioner.
3) I suspect my boxes were return items but still in original packaging, that is fine, but the boxes were clearly in a smoker's house because the boxes itself stank horrendously like stale cigarette smoke! Not ideal if you planned to place your clothing into them! After unpacking my entire house smelt like stale cigarette smoke.
4) I complained right away to customer service but it took them 7 working days to respond. They offered to arrange an exchange - ok great news.
5) It was two weeks ago since they told me they would exchange the boxes and nothing has happened. I sent out a chase, trying to find out a manager's email address and gave them until Wednesday before I take the matter to the court.
You would think that a Japanese company is living up to the high customer service standards they are known for worldwide. I have been buying things from MUJI most of my adult life but I will never ever do so again. I am absolutely appalled by their behaviour and after reading other reviews, I realised I am not alone.
I think there is no surprise that they are struggling and subsequently gone into administration, they do not manage their reviews on here, they do not provide a good customer service through their website which is the main way for them to service customers that do not live in London or Birmingham away from their stores! So much untapped potential and it is a huge shame they are clearly not able to leverage that.
Excellent service
The staff at Islington Muji are excellent ambassadors for the company.
We wanted three storage boxes: the store only had one. By opening time the following day they had been ordered in and were at the counter waiting for me. The staff were efficient, helpful and charming.
It was so pleasing to get really good service from staff who took a pleasure in giving the best possible service.
Appalling service
Appalling service. I placed a large order and was told it would arrive yesterday between 9am and 6pm which is a long time to have to wait. Apparently there would be one attempt at delivery only so I waited all day. I have asked three times where my order is and why it wasn’t delivered and I have not received even the courtesy of a ‘thank you for your email’ let alone a reply. They have several hundred pounds of mine and I have nothing as well as a completely wasted fruitless day.
Love the quality of the products and…
Love the quality of the products and the order journey was as expected. Muji offers really impressive quality just wish there was a wider range on the uk website
I wish I had read these reviews before…
I wish I had read these reviews before shopping here.
I spend a lot of money on drawers and they provided no tracking details or any updates. They only information I had was the delivery date I selected on checkout. The day before, a Tuesday, I got some barely legible texts from a private number claiming to be my delivery, but the website clearly states Wed-Sun delivery.
Of course, no customer service or any help from them. not only do they have no service but they seem to be sharing customer details with 3rd parties which is a breach of GDPR for which I'll be reporting them
What’s up with the ancient website to begin with?
I bought a bottle head SPRAY. You know what a spray means right people? It turned out to be faulty in my humble opinion as facial toner doesn’t come out as most but a straight line. Here’s Muji’s response.
“Unfortunately, in regards to the spray bottle, we cannot consider this item faulty, as the spray function is part of the functionality of the spray bottle.
If you are unhappy with this item, please feel free to return any unwanted items in fully resalable condition.”
Apparently it’s not faulty. I mean everyone here is so right about the customer service that it simply doesn’t exist. On top of it, I can return a spray bottle nozzle if it’s in resalable condition. Like how am I meant to know the nozzle is faulty without trying it out in the first place.
Omg, I’m speechless. I’m from Japan and cannot believe how this company operates in this country. I’m fully aware I can’t expect the same standard outside Japan, even from Japanese companies but oh no. My experience was absolutely dreadful.
First of all, the website….are we stuck in 2000s? I don’t even know how it used to be back then but it’s just so awful. I constantly get annoyed by minor issues (sometimes can’t swipe photos, can’t load properly etc) and I get errors trying to place an order. And the description generally is not sufficiently provided imo and VERY INCONSISTENT (eg. PP storage box, some of them don’t have all the dimensions stated in the product detail).
Their stocks constantly go out, and come back randomly which is so frustrating since I can’t buy everything I need at once.
The most unacceptable thing is that they cancel items and send the rest without notifying me. Like why would you let me add items into my cart when there’s no stock in the first place? I don’t even know how they manage stocks and orders but IT REALLY IS POORLY DONE. I was so speechless when I found out they casually cancelled items that were the main things I placed the order for in the first place.
Also, I received a faulty item as well as poor quality cling film which is absolutely overpriced for no reason imo. I expected it to be closer to Japanese cling films (a lot more durable and actually stick well on ceramics), but hell no. It was pretty much identical aa ordinary UK cling films. So what did I pay extra for? Thank god I didn’t get two because I’d have literally broken down. I despise these cling films, I might have to join Costco just for cling films at this point.
Overall, pure disappointment. It’s too stressful to shop at Muji so I’d rather avoid them from now on.
always loved their product!
Refuses a refund and sizing is crazy
My wife bought four medium T-shirts/long sleeve tops. I've bought medium many, many times before and they've always fitted perfectly. This time round, only one did. The smallest T-shirt was 36.5 inches around the chest. This is not a medium. Why have Muji altered their sizes in this way? They also packed them in such a way that they were impossible to open without tearing the plastic bags and cardboard wraparound labels. Yeah, you guessed it...they cannot be returned even though they are unworn. It's a great idea for them because items cannot ever be sent back! Awful company and never again.
Muji is always right???
I returned a few items to Muji. I received an email from Muji telling me that what I claimed was in the package wasn’t actually there. I answered that I had definitely put all items in the package and unless it was open/damaged could they please refund. They refunded only for what they claim was in the package.
The difference to what I claimed £5.95. Really! Muji think that I would lie for that??
The parcel was insured but with no damage I cannot claim. I thought the customer was always right.
Sale pricing stickers the same as increased pricing stickers
I went to the Tottenham court road store during their sale and they have the same stickers for sale items as they have for increased new prices which they just stick over the original prices which are lower. It is confusing and deceptive. I queried this and they just said they had to increase the prices. They should have different stickers for sale items. I will return everything I bought and stop shopping with them. I love all their clever product but the UK enterprise is a disaster.
The website is always broken in one way…
The website is always broken in one way or another. Even the staff from their London shops know it. I've been a client for more than 15 years. Unfortunately now I live too far from any physical store and will avoid purchasing from them if I can.
Muji has broken UK operations
Muji is a fabulous brand. However, the best experience is in Japan, which is a long way to go for the best experience! Muji in the UK has small high street shops that sell a fraction of its range. This means its website should be excellent, enabling customers to purchase items from the full Muji catalogue. Sadly, this isn't the case. The site (when it works) stocks a small range of branded items, and appears to cater to a British customer's tastes. There are many wonderful Japan-centric Muji items in a Japanese store that would be great to see in the UK, helping Muji stand out among our increasingly homogenous clothes shops. However, on more than one occasion, I've placed an order that was eventually cancelled. I also get duplicate emails. Despite not having an adequate inventory system in place, money is still taken before the stock is checked. This is a broken system, and until Muji gets its online act together, I'll start saving for a trip to Japan, where the prices are so much better too!
Stainless Steel Shelving Unit
I recently purchased the Muji Stainless Steel Shelving Unit for my kitchen space, and it has effortlessly elevated both the aesthetic and functionality of the room. Here's why I'm thoroughly impressed with this minimalist marvel:
The simplicity and functionality shines through in the design of this Stainless Steel Shelving Unit. The clean lines and unobtrusive profile make it a perfect fit for any contemporary or minimalist interior.
The sturdy construction ensures that it can accommodate a variety of items without compromising stability. I appreciate the attention to detail in the welding and finishing.
While Muji's commitment to quality is reflected in the price, the long term value and timeless aesthetic make this shelving unit a worthwhile addition to any home. I highly recommend the Muji Stainless Steel Shelving Unit to those looking for a sleek, durable, and versatile storage solution.
Shockingly poor customer service
Shockingly poor customer service. I ordered some drawers weeks ago for delivery on Dec 12th. They never sent me a tracking for the delivery or information about the delivery. It is the 20th now and still no update. I have emailed their customer care without response. Really disappointing, I will be claiming the money back from my credit card as they do not seem to be honouring the purchase so far. I will not shop online with them again.

Very shady pricing practices
I bought two pairs of gloves. When they arrived, the printed price of £12.99 had been covered with a price tag of £19.99. Cynical and disgusting - I'll not purchase from Muji again.
Non existent customer service
Non existent customer service
I wrote to customer services with a complaint about products I had bought and when I got home I noticed a price sticker had been put on the original price raising the price quite considerably.
Customer service just ignored my emails.
Don’t appear to care, just want to increase profits unreasonably
Very poor customer service
Very poor customer service. They charged me for delivery 4.95, now I have to return the jacket cause it was soo big (but according their size chart, should be perfect) and I have to pay for postage again. Never again!
I love their products
I love their products, but quality has been declining steadily for some years. One could find amazing pajamas, slippers, and homewear with this company once. At first the quality was incredible, for the price it was offered at. Unfortunately, since at least 2020, I noticed cotton feels subpar, now its mostly synthetics, and even these synethetics unravel quickly. Please, I ask of Muji to remember their mission and goals at the very beginning of their business when they ought to provide great minimal design and great quality at an affordable price.
