Just finished my First Aid Mental Health training with Colin - the course was really insightful and Colin was a brilliant course leader!
I highly recommend 'The Mental Health First Aid' course! It was very interesting and I have learnt some invaluable skills to take with me. Colin was engaging and personable and made difficult content very accessible!
Great course to learn about mental health first aid - our very skilled instructor Colin led us through the course very well and was very open to questions and discussion. My knowledge and confidence helping others in a mental health crisis increased a lot, and I feel these will be skills that apply broadly and for life.
For the last 18 months I have been a direct support and advocate for somebody going through a diagnosis for a mental illness without even realising I had adopted these roles. I have been stumbling around in the dark feeling overwhelmed, scared and unsure during this time trying to work things out. Taking the MHFA course has been like having someone switch on the light. I have gained so much knowledge and confidence, helping me to better understand what mental health means and develop tools for managing ill mental health. In addition I now have access to a vast range of resources, I really feel this has given me direction and purpose to better support those around me and myself. Thank you to my instructor Colin Beesting and MHFA England.
I've just become a mental health first aider after attending a four-part course hosted by Colin Beesting. It was great! I highly recommend this training to others - whether you are a manager, employee, coach, or similar. Everyone needs to be enlightened on what mental health really is and how to help others in distress or who need support (without always realizing it themselves). No one needs to struggle with mental health issues alone.
Taking part in a Mindshift Mental Health First Aider course has given me skills, awareness and language so I can support friends and family. It's also been fundamental in understanding how I can support and understand my own mental health.
The methodical structure was easy to follow and the practical applications/exercises were engaging and useful. Our leader of the course was warm and friendly, showing real care, knowledge and sharing their thoughtful guidance through often sensitive topics.
Undertaking this course has helped challenge the stigma around mental health and supports that can be accessed.
The course was very thorough and our instructor was patient, thoughtful, and kind. I feel better equipped to talk about mental ill health and how best to approach a situation.
Colin was just the loveliest teacher and guided us with a lot of compassion and thoughtfulness through some very difficult topics. I came away feeling much more prepared to recognise difficult situations and handle difficult conversations.
I attended a two-day online MHFA course, facilitated by Colin.
The course was extremely well paced, with Zoom discussions/workshops led by Colin and independent learning via the online portal (and in workbooks).
A lot of ground was covered in two days, but the delivery was never overwhelming and Colin's approach was incredibly friendly/inclusive/accessible.
I feel much more equipped to engage in MHFA after attending this course and would 100% recommend it. (In fact, I already have!)
Really enjoyed this course. We explored different areas of mental health and the trainer made everyone feel comfortable enough to share personal stories - but you could share as much or as little as you felt comfortable with. It's a very practical course with group activities. I left this course feeling confident about being able to support anyone struggling with their mental health. It also gave me insight into understanding my own behaviours and stress points.
I attended the training for 4 days with short 2-3 morning hour morning sessions. The trainer was animated and it seemed like he has a good knowledge of the subject. It was a very good training and recommend it to anyone who is interested in developing soft skills.
I can’t recommend this course enough. Such important and empowering content delivered clearly, simply and sensitively. I will look forward to more training opportunities with this provider and hope to come across Colin again in the future!
Great course, well presented and delivered. Colin is very approachable and fun to learn with.
I think this would be a great course for young adults/older children as part of their PSHE learning journey...to inform the next generation of Mental Health First Aiders!
All in all, an informative and enabling experience. I would recommend this course to anyone.
A very informative course, especially useful in the present climate of the pandemic, when we are all being challenged . Although not advertised for this I think it also has the potential to reduce lost work days, increase moral and reduce staff turnover.
As a by-product it has the potential to reduce discrimination and stigma not only in regards to mental health but in all protected groups. It could also assist in the development of managers and supervisors people skills.
On the whole a enjoyable and well presented course.
Absolutely amazing course, really helpful and supportive and informative!
Excellent course and instructor, well prepared, calm and interactive learning environment which provided you with confidence to openly participate.
I did an online MHFA course with Colin during the 1st UK Covid Lockdown and it was absolutely brilliant. Considering it was on zoom, everyone felt so engaged, included and like friends by the end of the week. The content was delivered clearly and interestingly, and as a theatre professional I came away feeling clued up to put the skills into practice.
I recently took part in Mental Health Frist Aid training. I found the sessions really informative and rewarding. Our trainer was brilliant, he made me feel comfortable sharing personal experiences by creating a 'safe space' within our training environment for all of us to share experiences confidentially. He also managed to cultivate a fantastic atmosphere within our group, many of us had never met before and were from various backgrounds, this achievement was particularly impressive as our whole course was conducted remotely via a Zoom call. Whilst the course itself can be very full on at times, I felt it was presented in a sensitive and considerate manner. Overall it was a very enjoyable course in which I learned a lot and would highly recommend to anyone interested in enhancing their understanding of such a vitally important topic.
