  1. Bank

Information provided by various external sources

We’ve built a different kind of high street bank. A bank with stores that are open when it suits you, 7 days a week. A bank where you can walk in without an appointment and walk out with a working account, debit card and all. A bank that tells you exactly what you’re getting, in language that actually makes sense. A bank that puts you first.

Don't do it, don't bank with these people, don't belive the PR

As a small businessman I bought into the projected image of a modern bank doing things differently.

After 8 uneventful years MetroBank changed their rules regarding signatories.

Long story short, business account has been frozen for 3 months, I can't access funds but I also can't close the account down.

I'm undecided as to whether my initial point of contact Raja Rantham is actually an A.I. bot because I fairly sure all the email replies were generic cut and paste.

After being given contact details to escalate the case and a long email to that contact ................................................................................................................................................................................................................ silence.

Blinkered, deaf, single minded and autocratic are the polite terms I'll probably get posted .

This is account that has been run in good order, a chartered accountant does the yearly figures, there is no question as to legality of the cleared funds , AML is not an issue and I jumped through all the KYC on account opening . But they could deny access on what amounts to a whim.

I've been covering the business commitments from what I earn from my day job

MetroBank :- The Relationship bank, that's one of the promotional lines .

MetroBank:- A gaslighting Ex partner , would be more appropriate .

Very Poor

I reported an issue of incorrect money coming out of the machine. When on a call after passing through security I was hung up on.
I fed this back and they drafted a complaint. The complaint being fairly easy to view and resolve, they admitted calls were hung up but still did not uphold the complaint.
I had also asked for the person dealing with the complaint to not contact me as they seemed more interested in there time off than me as a customer. This request was ignored and that same person contacted me today.
Very poor and would not recommend unfortunately even though my Bank manager Sian is very good.

Terrible Customer Support

I transferred to Metro Business Acct. 3 years ago. Their Customer Service and support is terrible. If you phone a basic enquirey can take an hour waiting for answers and/or someone to pick up the phone. They are understaffed and do not attempt to resolve these issues. As a result I am transferring to another Business Account Bank who have a better rating, no account fee charges and no minimum amount required in the account - Starling.

Customer service

I opened an account at the Piccadilly london branch of Metro in April 2026 and Shweta Pattani was exceptional in making it a seamless operation to set me up. Shweta explained everything clearly and was very effecient & friendly and made me feel very welcome. Shweta is a valuable member & a role model in customer service.
I was back recently to get another service to my bank account & once again Shweta managed my query . I look forward to a long relationship with Metro.

Absolutely pathetic service highly…

Absolutely pathetic service highly unprofessional unethical and have zero sympathy, they froze my account for no reason, even after repeatedly telling them that the money came from the family.
There was a death in my family and I couldn’t get the money
Totally disgusting they don’t even reply only send automated emails
Please avoid any cost
The financial ombudsman should look into this and shut them down
Total waste !

A refreshing bank experience

A very unexpected experience from a bank
I was greeted with a smile and when I enquired about opening a new business account, all I got was a ‘yes let’s see what we can do for you’ I was blown away by this response, rather than the usual response of being directed to an online portal, as had been my previous experience with other high street banks. The ability to talk face to face with a business banking advisor should never be underestimated, and they still have a high street presence.
I could go on , however, it would take far to long to type or read.
Summing up, a very refreshing banking experience, and I would at this point recommend a chat with them.

Got locked out of my account for 5…

Got locked out of my account for 5 days. Rang 3 times and was told I gave the wrong credentials. On the third call I gave the exact same details after being told they were wrong and is why the website locked my account. Absolute tosh! The third advisor got the account unlocked with the so called wrong credentials. Thankfully it is not my main account! Beware of their ineptitude.

Opening a Deposit Account

I wanted to open a Deposit Account for my TT club after the previous one had finished. You cannot do this on line so I had to make a phone call. The first 3 people I contacted were useless!!! One left me hanging on for 10 minutes before I ended the call, the second told me to apply online which I already knew was impossible. The third curtailed our call citing urgent business then did not answer subsequent emails. Finally contacted the person that I opened the account with. He was helpful but I still had to jump through hoops. The system would not accept jpegs, the forms supplied to open the account had to be downloaded then filled in by hand (back to the dark ages!) then scanned. I then had to set up a club EGM to obtain permission for me to request to open the account. Overall the process took about 5 weeks during which I was NOT earning any interest on several thousands of £s!! Luckily I only have to do this once a year. I have learnt a lot but the Metro bank systems need to be a lot more club customer friendly.

Went to the Borehamwood branch to pay money in. 3 people in front of me in the queue and 4 people behind me. Only one member of staff on the counter. The only other staff person in view was a lady behind one of the other desks and when I asked why she couldn't help out I was told she didn't work at the branch! Service definitely not what it used to be.

Metro Bank gone downhill

Metro Bank used to be brilliant to deal with. Now you are just passed onto a bot that takes you around in circles. Poor show Metro Bank. Go back to how you were. This service has turned rubbish. Such a shame.
