“I can’t thank this company enough for…

“I can’t thank this company enough for their incredible support. When I first called, I was in complete panic, but Jess and Alistair immediately put me at ease with their guidance and compassion. They took the time to walk me through everything, offering clear direction and reassurance when I needed it most. I have had to use their services for two separate reasons, and both times, their guidance and support led to a successful outcome. Now, years later, I can confidently say that every recommendation they made has proven invaluable. Their expertise and care made all the difference, and I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out again if needed. Highly recommend!”

You are better off to get a Family Lawyer

We used Mediate uk for the initial aspects of divorce and will cease using mediation such as this. So my advice: whatever you do, do not use Mediate UK if there’s even a hint of coercive behaviour, safeguarding issues, disagreement or control issues in your relationship with the person you are divorcing. They have no boundaries with emails (even private matters raised will be forwarded and CC) they do not respect any safeguarding issues there could be, and when I raised this I was shut down and then my email forwarded anyway.
My advice is to read as much as possible yourself from the resources out there.
Do not bother with the free call it’s always to get your booked in and everything they talk about is because it is “that is our process” so you cannot ask specific questions anyway.

You can learn how to write a form e financial disclosure with online guidance. Then use your hard earned reserves to pay for a local family lawyer and cap the hours they can do, while you do as much yourself to understand your own position.
To be clear: Mediate is no cheaper than a lawyer even if they tell you it is, it is not.

Mediate UK charge each session per person so be aware of this. I am shocked at how red flags of controlling behaviour were not acted on. In their quest to remain neutral they actually create more issues than solve issues. Our parenting plan was not completed in the allotted time (“you can book more time”) nor was our financial plan completed with any questions, as she ran out of time and kept saying we can book more sessions.
I have major concerns that Mediate UK are not able to respond appropriately to signs of trauma or coercion and could actually place clients in a far more vulnerable position. I am appalled that this mediation industry even can get away with some of the safeguarding issues it creates by being “neutral” and even insisting that every communication is to both parties does not recognises dynamics that could be potentially harmful. Read up on it yourself, fill out as many forms yourself, spend your time reading up, and then go to a lawyer for the last parts of your divorce. Don’t bother with Mediate UK. This is my experience and I sent these concerns as a complaint and not one of my concerns was taken seriously.

Hello. I am sorry that mediation was not a good experience for you. I agree that mediation was not the right service for you based on what you needed and a lawyer approach may work better for you. I do slightly disagree with your view that lawyers are cheaper than mediation as to get to the stage you are at with financial disclosure completed and a financial statement would usually cost in excess of £1000 through a lawyer, so I hope we did save you some money. I understand your complaint is being dealt with internally by our manager and I appreciate this is a difficult time for you, if you would like to have an hour's call with me to go through your situation and offer my advice, or if you would like us to give you a free session of counselling to help you on your way, just send me an email to alistair@mediateuk.co.uk - we do wish you all the best in your future.

Incompetent, wastage of time & money at difficult time

Horrible experience from the start, given a mediator who kept burning your money and time and runs session without agenda and any inputs. When raised concerns to management, they jumped on us instead of addressing the issue. Spent ~1.2k and wasted 3 months for just Child arrangement which we were pushed into and wasn't even in the plan. Just avoid if you want to save yourself from further miseries in difficult times

Reading response below, you can add that they can lie as well to save their face as nothing happened to suggest “the way you spoke to our female colleagues was not acceptable” Disgusting!
You had to stop working because I claimed back £350 for the wasted 90 minutes and I wasn’t prepared to let you extract more money with zero output. Speak truth for god’s sake.
Adding £500 voucher in the remark has nothing to do with your organisation. it’s government scheme and we asked you for it to be arranged. It was not offered as a help as depicted. Expense above is still correct which was on top of this voucher.

We are sorry we had to stop working with you as a client. I have a duty of care to my mediators and staff and the way you spoke to our female colleagues was not acceptable. I am delighted we helped you reach a parenting plan for your children as per your request that will benefit them moving forwards and that you also benefited from a £500 government voucher that we arranged for you. We wish you all the best in your future.

I used Mediate UK to sort out my divorce at a really difficult time. Made even harder by the coronavirus outbreak! We started with our mediator in meetings and then moved online, which I actually preferred as it made it less emotional. Our mediator, Ian Lovatt was great and helped us focus throughout.
