Had a terrible experience with Mc Raes Estate Agents. I found a property to rent through this Estate Agent. Paid holding deposit while they were doing referencing checks. However, they kept property advertised in all websites including their own after I had given the holding deposit with the promise to remove property from the marked. Moreover, they took too long to get references with Employer although we are calling them to speed up the process. They said they could not do anything as they hire a third party company to do the checks. As a result, they kept part of the holding deposit stating it had passed the 15 days period to pass referencing. Also, they made false allegations that my husband's pay slips were fake because there was no income tax deductions although he had no deductions because he was on the tax fee allowance period but they just assumed we were given misleading information and on these grounds they kept our money. When I try to escalate the complaint they threatened us saying if we do escalate they would report my husband company for not paying tax. They follow all the complaint procedure response in writing but called me directly several times to make these threats so I cannot prove it. I could not believe I was dealing with a such a dodgy company. I would not recommend this Estate Agents. They are not reliable.
