Absolutely Appalling Service – Unsafe, Intimidating, and Completely Unprofessional

This was one of the most distressing and unacceptable public-transport experiences I have ever had.

To start with, the driver sped off before either of my elderly parents had even managed to sit down. This was was abrupt, careless, and showed a complete disregard for passenger safety. If this ever happens again and one of them is injured, I will not hesitate to take legal action. Passengers should not have to fear for their wellbeing the moment they board a bus. If this company's excuse for this madness is that they have a timetable to adhere to, then I simply do not CARE for this pathetic attempt at an explanation, and GOD FORBID we end up in a legal battle, NO ONE will respect this appalling excuse for physically injuring innocent people.

The driver’s attitude was equally appalling. When I boarded and politely explained that I had a train ticket (as ScotRail had instructed me to do due to a signalling failure), he responded in a patronising, dismissive way, telling me to “slow down” and then glaring at me as though I had done something wrong. It seems that if you aren’t buying a ticket directly on the bus, you are treated with contempt. His behaviour felt targeted, aggressive, deeply intimidating, and utterly disproportionate to the situation.

After reading the many other scathing reviews online, it’s clear that I am far from alone. This kind of behaviour appears to be a pattern across McGill’s drivers, and at this rate, it seems only a matter of time before the company collapses under the weight of its own customer complaints.

The atmosphere on board was also unacceptable. At 1pm on a Thursday, passengers were openly drinking cans of Stella. The overall experience felt chaotic, unpleasant, and, quite honestly, not even fit for a third-world nation, never mind a public transport service operating in Scotland, where this man's attitude is completely out of place and unwelcome.

Between the unsafe driving, the hostility, and the complete lack of professional standards, McGill’s has lost my trust entirely. I would genuinely rather walk 1,000 miles than ever step onto one of their buses again.

Avoid at all costs.

In general quite a nice experience

McGills bus service has been cancelled absolute breath of fresh air since I began to use them around November 2024.
Moved out to Renfrew town centre so U frequent them to get in and out of Paisley town centre, Braehead Shopping Centre and further to Glasgow City centre.
I find the service to be frequent and on time. In fact, often enough, I find them to be remarkably so.
I also find the drivers to be in general quite personable and rather friendly.

Damp Bus

Today i got the 54 home and it was riddled with damp as the paint was acually peeling off the smell was horrendous and when asked the driver he tried to say it was the engine. Damp can cause serious health issues especilly for those who have bad asthma. Bus needs a serious update absolutly shocking.

This is a fkn joke not a public transport. Timetables does not work, always late or not coming at all, 2 miles journey takes 2 hours, dirty, stinky busses, rude drivers. Totall crap. That’s a fkn 3rd world country with the 19th century publik transport run by imbeciles.

Arogant driver!

Went home on the bus at 14.05 from Blendfield to Stirling .As soon I step on bus i ask for tickets!Driver didn't even say haloo back to me! He was angry hitting ticket machine! I gave him exact amount of cash in hand He replied what piece of shite! Sitting there arrogantly .I ask him If he is alright he said arogantly not I am not!!! A other time to work ! Driver was driven mad!.I stood up and ask him to slow down! Using these services now for two years .Not all of them are like this but this is so unpleasant and irresponsible driving! Most of to.e young drivers and older too! Also is the miracle to get through customer services! They don't answer the phone! They don't reply for mails! Left couple of people's on the bus stop! Also beeping for every one they don't like! This is horrible ondrly no nice service! In my two years I had to travel by bus ! But is very unpleasant when someone behaving to you like this!

Bus 26

The driver on bus 26 Glasgow towards Braehead was lacking professionalism with his abrupt responses and lack of patience on Sunday the 31st of August around 4 PM. We all have bad days, I hope for his future business prospects they are few. Having patience is real strength.

Put On Public Bus Transport Instead Of Coach

I purchased a round trip ride from the cruise port in Greenock to Glasgow. I boarded the McGill bus along with 6 to 8 other cruise passengers. We were then driven around the corner, told to get out and were put onto a public transport bus to Glasgow. A employee from McGills coordinated this transfer said "they don't like to run buses that aren't full". She gave no additional instructions to us about where to get off or return. As it was public transport, the bus stopped several times while enroute to pick up additional local riders, it was not the direct ride I had paid for. I had no idea where to get off, but upon arriving to the central area of Glascow, near George Square, the public bus driver said to get off at the next stop and I did. When it was time to return, I went back to where I was left off and found out it was not the correct location. At this point, I did consult the McGills brochure and read that the bus picks up at the Buchanan Bus Station and walked over there. While waiting for the bus, I spoke to the employees of McGills, I suggested that if public transport is used, it would be helpful if the person that assists would tell people where to get off and back on again. The employees were so rude! "Do you expect us to talk to 4000 people? You were given a brochure, read it!" I said, this was an exception, we were put on public transport, unfortunately, not a one of the 4 employees was kind or receptive. Secondly, I surely didn't pay to be put on public transport. I'm sure if I had paid the local bus directly, it would have significantly less expensive. Not a good experience, not recommended!

First Class Service

Fantastic service from the Driver of the 61 bus at 6.30pm on Sunday to Foxbar. He made contact with every passenger, to make their journey considerate and pleasurable. A real credit to your company.

First time I travelled on McGill's coaches

First time I travelled on McGill's coaches to Largs,I found their coaches very clean and spacious, drivers to and from my destination were polite and curtious. A wee lesson to the other coach companies whose drivers don't even acknowledge you boarding their vehicle and show some distain if you take too long boarding.
