We are the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, offering high quality age-exclusive retirement properties to more than 20,000 homeowners across the UK. For all communities opened since 2010 we remain landlord and managing agent, looking after the wellbeing of our homeowners and managing our properties. We believe that life in older age is something to be enjoyed and celebrated, and our developments offer a welcoming sense of community and a diverse range of facilities and services to enhance everyday life. Our customers are at the heart of what we do and we are proud to have been awarded the Home Builders Federation 5-star customer satisfaction award every year we have taken part in the survey. For developments built prior to 2010, where we are not the landlord nor managing agent, please direct any questions to FirstPort, who look after these schemes.

My 90-year-old mother decided to move back to the UK last year to be closer to family, and finding the right home for her was hugely important. From our very first visit to Jacob Place in Saffron Walden, we were impressed by the location, facilities and, above all, the staff.
Mum moved into her apartment this spring and couldn’t be happier. It’s modern, safe, beautifully situated and has a lovely south-facing view. More importantly, she has made wonderful friends and quickly become part of a warm, welcoming community. The site boasts an excellent, spacious clubhouse for communal dining and activities, from Scrabble Club and knitting to quiz nights and seasonal events.
A special thank you to Deborah, the Sales Manager, who patiently guided us through countless questions and visits, and to Alexa, the House Manager, for making Mum feel so welcome from day one. Every single member of staff we’ve met has been kind, helpful and professional.
Mum feels secure, settled and very content (and we’re very relieved!). We honestly couldn’t have hoped for more.

I recently stayed in the guest suite at Stanley Place, Garstang, when I visited my parents. Carla the house manager made sure that I had everything that I needed and the room was beautiful. It was immaculately clean and felt like I was in a luxury hotel. What a fantastic facility you have and a lovely, caring manager who goes out of her way to make sure that everyone is happy.

Finham Court, Kenilworth. I have lived here since June 26 and I do not regret it. The positioning of the Court just off the High Street is perfect. Hayley the House Manager is amazing and always goes above and beyond in every task. The friends I have made are all lovely. I would recommend this lifestyle to anyone who seeks independence within a community.

First class service from initial contact through subsequent application procedure, very ably and patiently handled by Beth Jonas. But despite a legal background I found the lay-out of the application forms extremely confusing and particularly unhelpful to persons not in a position to edit PDF documents.

Mum has recently purchased an apartment in Cwrt Gloddaeth and settling in very well, meeting other owners who are all lovely and making new friends. Thanks to McCarthy & Stone for facilitating the purchase and particularly Helen Egan who has been very helpful & patient through the process, even helping us to move in at the last minute on her day off !

This goes out to our lovely house manager Louise. She has been here for a couple of years and has a warm hearted way of working with the home owners. Louise has put us in touch with maintenance people who we feel we can trust. Always difficult when you move house and don’t know trades people.
She is honest and trustworthy and always willing to help.
Louise works in a professional way being a good go between ourselves and McCarthy Stone. Thank you Louise. It’s a joy to give you a heads up on Trust Pilot
I live in Dunmow at Stane House

When your loved one dies the management fees remain at the same level , in our case over £1000 a month and the council tax doubles after 12 months . You will loose thousands and be unable to sell your property.

Had another amazing afternoon at Whyburn Court. The house manager, Jane Taylor, once again went beyond her job title has she has done on numerous occasions and arranged a wonderful time with an excellent buffet and Martin, the guitarist, gave us a fabulous show.

One of the enormous benefits of having a McCarthy Stone retirement apartment is the Guest Suite, either as a homeowner visiting other areas of the country but equally important for us, only having a one bedroom apartment, is the Guest Suite in our development at Hampson Court. Our family and friends who visit regularly have consistently been impressed with the facility which despite being of modest size is presented in such a lovely way by our House Manager, Vanessa Deans. Thank you Vanessa from June and I for your attention to detail and welcoming space for our visitor's.

I have mobility problems following a stroke.I was introduced to Jill Elliot by Lindsay Grant, Manager, Marden Court.I was most impressed by Jill's professionalism and likeable nature. her first step was to sit down with me and discuss my needs including a tour of my flat. She was very professional and thorough. She has since provided the services, the results have been excellent. Thank you.

I am a one finger typist so this will be brief.we moved in to locks view in Swindon in April.
Caroline craig-cordell gave us the initial tour and then was very helpful in our purchase and always supportive.
I would also like to praise Aleks Clayton for her help in filling out particular forms which were successful without their help we would not be here.
Our service manager is Sharon who is very pleasant and always helpful.
We have a lovely one bed apartment with a balcony overlooking the canal we are very happy here and do not regret the move at all.
Thank you for all the help.

We bought tickets for the Teddy Bears picnic, organised to raise funds for the McCarthey Stone Foundation at The Marbury Court development in Northwich.
From the time we arrived to when we left we were given a very warm welcome from all the staff. Such a lively atmosphere with a live band, tombola, raffle, food plus ice cream van.
Great way to spend a couple of hours in lovely surroundings.
The staff worked incredibly hard to decorate the halls with balloons and teddies of all size and description.
All credit to Shelly and the team for a very enjoyable outing. We ranged from 90 years of age to 3 years and all had a wonderful time.

I have had poor experience after buying an apartment. There were several issues one appalling where by fire door had been passed, it had in fact been wrongly cut meaning I could even see the lights in the corridor outside. The gap was far too high and would have not stopped smoke ect (11.8) Newtons (pressure of closing far too high This like the other issues ie carpets broken down flour like substance coming out took several months like fire door to be resolved. it was like Mc &S . As said there were other issues, you need permission for virtually anything. As a wheelchair user accessibility is an issue even the scooter store doors did not work for ages. The service charges are high which was expected & was reasonably happy to pay BUT the level of service that you pay for is terrible. You expect to go up a little but some by over 100%! Mmm . When the wonderful house manager is not there (working 9-2 mon to fri) We have only appello the care button to use & when she is on annual leave or various days off we were left for 10 days (except for someone supposedly coming over for 2hrs after 8 days) wouldn’t know didn’t see her.
I must iterate that it is Mcarthy & Stone that I have issues with NOT the house manager. Louise at Stane house cannot be faulted.

The teddy bear picnic at Marbury court was a great day, the team were very helpful and did such a great job with the event itself and decorating the development.

Stayed in the guest suite at Dawson Grange Ripon, a beautifully presented room and lovely that Janet, the house manager, called in on her day off to welcome us. Sue
