Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 64 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many individuals frequently complained about deeply unhelpful customer service experiences, long waiting times, and a complete lack of accountability or empathy from management teams when problems arose. Visitors also noted excessive price increases, unexpected extra charges on their bills, and completely unresolved issues regarding their hotel bookings or missing items. However, some customers also noted that certain staff members were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and provided prompt assistance during their visits. A few other reviewers genuinely enjoyed wonderfully clean rooms, fantastic accommodations, and pleasant hotel locations while staying at specific properties.

hermes belt stolen!

I stayed between April 20 and 26 2024 - I have over 345 nights with Marriott - during my stay an $800 Hermès belt was stolen from me - On April 24 around 5.45pm after I came back to my room, a couple of minutes later, 2 cleaning ladies entered my room like if it was theirs, doing a video call with someone else and mentioning something about the room. They immediately left…with my belt probably! I contacted the hotel several times and the manager didn’t come back to me. In 1 week I will place a chargeback for my entire stay if this is not resolved.

Courtyard by Marriott Hamburg Airport

Courtyard by Marriott Hamburg Airport, Hamborg.
Hvis man overvejer et billigt wellness ophold med det hele, så kan dette sted varmt anbefales til familier og par.

her lidt plusser og minusser:
+ Spa, pool, massage, billig parkering, god service, Fint hotel værelse med stort tv, køleskab, el-kedel, opbevaring, pænt badeværelse. Stort morgenmads buffe, Billigt. etc.
- Ligger lidt langt væk fra centrum og andre spisesteder. thats it.

Beware the deposit

Stayed at the Springhill Suites by Marriott at 338 W36th Street, Midtown, Manhattan.
I understand that this is not a mainline Marriottt hotel but a more budget brand within the Marriott group. However whilst the room was not huge it contained a king size bed a small wardrobe and desk with chair. There was a small sofa and a fridge, microwave oven and coffee maker. The bathroom contained a large walk in shower with good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner. We slept soundly during our six night stay with no outside disturbance - amazing considering the location. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and coffee. Bed linen was changed once during our stay
Breakfast was included in the price and was perfectly adequate. It was all buffet style using paper plates and plastic cutlery. There was limited choice of hot food which was different on each morning and there was plenty in the cold selection. For the price we were happy.
The hotel seemed to be always busy but the staff were polite and professional during our interactions.
The location is super for visiting all the main sights of Midtown, Central Park and main shopping areas with some great restaurants nearby.
On a negative note, the hotel takes a deposit of $300 which is supposed to be refunded after check out. I am still waiting for the deposit to be repaid 25 days later! The hotel has assured me that it will be paid within "21 working days". I don't really understand in this day and age of instant bank transfers why this takes so long. So the hotel lost a star for that.

Marriott is not what it used to be.

March 17, 2024

On March 9th, 2024, we arrived at the Delta Hotels by Marriott located at 800 3rd Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia. We had reserved the Executive Suite and paid in full at the time of reservation through Orbitz (3rd party) on February 26, 2024. However, when we arrived at 2pm on March 9th, we were informed they had no more of the Executive Suite rooms available. There was no prior notice that we had been bumped.
We were offered a lesser room that didn’t meet our needs and $10.00 dollars off our bar tab (we don’t drink). After we refused, we were offered accommodation elsewhere that also did not meet our needs. And this is the second consecutive visit to this Marriott location that this happened to us…see below.

Delta Hotels by Marriott
On August 20, 2023, we arrived at the Delta Hotels by Marriott located at 800 3rd Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia. We had reserved the Presidential Suite directly with Delta Hotels & Reservations on February 28, 2023. However, when we arrived, again, our reserved accommodations were not honored by Marriott. Again, no prior notification given. We were offered lesser accommodations or a room elsewhere in West Virginia that, again, did not meet our family needs.

On both occasions, we traveled 11 hours. Arrived at the location early at 2:00pm and was tired after the long drive from New York. We come to visit our adult children and grandchildren and this Marriott location is conveniently 10 minutes away from them. It both surprises me and infuriates me that Marriott as a brand would do this to any customer...especially a repeat customer.
We ‘book’ our needs based on who might accompany us on a trip. The fact that Marriott or Orbitz, upon realizing their mistake, did not sufficiently work to make things right with us is unconscionable. And Marriott offering a $10.00 dollar bar discount is insulting.
This experience by Marriott is unacceptable. See Marriott’s vision and mission statement below:

We Pursue Excellence
Our dedication to the customer shows in everything we do.
Marriott’s reputation for superior customer service dates back to J. Willard Marriott’s original goal for his business: “good food and good service at a fair price.” We take pride in the details—every day, in every destination worldwide.

Exceptional Service Beyond Expectations - A Birthday to Remember!

I recently celebrated my 60th birthday at the Marriott Hotel in Liverpool City Centre, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was impeccable, making my celebration truly memorable.

The evening was filled with joy as friends and family gathered in the elegant setting of the hotel. The staff's attentiveness and professionalism were outstanding. They anticipated our every need and ensured that everything ran smoothly, allowing me to relax and enjoy every moment of my special day.

However, what truly amazed me was the exceptional level of care even after the festivities had ended. Upon realising that my birthday cake hadn't made it home with me, I was understandably disappointed. But the Marriott team didn't hesitate to rectify the situation. Despite the distance and inconvenience, they arranged for my cake to be delivered to my doorstep via Uber, all at their own expense. This act of kindness truly touched my heart and exemplified their dedication to customer satisfaction.

I would also like to extend my personal thanks to the manager, whose name unfortunately escapes me, for overseeing such a seamless event. Additionally, I want to express my gratitude to Chelsea, who played a crucial role in setting up the event. She regularly kept in touch with me, ensuring that every detail was exactly as I had planned.

I cannot praise the Marriott Liverpool City Centre team highly enough. Their commitment to excellence and genuine care for their guests is unparalleled. My birthday celebration surpassed all expectations, thanks to their unwavering support and exceptional service. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you, Marriott, for making my 60th birthday a day to cherish forever!

JW Marriott Grand Lakes Orlando - service so bad it changed our minds about returning

I reserved a room for February 13, 2024 that provided for an upgrade to a suite if one was available. When we arrived, the person at the front desk who was checking us in indicated a suite was available, but we would not be upgraded to a suite. After much discussion, i requested the involvement of a manager. The manager, after further discussion, told that a suite was not available. The process took approximately 45 minutes and left me uncertain about what I was being told. We went to our nonsuite room and waited for our luggage. After approximately 20 minutes, having not received the luggage, I called to check on the status of the luggage. I was told the luggage was on its to our room. 20 minutes later I went to the lobby and found our luggage. It had not been moved. By the time the luggage got to the room, it had taken approximately 1.5 hours since we arrived to check-in and get our luggage. We were frustrated.

The following day we had a couples massage at the spa (next door at the Ritz Carlton which connects to the JW Marriott). My masseuse was incompetent. I left the spa feeling physically uncomfortable. My girlfriend's masseuse did a good job.

We ordered room service for dinner. The food came, not on a tray with plates and utensils, but in a bag, almost like receiving food from a delivery food service at a residence.

After we checked out, I didn't receive an emailed receipt as is standard operating procedure, nor did I get a customer survey to complete.

We have been to this hotel previously. This time, the service was so poor and pervasive, that we won't return.

Courtyard Petoskey at Victories Square

Courtyard Petoskey at Victories Square
(Petoskey, MI, USA)

New in 2019, the hotel is on the outskirts of Petoskey. It is a 5-8 minute drive to the charming, lakeside town. The hotel is near several shopping and food options such as Meijer and Starbucks (all less than a 5-minute drive).

Rooms are clean and staff is helpful. The lobby bar is a welcome addition. Thee is a an outdoor fire pit and pool with hot tub that makes relaxing easy and convenient.

Rooms with a view look out over the back of the hotel towards hilly countryside.

Drawback:

•There is not a free continental breakfast. When we travel with kids, we find it super helpful for them to have a light breakfast/snack at the hotel to get them by until later in the morning.
There is a limited breakfast menu available from the onsite Bistro for a fee ($$). An acceptable option for a couple but could be limiting for a family on a budget.

However, It is still an excellent option.

We have stayed here twice and will definitely book again when we return to the area.

The Marriott Northampton UK does not have a spa or pool

The Marriott hotel Northampton uk is advertising themselves as still having a spa which is what we thought we booked on arrival found that it had closed over 2 years ago and they now only have a gym yet they have not ensured there hotel presence online is updated I’ve checked reviews and this has happened to lots of other guests but yet they take no responsibility for it. Also charged you for 2 rooms claiming we had booked 2 rooms when we haven’t and had proof we hadn’t they said they had cancelled the error booking but still charged us for it total of £300 total scam company and the good reviews on here I believe to be fake.

Marriott - booking scam to extort additional revenue out each booking

All this as a Platinum member
I have never know any hotel brand to deliberately extort more revenue per booking as Marriott does.
On 3 separate bookings, I picked hotel, rate and the room. Once confirmed, I received message “Sorry server is busy at this moment, it is not you, try again later”. You go back later, the same hotel and room and now at a higher rate. I spoke to their customer service, the kind and very nice lady, had the same issue. She said that she would let their IT people know because she has never experienced this before.
I booked another hotel for 4 nights in different continent. At check in, I was told only 3 nights were booked. Marriott had sent info to local hotel that I had only booked 3 nights and that 4th night be charged at going rate ($330/night). Fortunately, the people at the hotel were absolutely brilliant and very flexible to allow me to stay for the 4 nights and not charge extra night.
I had booked another Marriott hotel for 9 nights just before experiencing this issue on their website. I was going back and forth so many times and having to change the dates as many times, without realising that I was booked for 1 night on the days that I wasn’t even in that country. To book for 9 nights, I had to accept 50% increase in the rate. I complained to the management at Marriott but they only offered original rate after I booked at competitor brand near by.
Mr. Capuano (CEO of Marriott) is refusing to answer any emails I have sent him.

More quality control could improve experiences.

Marriott offers comfortable, modern hotel rooms and friendly service. But quality and pricing vary greatly between locations leading to inconsistencies. Check-in and billing issues occur occasionally as well. I give them 3 stars - decent accommodations but they lack property condition standardization.

I had excellent experience at this establishment in oak brook although again the price was a little bit high and I probably should have read myself my own room but. But that's neither here nor there. I'm all too glad I did not get to eat the room service food cuz it was looking a little bit High actually wait a minute I ate the breakfast and seriously haven't eaten that type of breakfast in years. Lunch however well that's a different story. Hahaha

From Loyal Lifetime Platinum to AVOID!

I have been Loyal Lifetime Platinum to the Starwood Brand (Sheraton, FourPoints, Aloft, Westin, W). These were all AMAZING properties prior to marriott ownership. One NEVER questioned the comfort, customer service nor ability to sleep at a Starwood property. I am now in my bed at a Sheraton and it is 100% cheap as crap marriott vs sticking to the Starwood brand tenements as so promised. I am freezing in the bed as the sheets are so thin and the comforter is barely existent. All Starwoods had amazing bed linens which I learned to enjoy during my life as a road warrior. marriott has destroyed my comfort places. Time to find a new Brand. I'm sure the new Brand will grant equivalent status. MARRIOTT SUCKS! La Quinta is more comfortable and has better customer service! I guess supporting the Church of LDS has become to expensive for Marriott so they need to cut the bed linen cost. YES. Marriott is Mormon! Big Love baby!

I stayed at Hotel Dena

I stayed at Hotel Dena, a Marriott hotel in Pasadena, and it was the worst experience of my 60 years on this planet. The place was filthy. Not just a little dirty, but like we were staying in a homeless encampment. And it was not cheap! I wouldn't stay there again if it were free!

Fairfield Tamarac Florida

For Fairfield Tamarac Florida, one star is much for this Hotel, it was appalling. I had to call customer service, thank God, I had a manager who helped me find another hotel, the Courtyard Plantation, so I could get a room to rest. Emanuel's service was appalling, and his manager was even worse than what I had taught. It was 10 p.m. and I couldn't check in.
I am a Gold Member, but let me tell you I am completely done with Marriott for the awful awful service. The staff is insensitive and unhelpful(Emanuel and his manger). I opened an account with Hyatt hotels, which I will use for future trips because they have far better customer service and cheaper rates. Good bye Bonvoy!
