Works quite well
Works quite well, but some people will try to scam you. But with 'Gelijk oversteken' payments this became very difficult ;)
Scammer paradise
The website seems to coordinate with the scammers. You can get scammed by people who use accounts that have been active for ten years. These have probably been hacked. The website's safety seems to be completely compromised and the domain takes no action to remove old or fake profiles. They don't verify or ID their anonymous users, leaving both buyers and sellers to be ripped off. They claim to have an anti-fraud cell, which either isn't real or is corrupted. Maybe the staff gets bribed by the criminals to assist them. I've read different stories of people being ripped off via the site, and they all come down to this: (1) seller has been active on the site for many years without bad reviews, (2) contact seems legit and they use fake whatsapp/facebook profiles if you go out of the marktplaats website to make themselves seem real, (3) they give you a bank account number of a Dutch bank (e.g. Rabo), (4) you pay via bank transfer, and marktplaats almost immediately takes down the article, sending you an email that it was a fraudulent add. (5) Boom, you lost XXX euros! That's it. Marktplaats is almost unreachable and their responses are not genuine. They don't give a damn. The bank of the criminal will not respond. Nothing happens.

I do not recommend scam service
It works sometimes, but the experience is poor
As a pro, there is a huge variety of items (even cats or pigeons, some for free adoption).
The worst cons are aggressively bargaining, unresponsive or just lying potential buyers. When I tried to sell my TV, I was contacted about 20 times (by platform messages, direct phone calls, etc) and half of them agreed on a pick up date/time only for not showing up.
Even though I specifically mentioned that the buyer can check the product thoroughly before deciding, most buyers kept asking if it was broken or one even asked me to provide a video. That is after trying to reduce the price more than 50%.
I could buy a bicycle, and I successfully sold a book, Wiimote and a Occulus Rift (this one maybe just lucky).
WAARDERLOOS!
Beware, scammers
Beware, there are a lot of scammers on this marketplace. No counter measures are taken. If it happens to you, there is no help.
I have been scammed myself. They use profile pictures from other people, also the address is fake.
No action on fake brand items
I have reported seller Grandado for selling guitar pickups that are branded Seymour Duncan when they are clearly imitations.
The sale of fake brand items is totally illegal. Having reported the seller.over 20 times there is never any response from Marktplaats.
POOR SECURITY !!!!!
They sending me each day some emails what I don't want , contact with customer service don't give any effect and people are very rude there.
Service in terms of buyers' safety: -5 points, no verification of the buyer or seller. In general, very poor security. But you can use the service to not be cheated, I pick up the goods personally. I do not recommend shopping for perfumes, phones, designer clothes, most of them are fakes. Do not buy smartphones from such retailers, even if they claim that the device is new, this is a great place to sell infected devices. You can lose money, your privacy and have many other problems. Cyber crimes are now in fashion and easy to make.
Just got frauded out of €400 euros and…
Just got frauded out of €400 euros and all Marktplaats customer service does is wish me "a nice day" after telling me they can't do anything about it. What a load of crap. I could start a racket just posting fake products online, waiting for the money to roll in, getting my account closed, and opening a new one. That's what these people are doing, and there is zero chance to get any money back.
Helpdesk
The helpdesk are liars and facists. They refuse to help you and when you complain about that they give you a ban.
Worst market place ever!
THE market place for scammers and fraud attempts Safe your efforts and sell somewhere else. This costs you only nerves and in worst case your bank account..
- Feedback system is a joke: People can give feedback immediately as soon as 1 line of text has been exchanged via the chat system. This results in a lot of negative revenge feedback. How is that supposed to make it more save??!?
- 'Gelijk oversteken' only states you receive a package. If someone sends you a box with stones they won´t help you and you paid 2% for nothing... There are nice youtube videos about this
- From around 10 requests for a sale, on average, 3 are fraud attempts, 5 are stupid / unrealistic offers and people who don´t show up. If you give them now a bad review imagine what you will get back..
I deleted my account with them..
Before Ebay bought Marktplaats it was a…
Before Ebay bought Marktplaats it was a good company but nowadays we sellers are being treated as p00p, not to mention the endless ads on the website my god! The advertising prices also!
Now comes another problem, you guys bought tweedehands dot nl which i am not fond off, you want to create this big monopoly position, well goodluck with that, i've quit on your website. Time to go to speurders or so.
Good experience so far
I use marktplaats only for second-hand items and so far only had experience with pick-up purchases. Pretty convenient search system, especially for finding local sellers. The website is a bit confusing for an international, but since it's for mostly for Dutch people it's understandable. Overall good experience, but the amount of ads on the website bugged me the whole time.
No guaranty at all users stilling one…
No guaranty at all users stilling one another and the Marktplaats team do nothing to stop this. Newer pay anybody there by bank if you no able pick up the goods yourself do not buy this. Very difficult to contact the team is well.
Te veel fake traffic!
Te veel fake traffic!
There is no way to limit Ads for keywords/geo triggering and this leads to huge waste in media buying.
Does not treat sellers equally
Does not treat sellers equally. Some ads are deleted, they say certain supplements and vitamins are not allowed, but same time there are thousands of ads with the same products offered.
Stupid website that allows ppl who didn't buy your stuff to rate you.
This is just stupid that people who didn't buy your stuff can rate you. I posted my used headphone for sell at a price of 300 euro. The dutch guy asked for a price of 200 euro. So it's impossible to agree on his demand. And he just gave me a one star review.
Tons of people offering ridiculous pricing for your items. Another example, I try to sell my PS4 games for 15 euro (pick up by urself), someone just offered 10 euro by post (free shipping).
Best site in Netherlands!!
New Marktplaats rating system extremely bad
I am on Marktplaats from many years and I have been use to buy and sell things on it. Now this new feature on marktplaats is available to rate others which I find very weird. Few weeks ago, I had a conversation with one person who wanted to buy stuff from me and we didn't come to agreement at the end. He just gave me a very bad ranking after this. Although, he didn't buy any thing from me but he still can rate me. I think this system of rating others is just as silly as you can imagine. It should be based on actual buyers who actually buy that thing and can rate later. Similar system can go for sellers. It should not be based on just initial conversation without really buying anything.
No mechanism to get your money back in…
No mechanism to get your money back in case you get scammed. This is not a trust-worthy platform! I got scammed, even after paying through Marktplaat's ideal system. The website does not provide for any complaints to be made, instead you have to file a police report with the national authorities, which is truly burdensome and quite ineffective (they will most probably disregard your case if it is below 500eur). Definitely a bad marketplace!
