Appalling service
We booked a taxi in advance to take a group of 4 people who were in wheelchairs out for the day. The taxi was extremely late ( approx 1hr) We had advised the taxi company of the needs of those travelling prior to the booking. 1 person needed to stay in the wheelchair throughout the journey with the others were able to sit in normal chairs.
When the driver arrived there was no appology for being late. The driver was rude and in front of the people said 'they can't walk' in an abrupt manner. This was distressing to the everyone listening and also inaccurate.
They were more than capable of mobilising into a chair.
Attempts were made to explain this but the driver refused to listen and then refused to take us. We were left with no way of going out on our outing which disapointed everyone.
We contacted the main office and they agreed that there was no reason to refuse to take us.
The rudeness of the driver around vulnerable people was inexcusable. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Black cabs from airport
Took a 55 minute ride from the Manchester Airport to port sunlight on the Wirral
No meter running and it cost 150 UK Pounds
Had to pay in cash as his scanner wouldn’t work on a Canadian credit cards, tried two different cards.
Friend did a check about an hour later for the cost on Uber and it was 63 UK pounds for the same ride.
I would suggest that you avoid any and all black cabs from the airport as they are clearly massively overpriced.

All black cabs at Manchester Airport are self-employed Hackney Carriage drivers licensed directly by Manchester City Council and authorised by Manchester Airport Ltd to operate from the official airport rank. They are not employed by or connected to our company in any way.

Under Section 51 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, and Part II of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847, only the local licensing authority (Manchester City Council) has the power to regulate and investigate Hackney Carriage drivers.
We therefore respectfully request that this review be removed or amended, as it incorrectly attributes the actions of an unrelated self-employed driver to Manchester Taxi Service Ltd, which is misleading to consumers and potentially defamatory under the Defamation Act 2013, Section 1(1) (“serious harm to the reputation of a business”).

Driver got there over an hour later than expected
Waited for my taxi cab to get to the airport and pick me up for over an hour as the GPS kept showing the driver going back and forth up and down the same roads over and over again. I tried calling and the call just would not connect, so I just took losing the money in my stride and hopped onto another random taxi cab, wasting even more time on my first day of a holiday. Afterwards, the driver called me upset that he hadn't found me and hung up on me after a rude "OK bye" when I explained to him that he kept going up and down the same roads according to the app and at some point I'd decided that I could NOT wait any further (I ended up doing nothing but rushing about looking for a place still open for dinner on my very first day of holidays anyway).
Tried contacting MTS but still haven't gotten a reply (it's now been a week).
Update:
I have screenshots of the MTS app and related emails. So no, I did not book with a different company.

A total rip off wanted £40 cash for a trip from The Trafford Lodge to Travelodge Trafford Park … I told him I’d no cash he said we could stop at an ATM … told him what he could do … Uber £12 including a tip … your drivers and there were three of them touting for business cash only and meters switched off … even though you say you only accept online booking you need to put trackers on them … Black Cabs are scammers 🤬🤬🤬 your company gives Manchester a bad name, thankfully we have Uber & Bolt.
Just got your reply didn’t expect much else, after looking at your previous replies to unhappy customers, how Dare you accuse me of a false review, you don’t even have the decency to add a signature to your reply …. it’s no wonder you have such a low score on trustpilot!

Manchester Taxi Service Ltd does not operate street taxis or accept cash payments. We are a private, pre-booked only service that requires all bookings to be made and paid for online in advance. We do not have vehicles that can be flagged down from the street, and none of our drivers operate with meters or accept cash directly.
The individuals you encountered were likely independent drivers or street taxis not affiliated with any company, which is common in Manchester. If you wish to report their behaviour, we strongly advise you to contact Manchester City Council's Taxi Licensing Authority, who oversee taxi operations in the city.
As this review falsely attributes unrelated conduct to our business, we kindly ask you to remove it. If not, we will be reporting it to Trustpilot as a fake review that misrepresents our services and reputation.

Expect a long wait
Rang up for a taxi from Manchester out to Warrington after a work event, was told 15 minutes. Called after waiting 20 minutes and was told it would be another 10 minutes. Called at the end of that 10 minutes and was told it would still be a bit longer. At this point I had missed my last chance to get a train, total time stood waiting in the cold was over an hour - if they'd told me that when I'd first rung I'd have walked across town and got the train instead. The driver they sent has saved them from a 1 star by being friendly and expertly navigating the roads to get me home safely and quickly.
Edit: on request for more information - the taxi was originally booked online from my phone, I had to ring from my wife's phone as mine failed while we waited.

I have since spoken to manager of the company who has been extremely helpful and apologized and dealt with this horrible driver, thank you Karim.
Taxi driver drove off just as bride was about to step into the cab, we ordered two cabs and one driver drove off just as we got to the cab we were running a little late but would happily of paid any extra due thankfully the other stayed so we could get the bride to the venue.

Pre-booked price excessive. £10 a mile in daytime
Taxi turned up 20 minutes early, but fortunately we were ready. Driver was friendly and chatty. The real problem was that I pre-booked and was charged £30 to make a 3 mile journey. As I was travelling with an 85 year old I needed to make sure everything was pre-arranged, but this is excessive.

Our booking showed up as confirmed and…
Our booking showed up as confirmed and we were given an order number, however, after waiting for 30 mins for the taxi, we had to call the taxi company to find out what was happening. We were then told our taxi service had been cancelled without any notification or anyone from the company giving us a courtesy call to let us know what is going on. We missed our stadium tour and therefore lost $200 pounds.
