Hopeless and customer unfriendly Bank of Maharashtra

I opened a premium account in Aug '25 with the Andheri E, Mumbai branch. The bank does not even call after account opening. Passbooks, chequebooks, and debit cards are not sent to customers. To date, a debit card has not been issued to me in spite of multiple reminders. The customer care number does not get through. At last, I visited the branch last week and was provided a passbook on 12 Dec. No chequebook or debit card was provided. I was given an ordinary instant debit card, which did not work in the ATM. Now the bank will manufacture a debit card for me after six months of account opening. Hopeless branch. The branch manager does not want to speak with the customer. I have written multiple mails to their HO email ID. Being a govt. bank, no one bothered to respond. I received a call from the bank in the 4th week of Dec '26 that at last my debit card is ready and I should collect it from the bank. When I wanted to speak with the branch manager, I was not allowed. I requested that my debit card be sent to my registered address, to which the bank replied, 'If you want a debit card, come and collect it, or it'll remain with the bank.' Such a rude answer.' I could finally meet the branch manager on 3rd Jan '26 and narrated my experience. He was not interested in taking any corrective action or asking the card-issuing bank clerk about their rude behaviour. I had also escalated the matter to higher-ups earlier through email IDs provided by the bank, which included an email to HO. No response received from anyone. I closed my account on the 3rd of Jan '26 by paying a penalty of Rs3500, being the penalty for closing my high-value FDs as well as the SB account within 6 months.
Recommend the general public not to open an account with such a hopeless bank like the Bank of Maharashtra and waste their time. Instead, choose some other bank. Third-rate banking experience.
