Poor toilet facilities

Uncomfortable experience-
60 ladies waiting for the toilet, long queues for all toilets.
Also unbearably hot.
No consideration given to the customer.
Also very poor WiFi.
Couldn’t get out quick enough.
Not enough toilets available, not enough restaurant seating and seem to be missing a thermostat.

To the Management of the Louvre…

To the Management of the Louvre Customer Service Team,

I am writing to you with immense frustration and deep disappointment regarding the completely unacceptable treatment my group and I received at the Louvre on March 22nd, around 13:30h. What was supposed to be a memorable cultural experience was entirely ruined by your incompetent systems and shockingly rude staff.

Despite having perfectly valid tickets, we were aggressively denied entry. The reason? All of our tickets were saved on a single mobile phone. Your staff demanded that we distribute the tickets to every single person's device before we could enter.

This absurd demand was made impossible by the fact that mobile data connection in that area is practically nonexistent, and the free Wi-Fi provided by the Louvre is absolutely awful. We were literally trapped—unable to download or send the tickets, and completely unsupported by your team.

Instead of helping us, the staff members were dismissive, uncommunicative, and incredibly disrespectful. They continuously repeated that it was "not their problem" and simply waved us away from the queue as if we were a nuisance. When I explicitly stated that I would be filing a formal complaint and asked the desk attendant for her name, she outright refused to provide it. However, I believe her name was Anne, and I was informed the manager on duty was Valerie Benot. A management team that allows this kind of hostile environment should be ashamed.

To make matters worse, this was not our only issue with your ticketing system. One of our purchases did not even have the tickets attached to the confirmation email. I was forced to wait in a completely separate queue for 30 minutes, practically begging for the tickets I had already paid for.

Time at a museum as vast as the Louvre is incredibly precious, and we had no intention of wasting ours dealing with incompetent managing staff, broken ticketing systems, and outright rudeness.

I demand a thorough explanation as to why this arbitrary and impossible ticket distribution rule was enforced when your own internet infrastructure cannot support it. Furthermore, I expect to hear exactly how you plan to compensate us for the severe distress, wasted time, and the extremely bad experience we were subjected to.

I look forward to your prompt response and a satisfactory resolution to this miserable experience.

Just out of principal

Just out of principal asked if I wasn’t a European citizen, so would have to pay 11 Euro more, so didn’t bother would’ve paid 22 euro but not 33 not when at there’s so many other museums around 12-14 euro that are amazing!

Bought tickets for 12 pm

Bought tickets for 12 pm. At 11:30 am, people with 10 am tickets still weren't inside. My mother sat down because she had foot problems, but was told that was her problem and she had to stand up. Children were allowed to eat but had to stay seated. Expect a minimum 2-hour wait; it's best to arrive 5 hours early to ensure you're inside on time.

Shocking experience

Trying to book online to take our grandson, shocking experience, site kept resetting, losing information, with all the issues i ended up booking the wrong date, the website had an option to Make enquiries with categories like amend booking dates, refunds and others, we asked to change the booking, they flatly refused, no refund no amendment no support, every time we contact them they just say no, awful experience, sad to say we won't be visiting the Louvre so our grandson won't get to see everything as I'm not paying twice

Unhelpful staff, closed exhibits, over priced, over charged

Awful, unkind staff who ruined the day for me. I booked online but still had to queue for over an hour. When I finally got inside my ticket was rejected - staff couldn't explain why and wouldn't honour the money I had already paid or let me get a refund or tell me who to pay. Ended up paying twice. Scam artists. Staff were unhelpful, rude and insulting.

Food is overpriced and no proper seats for eating. Awful for somewhere that already charges 32 euros fir entry.

Not enough toilets for the amount of visitors and half were out of use. God knows where all the money goes because it's not on the facilities.

We spent ages looking for one exhibit only to find that whole floor was not open. No that this noted on the floor plans anywhere nor where we told this anywhere.

Floor plans and layout very poor. Real struggle to find what we wanted.

Art and exhibits were good but staff and facilities were awful. And exhibit was completely over charged.

Will never go there again!!!!

We (me and my grandmother) couldn't…

We (me and my grandmother) couldn't even get in with tickets purchased from the Louvre website. The staff was incredibly rude and impolite to a point I had never seen in Paris thus far. The website is confusing, the opening hours (due to the strike) are confusing, and there is a huge lack of communication in general. The tone they used with me whenever I was simply trying to understand what had gone wrong was condescending and rude. Unless you are ready to face confusing methods of purchasing tickets and rude staff confrontation, I would just avoid this tourist spot and go to one of the many other art museums in Paris.

Museum gets a zero but rated 2 because art is amazing

Two stars because the art is amazing. The museum experience was terrible. Hot, overcrowded, noisy, lines everywhere, information desks just sent you to another information desk to another information desk. No maps or directions. Mona Lisa presentation was pathetic …no lines, just who could elbow to the front of the crowd to take the most selfies. We took a guided tour presented by the museum. The 90 min tour was less than 60 min. The earphones had no volume control and so much static most of the talks were lost. Total waste.

Chaotic crowed and sweaty

As an art historian i want to give my honest opinion: Terrible experience!! Of course rhe art is amazing and i would give that an 11 star on itself. But the Louvre is extremely busy and hot. It feels like walking on a festival, you can't walk freely, it is extremely crowded.. There is no airconditioning and almost no toilets only at the entrance, and even the amount of toilets was way to little for the amount of visitors, also no running water and no soap dispenser that worked.
You are in lines from the entrance until you leave; lines to enter, lines to scan the tickets, lines for the toilets lines for every important art object, lines to ask for imformation etc etc .
The Louvre has billions of money but no decent toilets : they should let less visitors come in to make the experience better and also build more toilets and more staff to help people find there way. Which leads my to my last point;
There are almost no maps to be found in situ which is extremley important for such a big museum. Maps are rarely to be found during your walk in the museum, only on certain points, which makes jt hard to get to the other wings and levels.
My initial plan was to stay for a whole day so i could see enough but i left after 2,5 hours, and i was exhausted

The worst museum. Do not visit

The worst museum to visit. Very rude staff, especially the queuing and cleaning staff, they misused their right to block or interupted your visiting like demanding you to get in a longer line, block to get in toilet if they wanted to clean up out of the sudde , etc. Waiting line was insane. Although we, including my old 70 y.o parents got the tickets booked in advance, we must wait for almost an hour under a heavy rain in a super long queue to get in. All the checking there were done manually by staff who did eye check one by onr ticket, or shouted to order people in line, literally like in the old time. The toilets are terrible, toilet sinks were stuck and built up, no ventilation, huge queue to get in wc, urine smell is litterally everywhere . The building isnt built to support people on wheel chair. Although they gave a wheelchair to my mom, many elevators didnt work or ubder maintenance. The elevators that worked could only move up or down, not both. It means we must walked like hours to get through the crowd, searching for one by one elevator yat could work. We ended up letting my poor old mom walked for 3 floors with her knee problem in a painful way while my dad must carry wheelchair by hand because none of elevator could work to the exit gate. When we wanted to file a complaint due to huge dissapointment, they said nothing could be done by them until we posted a complaint on their system . Then they can see how to react. In the end, it hurted me so much seeing how my old parents suffered in Louvre this way. I would never come back again. Such a shame to see how much they earned vs how much they should have invested to improve their facility or staff training. The worst!

Unacceptable Customer Service and Arbitrary Email Blocking

My email address was arbitrarily blocked by the Musée du Louvre’s ticketing system without any prior notice or valid reason. When I asked for help, a staff member named Jean responded with a dismissive and rude tone. He told me to “accept the facts” and insisted I must create a new email address to purchase tickets, refusing to offer any alternative solution. This treatment is unacceptable from a public institution and shows a clear lack of respect for customers and consumer rights.

I was extremely disappointed

I was extremely disappointed. This museum is not what it's cracked up to be. The Mona Lisa should have scheduled viewings, as it's overbooked and crowded. You can't get a great shot of the painting in those kinds of crowds. The Greek section is very small, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British Museum have much better Greek and Egyptian sections. Overall, the Louvre is more hype than substance.

Selfish museum workers go on strike leaving 1000’s stranded outside

We arrived for a 9.30am time slot entry to find massive queues outside the pyramid entrance and also down at the Carrousel entrance. We were told museum staff were on strike inside and there maybe an hour delay or maybe no entry at all today. How dare these workers use tourists and involve them in their wages/conditions grievances just to make a point and get leverage. Many in the queues had booked today’s date and time slots months in advance. Shame on you workers. They eventually opened the doors 1.5 hours later. We’d left by then not knowing if they were going to open at all. The government needs to take control of this so their biggest industry in Paris us the tourists are treated better at one of their biggest tourist attractions.

Pre-booked tickets but very long wait …

Pre-booked tickets but still ridiculous wait to get in for a 10.30am slot.
Place was heaving busy and hot. Hard to get around.
Lots of paintings were not there, most of the French paintings were missing with just empty frames on the walls!
African Art exhibition was closed too.
Overall very disappointed. I thought an early May visit would be ok but it was hectic!

Disgusting behaviour

Disgraceful customer service. Paid direct for 2 tickets. We were caught up in the recent Heathrow complete closure and we could not fly. Messages the Louvre immediately explaining could we have a voucher for our rescheduled flight to Paris and they refused. Despite KNOWING the airport closure was not our fault and no one would be flying to Paris that day! They won’t miss 2 people in their museum I’m sure but we will never visit again. It would have cost the museum NOTHING to have transferred our ticket to a couple of days later. Disgusted with them and completely let down
