We booked a short family holiday at the Castle hotel and were utterly disappointed.
- We were unable to book any swimming slots as all the slots were taken
- Breakfast at the Tournament Tavern restaurant (supposedly the premium restaurant for Castle hotel guests) was unavailable, hence we had to book breakfast in the lower-end restaurant across the bridge. Legoland offered no apologies or compensation for this
- The hotel rooms were generally clean but felt old and worn out
- The legoland park was like a wild jungle, it was crowded as hell and some of the rides had over a 1-hour long waiting time in the queue
- Food in the park is a massive problem, extremely expensive and unhealthy especially for children
Only positive: tap drinking water is free at the park HAHA

Would go again but the customer service could have been better
I booked a holiday online and didn't receive any confirmation. To contact the company by telephone you have to pay 13p per minute and get put through to a machine (how they justify this is beyond me!) so I emailed them. It is now over a week later and I still haven't got this sorted out as I have had one response asking for some details, which I responded to immediately, and nothing since.
The holiday is for peak school holiday time and my children are looking forward to it. If this doesn't get sorted out soon they are going to miss their holiday!
Our 6 year old daughter and we were quite excited about our trip to Legoland. We were also travelling with our 2 month old infant son. But the holiday turned out to be not so nice. There were several reasons for that.
Firstly, it was surprising that the elevator which leads to the entrance to Legoland was not functioning. It is acceptable that mechanical devices like this can malfunction but not taking any effort to fix it is unacceptable. So we were told that it won’t be fixed anytime soon. It is extremely inconvenient and unsafe to manage your infant on a stroller when the elevator is not working. So every time we had to go the park, we had to lift our infant and then hand carry the heavy stroller down the stairs and same on way back. It was not safe at all and very painful. I paid a premium to stay in your hotel to allow easy access to the park, but all in vain. I could have stayed elsewhere at a much lower price and drove to the park.
The weekend of 4-5th July 2015 was very warm (as high as 35 deg, unusually warm for Denmark) and few hours at park left us very drained out. After a tiring day, we went to the buffet restaurant to have dinner and we were turned down as we didn’t reserve a table. That really put me off. There is no information available at the website; nothing informed when I booked online and no information at the time of check in. How on earth do we pre-empt that we have to reserve a table for dinner in the hotel where we are staying? This is a family hotel for entertainment with kids and not a five star business hotel. So we were turned down and had no choice but grab a pizza down the street.
It is understandable that hotels in Denmark are not equipped with air conditioning as such high temperatures don’t last for long. The room we were staying in became very stuffy, so we opened the windows to get fresh air, but that didn’t help. We saw table fans at the reception at time of check in. So we thought lets ask for fan at the reception else we won’t be able to sleep at night. The first answer at the reception was ‘No’. It took quite some explanation to go through to convince the reception staff before they checked with housekeeping. Finally we managed to get a fan.
Overall the stay was far from comfortable. We had a very bad experience and the staff behavior could be better in terms of appreciating the needs of a family travelling with infant.
I won’t be back and will recommend friends and family the same.
