Great service by knowledgeable staff. I was looking for a bridge camera, which was available in store, but other potential options were discussed with the various advantages and disadvantages. I purchased the Panasonic Lumix, confident in the outcome of discussions. I’ve purchased cameras from here in the past and can highly recommend this shop

I've spent thousands with LCE over the years from M4/3 to full frame kit, 6Ds mk1 &2, numerous lenses. Even brought a lens online from them three weeks ago, an EF16-35mm L mkii lens.
I told them this when I walked into their Plymouth store to sell a rarely used Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L. The assistant spent ten minutes fondling it. Inspected every millimetre. It was in good nick.
Then I got hit with a long script about how they don't buy lens of a certain age because it's too much trouble to get them repaired so he could only offer to take it as a part exchange deal.
So he knew that before I handed it over yet still thought it was good idea to poke it around for ten minutes while I stood there, before he told me.
The Canon 17-40 is a common, well respected, L class lens, parts are everywhere, it's easy to repair, of course an authorised Canon repair centre would repair it. I wasn't asking for or expecting much, anyway, — it's an affordable lens that mostly wouldn't warrant the cost of an expensive repair — but I didn't even get an offer.
Thing is they DO take the lens because he offered part exchange so he was obviously trying to make a sale instead of an offer.

Took it to CEX. Done without the nonsensical ramble. In fact I even decided to use their voucher towards making another online purchase with them for a camera...without being coerced into it.

LCE just lost an old customer.

I can use MPB, Wex, CEX, Park, and ebay, no loss to me.

The reply below is completely inaccurate, no alternative deal whatsoever was offered at any stage, just one offer to take it in a part exchange transaction.

Called the store to check on condition etc and they were very helpful. Lens condition is better than described in my opinion and at a very attractive price compared to other outlets. Arrived on time and very well packaged. Using it and really enjoying purchase.

Extremely quick response upon enquiring about a secondhand camera and once ordered, it was dispatched within the hour and arrived the next day.

I wanted a decent digital SLR camera to take on holiday next year. Wasn’t prepared to pay thousands for these new mirrorless camera, so took a punt and bought (after extensive research) a Nikon D5100. Camera arrived a few days later in a box about 20 x the size of the camera, excellent packaging, delivery. Camera received as per description, but in a lot better condition than what I was expecting. I purchased a camera online on 10th November from the Plymouth branch. I received two emails confirming the transaction. Then I later received a third, which I initially assumed was just the confirmation of it being dispatched which is normal (since I have purchased a great deal from LCE over the years) only to be told that the camera had been sold to someone else in store. The camera had only just been put up and was second on the timeline. Generally I have been very satisfied with my transactions with LCE which is my go to dealer, but if you are asking about my experience this time, I am afraid it is not good.
