SCAMMER ALERT!!!

SCAMMER ALERT!!!

Do NOT use this company. They will NOT tell you the full cost of their service, will do a half axx job and disappear on you if you need any follow up.

My rather old boiler broke in one of the coldest day in Nov 2025. As I was in the process of selling my flat, I didn't want to spend too much money on a new boiler and decided to repair it instead.

As it was a very cold day, and the boiler engineer was understandably busy, I waited for more than a day before they would turn up and fix my boiler. So not exactly what you would expect for an emergency plumbing help.

When the plumber did turn up (A guy by the name Warren), he was VERY charming and offered to fix my boiler. He gave me an estimate of around £700 to get it fixed. Fair enough. It sounded reasonable.

But that he didn't tell me was, the £700 only covers his time (which add up to £777 for 3 hours of work). There is £49 call out fees (Which you would have to pay just for them to turn up).

There is also a material cost of £535 which Warren did not tell me about.

To make it worst, they charge a 15% admin fees on top of everything they charge (Labour, material and the call out fees. The admin fees alone ended up being £204.15 for my bill.

My total bill came up to £1,565.15. This was more than DOUBLE the amount he quoted me.

Worse, he did not tell me about these fees before he started work. I was under the impression that I could get my boiler fixed with around £700 to £800 when he was fixing it. Can you imagine the shock I was in when Warren finished his job and sent me an invoice of £1,565.15?

Fine. They got the job done. OR SO I THOUGHT!

Within a month, the boiler BROKE AGAIN!!!!!

This time round, I was so scared of calling them that I called another plumber and get a new boiler installed instead. And guess how much did the new boiler cost me? £2,274. If I had known it's only £700 more to get a BRAND NEW boiler, I would have done that instead of getting Last Minute Plumbing to pretend to fix the problem.

Naturally, I went back to Last Minute Plumbing to complain about the problem and ask for partial refund. They did not reply my email despite chasing them multiple times. Eventually, I found out why they don't bother to reply a complain email >>> Because there is ALMOST NO WAY for you to complain, let alone getting compensation for poor plumbing job done in the UK. Gas Safe Registry won't be able to help, Utilities ADR has a 1 start review as well.

So plumbers in the UK can get away with scamming your money and there is no recourse on your end.

Best to read TrustPilot and avoid bad plumbers in the first place.

The morale of the story: DO NOT USE LAST MINUTE PLUMBING!!!! THEY WILL OVERCHARGE and FAIL TO DO THEIR JOB.

This company is a cowboy firm

This company is a cowboy firm. The guy came first thing, worked 7 hours 3 minutes so they charged us 8 hours - coming to 2750 GBP and the problem wasn't fixed. When we asked them to check their work they said it would be another call out fee and hourly charge. Please do not use this company!

Scammers!

The plumber arrived within 25 minutes in the middle of the night and stopped the leak. No issues here.
Their business practices are unethical and fraudulent. I asked how much the job would cost, I was told £69 for the call out and then the plumber will let me know because he needs to see the leak. This is a lie. They charge £459 per hour regardless. They send you a bill via email before the plumber starts working, and they want you to accept in writing. They know how much they will charge you when you call them, they won't tell you otherwise you won't proceed.
Also, they attempted to add 20% VAT on top when the bill I agreed to said it included VAT. I told the lady on the phone I wouldn't pay an additional £135, she got annoyed, said she'd speak to the admin office (at midnight!) and let me know. I received the correct bill within 10 seconds.

They don't even deserve Even 1 star…

They don't even deserve Even 1 star rating . Had a leak and called them and let us sign their contract. 7 hours and 5 mins later- equivalent to 8 hour work. They fixed a leak that is not even the problem. Bought two parts that took him an hour to buy. Took a video of befofe and after, but the after didn't even turn on the normal water pressure so after turning on the water for the radiator, actual leak/issue had emerged and apparently it's a new problem. Totally completely a rip off paid almost £3k. ! DONT EVER HIRE this company. I am complaining this to take out the license .

They claim to be check a trade approved…it’s a lie and they are thiefs

They claim to be check a trade approved and it’s a lie, 2 hours work and still no working toilet and the bill was £1228, when we complained about the extra costs they threatened us with the bailiffs, absolute charlatans and thief’s. As soon as the plumber is through the door they send through reems of paperwork telling you he is already on the clock at £259 per hour or part of, so with the call out fee you are already £320 down, ask them to try and fix to get your moneys worth, 2.5 hrs later nothing is fixed and you get a bill for £1228 and get threatened with court action. Please don’t fall into the same trap I did, do not ever ever use them, they should be in prison. They are not on check a trade as I discovered afterwards, but when you have a leak you panic, well I did and have paid a very heavy price

Long wait, extortionate, and very rude customer service

woman, name beginning with J, spoke on the phone and initially said that it would take 40 minutes for someone to attend to our emergency water leakage (bare in mind that I searched for the closest provider near to my location)… we waited over an hour for their arrival and chased the service up, only to be spoken to in the rudest way that apparently she said it would take an hour and a half and she has the first call recorded as proof, which is of no use if she never presented it to me. Then I waited for another while with no choice. I ended up getting a call back from another service which said they can come much sooner than my waited time, so I tried to call the service to cancel their service because the wait was far too long beyond 40minutes as a nearby business - the woman began to raise her voice, scream and threaten me about the call-out fee being demanded although I waited a ridiculous time during an emergency, and threatened to send their invoice to debt controllers, and she has all my information which I challenged because I gave no further details besides the phone number I called on and my address. The phone call and ridiculous wait added more concerns and anticipation during our emergency. The call began to sound as though the lady was one of those aggressive scam/fraud callers.

When the man arrived, very late, staff informed me that he smelt like beer. And the quote after the work was done was extortionately high per hour, for a job very poorly done and long anticipated for.

The ratings and reviews provided before my own are proven correct, and my only advice to future customers is to check Trust Pilot even during urgent situations before deciding to use this service.

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

I had such an awful awful experience with this company, it's taken me a couple of months to even bring myself to write a review. Completely unethical service. Overcharged for the tiniest of jobs. The invoice was not transparent and when I tried to ask about details of the costs over the phone i.e. materials used, I was completely gaslit and not told the information. Lies were told by the worker about which materials were used and which shop he went to in order to get materials. He stayed way longer than necessary, just to run up the hours to be billed. Intimidation is used by the worker who remains in or around your home until the huge payment is made. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Immoral cowboys!

These are very immoral cowboys who are ripping off hardworking families during the cost of living crisis.

The engineer deliberately wasted time to push the time over an hour so he could charge for two hours work (despite verbally agreeing that he wouldn't). The office were unknowledgeable about who to direct complaints to and who their industry regulator was, as well as lacking customer service skills.

All in all an unnecessarily unpleasant experience which added more stress to our plumbing issues. Avoid this intentionally unethical company.

A scam

I had an almost identical experience to others.
Called as my boiler had stopped working.
Engineer arrived with no equipment or uniform.
Proceeded to 'correct the issue' - he did not.
I was then charged £370 but felt intimidated (the engineer was still in my flat and being argumentative)and unable not to pay despite the fact that I still had no heating.
My banking app made clear that the payment had gone through.
I was then called by 'the office' to tell me that the payment had not cleared and I would need to pay again to a different account
By this point the engineer had left so I refused. They have contacted me again asking for further payment.
The plumber who attended the following day and actually fixed the issue was convinced this was a scam (apparently common at this time of year)
I have reported to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Bureau

Don't use

Called on Christmas Day due to blocked toilet. Told £99 call out charge on the phone then, like others experienced, was sent terms when agent arrived which showed £395 per hour (or part of hour) plus admin fee, plus VAT (though I cannot find a VAT number). There was a small leak before agent arrived which was being dealt with by someone else in a few days. Local plumber arrived to deal with the leak (which was very much worse after the "unblocking") and asked me if I knew my toilet was blocked. A £700 bill on Christmas Day and the toilet hadn't even been unblocked!

I have emailed the company to ask for a refund and will update this review, in fairness, if I receive a satisfactory response. They have a chance to put this right.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. When I called I was asked if I was OK with a £75 additional call out fee (it was Boxing Day) and I said fine. I waited 3 hours for the engineer to arrive and only when he arrived was I sent an email from the company stating rate of £350 per hour! Clearly if this had been stated in advance, I would have said no thanks and gone with another company. It was evening by then and I felt I had no option but to accept as I had no central heating. The engineer did the job, which took under an hour, and the company then emailed me a bill for £620 as they had added an "admin fee" of nearly £100 and added VAT on top of total figure. Absolutely outrageous to exploit people in this way and to leave someone waiting 3 hours before telling them the hourly rate. I am going to report them to the financial ombudsman.

Not cheap but saved the day!

This being an emergency service it is going to cost more. It is Sunday and my boiler decided to stop working tried the DIY fix with what I knew but nothing worked. Called up these guys, engineer was there within 1hr 15 mins. Diagnosed the issue, was open about everything he was doing and talked me through it. Boiler came back to life, and he fixed the leak that was causing it to have zero pressure. Was it expensive? Yes but it was far cheaper than a new boiler and other companies could only come out in 3 to 4 days time. The engineer was polite, knowledgeable and friendly and he totally saved the day. Thank you 😊

Do not use this company!

Do not use this company!
It is a total scam
They are not transparent with the call out charge
The initial £60 is just for the plumber to come through your front door.
Then you have to agree via email that you will then accept the cost for an assessment so without even having any work done the callout charge and the cost of the assessment including that is the best part of £400!!!
I will be looking into how to launch a complaint about this company and reporting them however I can

Predatory

The "engineer" arrived and proceeded to:

- prod at the boiler
- turn it on and off repeatedly
- express surprise and/or confusion about the pipes

Within 5 minutes, he made clear that he would not be able to fix it. He spent a further 15 minutes attempting to insert allen keys and screwdrivers into the hole and raise the temperature, to no avail.

On the phone, we were informed that there would be a £69 callout fee and that the engineer would quote once they'd seen the issue.

In actuality, the engineer arrived and required me to email consent to an extortionate fixed hourly fee - while someone is in my house, talking about how far/long they'd had to travel to get to us. This occurred *before* the boiler had been investigated.

This fee was evidently a pre-set amount and not based upon any actual assessment of the issue; it is a number that would have been known and quotable over the phone, and then issued in a predatory manner when the desperate customer is least able to assess the fairness of what is going on.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. I called them and spoke to a lady who said that they could send an engineer in an hour and they would charge £49 plus any parts. 4 hours later the engineer appeared and they sent me an email stating that they would charge £49 PLUS an hourly rate of £289 plus parts. Dishonest and useless.

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs. They will refuse to tell you the cost over the phone when you call because it’s far more expensive than other plumbing companies. We were charged a £49 call out fee and the £299 for an hour, as they “don’t charge for half an hour”. If we had known this in advance we would not have proceeded, which is why they won’t tell you the cost up-front.
