Clueless
Is this airline a budget airline or a fully fledged carrier?
Don’t ask them as they won’t know.
If you buy your ticket for the flight through a third-party and then try and buy extra luggage you’ll find that this is impossible to do and you have to spend about 40 minutes in a queue waiting to speak to an operator who in turn tries to charge you an additional charge for not using an online facility!!
The website is short of useless, plagued with functional problems
The seats onboard the aircraft are in a poor state and the food offering dire.
We were flying in business and you’d have thought something edible would have been possible… clearly not
The cabin crew clearly had long forgotten about how to serve the public and require a major refresher course … they had no idea how to work as a team … short of useless
The only plus point I can say about the whole flight experience was on the ground at Heathrow where business class passengers are given access to the excellent Gulf lounge at terminal 4
I imagine the biggest asset this company possesses is the landing rights they have at Heathrow.
With the service level, on the ground and in the air, we experienced, very much doubt if they will be in business in another six months which actually would be a blessing
Exceptional service.
Exceptional service.
The flight crew were very pleasant and professional.
Would always recommend KM.

DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE
I had booked 3 seats to Malta and when checking in for my return flight I was advised one passenger not on booking (me) despite having all confirmation and documents and the previous day having paid for my luggage whereby payment accepted.
Totally unprofessional airline with incompetent staff. I had to arrange my own return with BA at a cost of €420- pending legal action.
I only wish I had checked the reviews before booking.
The worst experience ever - SCAM
The worst experience ever: they basically scam their customers. When you buy the tickets it’s not stated clearly that you HAVE to check in the 10kg luggage and are not allowed to take it into the cabin. But it gets even more ridiculous, you are not aware of it as flying from Munich we took our 10kg luggage into the cabin and everything was fine (I assume there is some legal rules which don’t allow Air Malta to scam the passengers right away), so on the way back from Malta everything looks great until the boarding starts and there is an employee with a pay machine at the gate telling you that your ticket class doesn’t allow you to take the luggage with you and until you pay 25€ you won’t board, and after you paid you are still not allowed to take the luggage into the cabin. It’s called Economy VALUE- should be renamed into Economy SCAM. And if you booked Business VALUE - you‘ll be admitted to the business lounge in Munich as usual but in Malta, you won’t because you are flying Business VALUE (SCAM) class. Shame on you KM Airlines, I am sure through this practice, you‘ll make more loss then profit.
Basically thieves
We left for Malta from Brussels on 25/08/2024, our flight was booked with 2x 10kg Checked baggage + specified seats. For a total of 542,88 euros. In brussels we passed check-in with our checked luggage a small backpack and a small trolley within the size they give on the website: 40x34x18. No problems in Brussels to board. On the day of our return, suddenly with the exact same luggage setup they tell us we can't board with the trolley because it's not booked for. ??? Then why did they let us leave in Brussels without issue. At the check-in they send us to the customer service desk where 2 other groups of people were already arguing about luggage issues as well. We were charged 40 euros for a small trolley that weighed about 5kg containing my camera gear and some souvenirs. I received a confirmation e-mail that stated I paid 40 euros for 15kg of cabin hand luggage. This is simply grand theft. We were already advised beforehand that a lot of airlines have strict rules about luggage so we made sure beforehand to comply to said rules. But in the end it seems you get ripped off anyway.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Worst company. I requested a small cup of water they told me i needed to pay. They made me pay a luggage that wasnt necessary to pay in previews company ( air malta )
The Worst Airline Company of All Times
It is the worst airline I have ever flown with. Terrible in-flight service, grumpy staff, no comfort in the seat, and on top of that, they completely broke my checked baggage, leaving it without wheels. The company is incapable of acknowledging its mistake and providing a refund for a broken product. If you want advice, never fly with KM Malta Airlines.
Beware of luggage allowance changes
We just found out on the way back from Malta that we have to pay for extra 10kg luggage, even though this wos the exact sam luggage we left UK with at no extra charge.
Be warned their incompetent management will not be able to help you and you will be held hostage at the airport until you pay... Horrible experience with the check in clerk and the management, we bought the tickets back in February and received no info of this change which apparently took place in March 2024.
Great experience from start to finish
I was sceptical to fly with KM Malta after seeing so many negative reviews, but I honestly cannot fault the service. Check-in was very quick, The staff were polite And the flight left at the designated time. Planes had charging ports which most short haul flights do not have. l Just make sure you read the baggage details correctly for your flight as it often states that you have to check in your hand luggage sized pull trolley, although most airlines allow you to bring this on board. I would definitely travel with them again. I flew from Malta to London Gatwick.
Shocking Customer Service
Shocking check in experience flying from Madrid to Malta. The Madrid staff could only speak Spanish (no Maltese or English) and all announcements were in Spanish. We paid a premium for priority luggage and it came out last when we arrived in Malta. I will never fly with them again. I can only see this airline failing like its predecessor, Malta Airlines.
Im still waiting...Just sort my complaint... please!!
I made a complaint directly as per KM MALTA AIRLINES contact us page as instructed on my return from holiday 13.06.24. They responded by EM stating they will get back to me. NOT HEARD BACK so, I have chased a few times and same ad P&O... radio silent. Disgusting 🫣. You lost 1piece of my walking crutched. I'd not long had my hip operation so seriously, definitely needed these to get around. You messed up at Heathrow airport after the sticks were grabbed by the assistance guy. The desk clerk too busy to listen to me tagged separately. The excess baggage guy tipped his phone on the belt then tried to save with me trying to stop my sticks going through. By the time he was back on his feet the crutches were gone... 1 left... 1 right. I told the assistance guy that I would get 1 or neither!! He assured me they'd be fine.
Errr! No....I got 1 at Malta so had to do my cruise with my 1 stick.
You guys don't have the decently to respond to my concerns and make a point of advising your customers to NOT open a second contact sheet if 1 has been completed. So I ask... why do you not deal with the initial issue.??
You know youvdo not UK based (I think) so please deal with my now complaint electronically as calling you could get extremely expensive.
KM101 on 06.06.24 email
KM AIRLINES totally unorganised …
A very unorganised organisation based in malta worked by foreigners not understanding anything or hardly can speak English!!! Just an unfair situation making you lose your flight due to lack of stuff and people not knowing what's going on...Enormous queues, loads of people to check in and desks are opened to all DESTINATIONS obviously not knowing if you are in time but making you lose the flight!!! Or an Asian lady speaking uncleared English about last call but never heard our destination be mentioned 🙄
Rude, Racist and unprofessional
Do NOT use this airline! Air hostess MIRIAM was disgustingly rude, screamed at us for not being in our designated seats when there were British 'white' people behind us that were also not in their correct seats. It was definitely targeted at us due to our names. When i told her she was unprofessional she had the audacity to say 'lesson learnt'. I complained via email and they only backed her up.
In fact, most of the crew is rude and most of the airport staff seemed racist.
Very unpleasant airline.
Very unpleasant airline.
Paid for checked baggage, and upon arrival at the airport, KM Malta says that it cannot go with us without payment (when already paid for).
Never again.
Scam airline. Do not trust
Never choose this airline. My luggage was traveling on priority but somehow they managed to lose it. For the first week I did my best to call them but all they could do is tell me to make claims or try emailing this Italian email address which eventually after a day got back to me telling me to either call the airline (the number I kept calling in the first place. Meaning they sent me on an infinite loop of shifting responsibility) or the airport and stated “they don’t handle this”. The airport then told me again that it is in KM Malta’s hands. Ever since it has changed from air Malta to KM Malta it has been a scam airline. The same thing happened to a friend of mine a month ago. Do not trust KM Malta. Rather fly on Jet2, Ryanair or the traditional airline of the country you are flying to, unless you want to lose your luggage for good and be sent on a wild goose chase by incompetent staff.
Unbelievably awful, rude, whatever negative you can imagine ...
We decided to make a short trip to malta during the weekend.
The first flight from Rome at 9.05am, was operated by ITA airways, with completely wrong indications for the flight number and or the check in status. We tried to make check in online the day before and we were denied by the system. We went to ITA check in counter at 7.30am and after long waiting to find our booking, cause flight numbers were not matching, we were put in stand by list cause the flight was overbooked.
Then we went also to KM check in counters, that we found close to ITA stand by counters, and they couldn't tell us anything like we didn't even book with them, but all the responsibility would have been on ITA.
Obviously we lost our flight and we spent 5 hours at the airport entrance, waiting to know if there could be seats for the next flight at 17.00.
Finally at 14.00 we got our ticket for the flight at 17.00, after 5 hours completely abandoned by everyone, while KM stating it was ITA's fault and vice-versa. We got offered only 1 croissant and 1 cappuccino each to stay there 6 hours without receiving any answers from anyone.
Then, cherry on top, the 17.00 flight was delayed another 2 hours....
So after leaving our home at 7am we reached finally our hotel at 21.30, after more than 12 hours. We could have gone to Los angeles, almost, with the same amount of time.
But it's not finished.
For the flight back from Malta to Rome, we did the check in asap to not risk having other issues, and we arrived at the airport like 3 hours in advance, which we spent in the business lounge, chilling.
Then once they called the boarding, we went to the gate, and surprise, we found a lady with pos machine in her hands "waiting" (like a sniper) for us and for anyone else who didn't checked the 10kg hand luggage, that we already paid, but it was not intended for cabin, but to be checked only.
Now we had plenty of time in the airport, and we are frequent flyers during the year for business.
If we knew it, we would have checked our luggage at the check in counter , don't you think ?
But we didn't, and like us many others, and the lady is waiting with POS in her hands to charge extra fees ...
Why ? Because the conditions are reported but not clearly stated.
Because the luggage policy it's a scam !
KM malta airlines it's a scam itself. They are operating 50+ flights a day with 6 planes only. Most of their flights are code-shared, operated by other companies, and if something wrong happens, it's not their business. But i pay them, not others !!!
Air Malta used to be the maltese flagship company with reasonable services.
KM malta airlines has started to run the business like other low fares company without the 20 years of experience of Ryanair for example, or other companies, so it's definitely the worse of the worst.
And then a few words on the ground assistants. The ladies ok, they were not pleasant, but they were at least kind, and btw they were doing their job, even if the management is pursuing a scam.
But at a certain point, it comes a guy, better an as*h*le, that was starting to make irony on the whole situation, like "the company is always right", "you didn't read it well", etc etc, with such an unbelievably rude attitude.
After we explained the issue we had with the first flight, he stated that overbooking can happen but it's not a mistake, it simply happens. How it can be that we pay a ticket for a seats that doesn't exist, and it's not a company mistake? I still cannot believe he replied that
Then he started saying that at least he was sorry for what happened, with a sadist smile on his face, clearly meaning that he was not giving a s**t of us or of our experience.
We were ready to ask for a manager, but the boarding was opened in the meantime, and we paid the extra, just to leave asap.
Once we paid, when I said "let's close the deal and leave" the guy stated that "there's no deal to close, because the company is always right, we are not contracting on these things" always with that sadist ironic smile of who knows to have the power.
But the power of what ? Of having unhappy customers ?
It's a shame for a company to have these problems and these policies, and it's even more a shame to have these people with them.
I wanted also to pay cash, but no "only credit card".
So what ? It seems like we were there, at their service and not the opposite, after paying 700€ for 2 people, back and forth.
Having to pay extra fees for a service already paid, to find out after, that cabin stowe was also empty !!!
Without remembering all the disservices we had, and the rudeness of the male assistant.
KM malta is blacklisted for me, and I hope for many other customers. I strongly hope someone will take severe measures against this company and its policies. This company doesn't deserve to exist. There are plenty of low fares company with more experience, better prices and better services.
KM Malta baggage policy is underhanded…
KM Malta baggage policy is underhanded and unclear.
Purchased an extra 15kg of baggage on top of the 20kg allowance. Went to check in with a 27kg bag. Was told the weight needed to be in two seperate bags.
I was charged an additional 70 euros for excess baggage for the 7kg.
No refund for the additional baggage I did buy.
Airlines looking to deceive customers. Poor national airline.
A total disappointment
A total disappointment.
The flight KM117 was supposed to leave at 1155am, but when the clock reaches 0130pm, we were told further delay would be expected due to the lack of an oxygen cylinder. We were told there would be 2 options, one was to fly an empty plane to Gatwick to pick all of us up, the other option was to get a spare oxygen cylinder from Heathrow. Then by 0500pm we were told the flight had to be cancelled for the day and the most disgusting thing was they re-booked us for the next day morning 0500pm flight which meant we had to get up and leave the local hotel at 0200pm, what a joke. The question is why they didn't fly an empty plane to Gatwick as they told us one of the options in the first place, and instead, they booked us to the next day morning flight at ridiculous time, saved hotel bills and a chartered flight for them, because that would be a lot more expensive than us customers who were just a bunch of numbers. Shame on the parent company KLM and will not use them again.
Malta is full of pets that people have…
Malta is full of pets that people have to leave behind because none of the budget airlines flying out of Malta with animals. KM Malta have the most ridiculous requirements to fly with animals and then once you fulfil them you are reject HOURS before you fly. It’s revolting.
There is no customer service number to talk about pets only email and they ignore you.
Beware. Their website lies.
