A few of us had a carvery at The Kings Highway restaurant.
The chef Richard who served the veg was so friendly and accomodating. The waiting staff were great, and as for the veg trimmings....it was fantastic. Possibly the best roast potatoes l've had.
Everything was hot and fresh which is impressive as we had the carvery at 7.45pm and they finish serving at 8.00pm. I've been to other carveries in the past, where they don't always replenish when they are almost ready to shut down. Not in this case. Chef Richard made sure everything was pipping hot and fresh.
Just love to say came to the hotel the other day and Claire was amazing and kind and very helpful
We had a wonderful experience at The Kings Highway for our Christmas meal. We were a party of 19, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. A special thank you to Charlie, who looked after us so well. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone was happy, nothing was too much trouble, and her friendly, attentive service made the afternoon extra special.
Thank you, Charlie, for being absolutely brilliant you really made our visit!
I was bitterly disappointed and embarrassed after recommending to a friend that we go there for the carvery lunch. If I hadn't had to pay before I saw the carvery, we would have gone somewhere else. Firstly we had to wait for the chef to come out of the kitchen to serve us the meat. None of the veg looked very appertising, the carrots had the skins on and were stringy, the peas were hard, the cauliflower cheese was tastless, the sweet potato/squash etc.
Not only was the food tasteless it was at the very best luke warm. No one came and asked us how our meal was and because I didn't want to make a scene we left. As we were leaving we saw other people had left their meals.
I had vouchers for a discount on main meals.
I showed the vouchers at the till and asked what meals the discount covered, and was advised that all main meals, including the ‘mini-meal’ options, were covered.
Subsequently, I returned to the till to place my order and was advised, by a different member of staff, that the discount would not apply to the ‘mini-meal’ options. I pointed out that I had already been informed that they are included, and no response was made by the member of staff.
I ordered two items from the ‘mini-meal’ menu, and paid full price.
Both meals were close to inedible, looking as though they had been re-made from previously served food.
On the way out I noticed a board stating feedback was welcomed from those who had enjoyed their meal. I am guessing that Steve and his staff are, therefore, not going to be interested in this review.
Upon a recent stay, and a very long journey previous,
I was totally disappointed, the room in itself was ok it’s a bed, but seeing a blood stained pillow, wasn’t pleasant, the mirror on the door hadn’t been cleaned in weeks! The toilet seat was so loose, only one side holding it on, the I went to the Pub for a carvery,
I was discusted the vegetables it was a complete mess,
Roast potatoes we’ll call the chips, it was a disastrous meal, which I so desperately needed after the long haul, then I went to try internet! That was another disaster.
Basically the hotel is tired! And it’s very basic
Secondly I wasn’t vastly impressed, next morning going all around the building in order to use front door, when on previous occasion, I used to pop across to side door
That’s is completely off putting to any visitor, then to be welcomed by what’s your Room number, then charged extra for breakfast, which was nearly as bad as the carvery the night before!
Please if you want custom improve the meal quality not basics! Hotel have damned good clean, and sort out toilet seats. Loose toilet seat isn’t pleasant.
I can Promise this company I Shall not be returning,
Untill you get a manager that cares about their customers and welcome with a pleasant room and a good quality Carvery, There’s plent of other places that provide a better service & care, if not then close down, I have contacted Marstons, of my discust off KingsHigway, so please consider some rapid changes,
I have since spoken to other people who has used this place recently- verdict was basic and poor, not impressed
It's a long time since I've been hear. I came with mates on Saturday. The beers is good. The place needs doing up really but we had a good nite.
Definitely coming back
Booked hotel room, smells of tobacco smoke, toilet doesn’t flush, bed lumpy . Very expensive and disappointing. Would not recommend
The pubs fine with friendly staff and reasonable food.
The hotel rooms are also reasonable, clean and well equipped for the money, however the company does need to ensure that the rooms are cleaned everyday, beds made tea facilities refreshed and bathrooms at least wiped over, which were not done and is the reason for losing some stars.
Basic room, don’t book breakfast (it will never arrive) and if you want a drink with ice in it - tough luck, when we were in the bar - no ice.
Really enjoy coming here, child friendly, staff are very polite and food is nice and service is very good, we choose to start coming here a few years ago as most places frown at children but here there is a play area outdoors and toys indoors as well as crayons and colouring activities for them to do. I would recommend it to anyone.
