An update to my review of January 2022…
An update to my review of January 2022 for the Keston C40 which has now died with water leakage from the heat exchanger gasket. By acquiting a refurbished fan from Wembley at a quarter of the price Keston proposed to charge i extended the life by lmost three years. So the boiler is now 19 which is pretty good. The problem is that no one other than keston make a heat only twin flu boiler it seems.
3 Years, fault-free and delivers every day.
Had a C30 installed in my flat 3 years ago after the old boiler refused to work any more, and have waited until now to see how it has performed before reviewing.
I needed a boiler which could support an extended flue through the roof space, as the old flue was no longer compatible with regs. and my plumber (who is excellent and whose opinion I value) recommended a Keston, and I have not regretted it.
All I can say is, it has been absolutely fine. Comletely fault-free, no more expensive to service than any other and has delivered everything I wanted, including peace of mind.
22 years of good service...
I had a Celsius 25 installed in 2003 and it's just about to be retired just because it sounds a little noisy esp when the heating comes on. Kettling in the heat exchanger probably. Had to have board replaced under warranty 21 years ago and regular servicing has kept it running flawlessly. Going for C35 Combi now so I'll report back in 22 years time as how it performed.
Not a good system
Not a good system, after 4 years we get constant re-occurring issues that seem to be beyond the engineers
Absolutely useless service
Absolutely useless service. Purchased a brand new boiler and not even 6 weeks old, I have 2 fault messages. They have been out already 2 weeks ago. I have 2 young kids and as priority it took them 6 days to come out. I now have had another issue yesterday, clearly the boiler is faulty, amd rather waste time I asked them to replace the boiler, as I know this is going to give me a problem in the future even if they fix it now. You would expect for the amount they charge it would be high quality product.
Rubbish!
My mother-in-law has just moved into a new flat which has a Keston Boiler fitted. I can't find a Boiler contract company that will touch Keston. I thought I'd ring the Company direct for advice. First time I was cut off. Second time, I've just passed 30 minutes waiting. I think I've found out why no one will touch them.
Rubbish!!
Our new home’s Keston boiler is a…DISASTER
Our new home’s Keston boiler is a disaster. Purchasing our home 3 years ago 2/3 Christmas holidays have been ruined by this shoddy unit. Having enjoyed Potterton and Ideal reliability and long life we have a control panel to tell us what else is going wrong. 4 engineers in 4 months is appalling. Don’t entrust your heating system to such a shoddy product. Boilers are simple products. All you get from the bells and whistles control panel is expensive un- warranted expensive bills and no heat
Unreliable and expensive
Have a keston quodos 28s in a flat which has been jn use for only 5 years from new, even though it was installed by the builders 9 years ago. Problems all the time with some engineers not wanting to touch it. Recently it shut down and needs a Pcb which costs nearly £500.
Spoke to Keston who don't make spare parts for these older models ( less than 10yrs) but are willingly to sell you a new one.
You must be Joking! Unreliable and expensive.
Can anyone recommend another brand which takes a small 4inch double flue as the boiler is situated in the middle of the flats.
I had a Keaton C36 installed in 2009
I had a Keaton C36 installed in 2009 - recommended by the Fitter as I wanted to put it in the old hot water cupboard and not an outside wall where I feel boilers are obtrusive - and in all that time have only needed to have one part replaced at fairly minimal cost otherwise it has had regular servicing and has suited me perfectly and been hassle free. It now needs to be replaced as it has a number of parts needing replacing and it will be more cost-effective to get a new boiler after 11- 12 years service and I am going for another Keston so I can use the existing twin flue arrangement although I understand they are now part of Ideal. The only problem I had with them ongoing was if not used for a period of time low water pressure issues but it was an easy fix, opening and refilling and something I could easily do periodically.
Utter piece of junk
We have Keston boilers in both of our rental properties. They were installed by the builders, presumably because they are cheap. We have had nothing but problems with them from the first year onwards. Spent hundreds if not thousands of pounds on repairs. Many heating engineers won't even come out to fix them as they don't trust the boiler to break again after they leave.
We'll be replacing them soon due to another expensive repair bill and will definitely not be replacing them with another Keston. I'm staggered that this company is still in business.
Worst boilers on the market
Bought parts for a boiler control box and fan near a £1000 what a heap of junk do not buy these boilers one of the worst boilers on the market £1000 for parts take them to the scrap merchants that’s all they are good for
I fitted a keston heat 45 under 2 years…
I fitted a keston heat 45 under 2 years ago even though it was still under warranty it needed repair and new parts I had to buy parts myself and repair (what's point of warranty)I have been fitting boilers for many years and this is the worst company I have ever come across I will never fit one again ,and never recommend them a disgraceful service
14 Years good service
I guess this is luck but, my Keston C40 is 14 years old and has, for the first time needed some attention. It requires a new exhaust tube which has perished over the years. I can only say it has performed really well?
Keston C30
Had an install on 05/03/2021 by Ideal Flames of a Keston C30 with Drayton Wiser thermostat, this is a superb boiler and is excellent build quality .
Don't believe all the negativity but parts are really pricey.
I moved into a house in 2012 with 2 Keston C55 system boilers. One is for a large annexe but still massively overspec'd for the property size. At first I heard constant moans from various plumbers who said that Kestons were awful. I even found a local pub was chucking out a perfectly good working C55 just because it needed a new internal flue (condemned for a £55 quid part or because the installers wanted to fit a new boiler!). Thank you very much fitters, lots of free parts! In 9 years I've had a few minor things go wrong but these are solid commercial boilers. You need an engineer competent and familiar with commercial boilers and most plumbers aren't. I have found a good one in Croxley Green, near Watford - they know their stuff. The only gripe I have is that parts are horrifically expensive but I have saved a fortune by using the old, condemned boiler and using e bay for 2nd hand spares. There is an excellent company in Wembley that trades on ebay - good, fair prices for recon parts. Fingers crossed I'll get a few more years.
Keston C35 - Does the job well
I had an old Ideal Isar which lasted 14 years and had it replaced with a Keston C35 as I had a long twin flue system on the Isar. The C35 is the same boiler as the Ideal Logic and I had the magnetic filter fitted so got the 7 year warranty. So far it has been very quiet and does a good job of heating the flat and has a very good flow rate for the hot water. I did do some research on Keston and discovered that when Ideal bought the brand they ditched the old Keston boilers and rebranded the Ideal Logic so both the C35 and Logic 35 are identical. Looks as if the bad reviews are for the old Keston boilers before Ideal bought them over and rebranded the Logic.
This is my second review in 2 days &…
This is my second review in 2 days & guess what it’s all so negative again & quite unbelievable - however it truly verifies my first review about this firm who are I think part of Ideal Boilers
Boiler broke 22nd Jan (Keston Heat 55) - Engineer called 29th Jan, fixed it, then it broke again next day 30th Jan (by the way it is only 3.5 years old)
Next available date for an engineer was today 4th Feb, he called 8.30am to confirm he would be here after mid-day, guess what ???
Well a call from Keston HQ saying he had been delayed but good news !! They are able to rebook the visit for Tuesday next week, 9th Feb - that’s another 5 nights with no heating or hot water !!!!!
SUMMARY - we have spent the last 13 out of 14 nights without heating or hot water & now have to wait another 5 nights before they can look at this
WHAT A COMPLETE & UTTER JOKE - NO CARE, NO CONCERN, HORRIFIC TO DEAL WITH - PRETTY SHAMEFUL REALLY
MIND YOU THE KESTON STAFF ON THE TELEPHONE ARE SO POLITE & NEVER STOP APOLOGISING - SO FOR THAT I SCORE YOU 15 OUT OF 10 !!
Me & my son are off to the North Sea @ Cullercoats tomorrow morning for our swim - all the Keston Staff are welcome to join us as CB part of a team- building exercise where afterwards I will deliver a short motivational talk Zin my swimming trunks
One thing I love about where I am from is that we are great, honest & friendly people and we don’t take kindly to this V level of crapness !!!
Well done Keston - great customer care ...... RUBBISH
STEVE FAIRS ( WALLSEND, NEWCASTLE)
Very reliable, can be fitted anywhere
Old no name boiler broke. It was located in my flats hallway cupboard and had flues in the void. Most boilers need to go on an outside wall and I didn't want to put a boiler in the bedroom and build a cupboard. The plumber recommended Keston, he said they have got much better. I was sceptical after reading some reviews. He said it was either Keston or Baxi if I don't want to move the boiler, I went with Keston as he said it would be less ceiling viewing ports needed. So far it's been over 2 years and it's been great. It broke once but they came out on the same day and fixed it. The warranty can vary depending on if you get a Keston filter and any deals they have so check the website or call. You must register it within 30 days and follow it up to make sure its received. If not you have to pay a fee. The c30 is more than adequate for 2 bed small flat. I can have endless hot showers it's been great. I hope they continue to make them as many flats and older houses have the boiler in a central location.
Avoid Keston and save yourselves
We recently bought a house containing a condemned Keston Qudos 28s. It is an absolute crock of sh** and a hazard to life. It has now been capped off and having read the below reviews (thank you for sharing your pain) we will avoid getting another one. This also means replacing the ‘Kestionable’ double flue system in order to go with a Vaillant boiler and system. More cost but it means we won’t die in our sleep, not to mention the legit expectation of some hot water on demand.
No problems here...
I had my Keston boiler installed in April 2020. It was a good choice as I required a very long flue. I've had no problems at all so far. I think improvements have been made since previous reviews. I have a 7 year warranty but haven't needed to use it so far.
