Very expensive prices at the Beckenham…
Very expensive prices at the Beckenham branch, paid £79 for the same product online £53 including delivery, daylight robbery and check your paint before you leave the shop in my case it didn’t mix properly. Will never return 😡
Stinks!!!
I bought a 2.5l tin of peach pudding, can’t finish the job as it’s awful consistency and as for the stench …. It turns ya stomach
Horrible runny chalk paint
Do not buy Johnstones paint…
I made the mistake of buying johnstones paint(trading since 1890). They used to do decent paint but I now know they are under different ownership. It was terrible, watery didn’t cover and probably wouldn’t pass trade descriptions act for the purpose we buy paint. Bought it in good faith from B&M, I think they ought to think through stocking something of such poor quality. I don’t have much spare cash but had to buy more paint of a different brand that actually covered the walls. Shockingly bad paint do not buy.
Wrong colour in tin. Complained????
I purchased a tin of white emulsion from the range.opened the tin it was cream. Lost bill so couldn't take it back. Complained to Johnstone. Copy of answer from them .
The base colour for all our products is white and it seems on the instance the colour label was no put on this tin.
I have passed this over to our technical team who will be able to help with a
refund.
Never got back so .no more paint from them.
JOHNSTONES SOFT SHEEN
JOHNSTONES SOFT SHEEN
I cannot even express how disappointed I am with this paint.
I now have 4 coats on my walls and they are still not covered properly. I really didn't expect this from a £67 10L tin of paint.
It's soul destroying just watching each coat disappear!
Painted exterior

JOHNSTONE'S MATT VINYL..WORST PAINT EVER
We hired professional painters to paint our lounge. We however purchased the paint. The paint supplied to us was Johnstone's Trade Covaplus Vinyl Matt. It is without doubt THE worst paint I have ever come across. Marks with the lightest of touch...Cannot remove the marks. 2 coats were given. A total waste of time and expense...We ended up painting ALL again with a decent paint. WILL NEVER USE JOHNSTON'S AGAIN!!
Buy 4x the amount
Twice now bought this brand and suffered. Feels like the thing is half water. Avoid.
this is very very poor quality paint
customer supplied the paint.
this is very poor quality, you can see through it. as for cutting in because its such poor quality the cutting in process will take for ever and you wont get straight lines !!
ive just advised my customer who brought it thinking it would be fine only to have to pay more in labour than expected, plus they have to pay for extra to buy dulux.
on the tin it states
colour confidence
what a complete con.
dont buy this make of paint
get dulux or valspar
Took 4 coats of white paint to finish…
Took 4 coats of white paint to finish room, chucked the rest in the bin and bought Fleetwood which managed the job beautifully in 2 coats. Avoid this brand, its muck and will be letting Woodies know I won't be buying anything from them ever again.
Very disappointed!!
Big mistake we used mat paint it's not even been 6 months and paint is peeling off when I tryed to wipe of dirty marks of the wall,
Terrible quality and very disappointing- it’s like using watercolours on your walls
Terrible and disappointing. I selected two paints from the MyColour range. Nightcap was the colour I started with - looks great on the sample sheet but OMG it was so patchy and slow. It was like painting with water colours. We did one section 3 times to see how many coats it would take. I think it would take at least 4 possibly 5. We gave up after one wall and returned the paint. We bought a similar colour in Dulux - regular vinyl Matt- and after 1 coat it had great coverage. I’m so sorry I didn’t read these reviews before buying. I’m out of pocket about €110 not to mention time wasted.
Awful - avoid at all costs.
I have been used to using good oil based gloss white paints for many years, the vast majority recovering white or faded white with one coat.
I made the mistake of listening to a local supplier who couldn't praise this paint enough. I bought just a small 1l tin as was skeptical about the quality and coverage of a water based gloss paint.
It quickly became apparent that this paint is very thin with poor coverage. Once dry you can see every brush stroke and streak and runs very easily.
Please don't be persuaded to buy what I was told was the 'best paint in the UK'.
Terrible
Terrible. This is the worst paint I have ever used. It looks so bad I ended up using it as an under coat and had to buy dulux to go over the top. It’s just leaves massive streaks on the wall and is so thin and watery. It’s absolutely horrendous. I can’t imagine this company gets any repeat customers after the first time they try the paint. Never again.
Ceiling paint a disaster patchy after 2…
Ceiling paint a disaster patchy after 2 coats on a already white ceiling
Johnstones Trade Acrylic Durable Matt
Johnstones Trade Acrylic Durable Matt. Many of the reviews on here do not say what paint they are using. I have used the Acrylic Durable Matt for about 12 years. 3 full house paints. This time it is dreadful. I am covering a light peach with a soft almond. I am now on my 3rd coat. Really bad flashing around the edges. They have just had their 4th coat! The walls have been lightly sanded, washed with sugar soap, rinsed and left to dry. The wet edge is tricky, I now lightly dry roller and leave for 4 hours before I go near it, if I cannot do it within minutes. It drags and comes away if I don't . I sadly will not be using this again.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST
If I could give this company nil points I would !
I purchased all the paint from this store for a major renovation and was so so disappointed by their colour match service. I was told it would be a close match. It was completely wrong. I had a professional decorator with many years of experience who was shocked at how far out the colour was.
Sadly the colour was applied to my shop, walls and counters and on my return I was horrified by the colour nothing like it should have been. I headed back to the shop to complain and 2 months later I have waited for a response which is wholly inadequate, basically saying they only provide a close match. It was about 20 shades lighter. Customer service is disgraceful PLEASE AVOID THIS SHODDY COMPANY AT ALL COST
