Sleepy Cashier, The Plum Grove Rd,Palatine Illinois

The Plum Grove Rd, Palatine Illinois store needs to speak with their cashiers. 3rd time I've been at Matthew's register and hes extremely depressed, talks like hes ready to fall asleep. Today the lady in front of me, told him he needs caffeine. He said he needs Gatorad. The customer service Mgr needs to take him off the registers. 3 times was enough for me at that store

Customers, especially elderly or vulnerable individuals, deserve respect

I had a very disappointing experience at Jewel-Osco that I believe management should address. This was the store location in Batavia, Illinois 119 S Randall Rd. 3219 7/7/2026 - 8:15 am approx.

When I arrived at the register, no one was there. The payment terminal prompted me to enter my phone number, so I did. The cashier had said she would be right there, and I told her I wasn't in a hurry. When she came over, she immediately scolded me for entering my phone number into the credit card terminal. After I felt uncomfortable and attempted to leave, I walked back since I needed the items.

While my groceries were being scanned, I noticed the advertised sale price wasn't applying. I politely asked about it and was told rudely that it would come off at the end. When it didn't, she rudely asked if I clipped the deal, and when I said no and started to, she rudely said, "You need to clip the deal." She was not able to get the deal price reduced, the self check out person came over.

Instead of resolving the issue professionally, I was spoken to in a condescending manner and repeatedly questioned in a way that made me feel belittled. She continued to ask if the phone number I entered was correct, and after responding three times that it was, she asked again and said, "I need you to look at the number (showing in the app, which I had opened and had already done), and confirm it," so I confirmed for the 4th time.

The interaction became so upsetting that I started crying. The employee on self-checkout responded without empathy by saying, "Ma'am, there's no reason to cry. It's just cherries." My reaction wasn't about the cherries—it was about how I was being treated.

The discount was eventually applied, but no customer should be made to feel embarrassed or disrespected while trying to complete a purchase. I hope Jewel-Osco addresses this matter so other customers, especially elderly or vulnerable individuals, are treated with the courtesy and respect they deserve.

Self checkout = we don’t care about our customers at all

Never enough cashiers. To many self checkout units that consistently frustrate shoppers, and constantly throws error requiring a human to intervene multiple times anyway. Self checkout increases shop lifting, disenfranchises customers, and benefit no one but the companies that sell or lease self checkout systems.

I no longer shop at any store that will put people out of work in order to frustrate customers and put money in the pockets of self checkout providers. That leads me with Caputo’s and Butera and I’m fine with that. I want to spend another diamond any establishment that forces me to be my own cashier an outdated system that can’t check out a single person without incident once.

Website is awful. App is horrible. The June 2026 update is ridiculous. Who the heck designs this crap without testing it? I don’t shop there anymore BECAUSE it’s so horrible.

On Thursday, June 4th at approximately 7:30 pm, I went to the service desk for assistance. Anna answered my questions thoroughly. Anna is professional, pleasant and helpful. Kudos to Anna!

Prices ring up wrong every time

Prices ring up wrong every time. I have learned to always check the receipt before leaving the store so that Jewel customer service can correct and refund the difference to my credit card. Today, I had waited in line at customer service for more than 10 minutes before reaching the counter. Unfortunately, at the same time a delivery person walked up, and the Jewel staff member turned to him and started receiving boxes and signing receipts. She told me, "Just a second," but it took 6 more minutes before she turned back to fix the error on my purchase while ice cream--buy 1 get 1 free--melted in my cart.

Jewel Osco app and pricing practices are discriminatory

Jewel Osco app not user friendly. Too confusing to find sale item and ensure it is in the basket.
Also, seniors and people with disabilities have a difficult time with the app. As a result, these folks inadvertently pay more.
Also, their policy of bulk purchases, ie buy 3 to get the best price, is discriminatory in that less affluent people cannot afford to spend the extra needed to buy in bulk.

Full of false advertising tricky sales…

Full of false advertising tricky sales adds. Multiple sale items placed in the wrong place to trick customers to buy the non sale higher priced items. The sales in the fish department are not the sales they represent on the signs its a vague trick false advertising. The employees dont care they brush it off when brought to their attention. Its been this way the past year. My family and I are done with this store. Their not reputable taking advantage of customers.

Wooddale il Jewel has changed owners and it a good change.

Wooddale il Jewel has changed owners and the changes they have made are terrible.
The change the new owners seem to be OK with is shelving products that are expired. In my case it was Breakstone sour cream. Twice I have been disappointed that every container, several dozen, were expired by days. Speaking up and pointing it to the staff has not changed the store's new Bad practice.

Jewel Osco Thieves & Corrupt

Jewel Osco, especially the S Canal location in Chicago, does not deliver all the items you order and pay for. They then pocket the money, deny refunds, and blame us as customers. Frank is one of the worst store managers I have ever worked with.

Poor service and overcharged

I did my normal delivery order and i was charged twice on my visa and they won't remove it
This has never happened before and I will never order again
When I called there I said my purchase was 6. and you charged my visa 23. and it's still on there.
The man I spoke with was very rude and was raising his voice at me.
Now I see why your reviews are terrible

The app is horrible

The app is horrible. If you don’t clip the coupon prices are high. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to find the couponed items. Sometimes impossible even for store employees. The last thing I want to do on my way home from work get frustrated trying to pick up dinner. I will not be shopping a Jewel until the prices listed are same at the checkout without the arduous app!

3 Jewel stores-app is the worst

I travel between three different Jewel stores. The app is absolutely horrendous. And you’re forced to use it because the prices are out of sight if you don’t. However the app never works when you’re in the store there’s always an outage you can’t connect to the store Wi-Fi. There’s service issues. I have to put all my Products that can be coupon in the top of the basket and then before check out I stand by the window and clip all my coupons. Why can’t it be like Target. The Target app you put in your phone number and they give you the sale prices upon check out. Best app ever. This clipping coupons is absolutely horrible. And I feel bad for anyone who doesn’t have a strong sense of tech knowledge. They don’t get the sale prices. Jewel is a scam
