heartbroken granddaughter
Took my granddaughter to get her prom dress from here, she fell in love with one of their dresses.
I paid a nonreturnable deposit and my granddaughter was measured by one of their business owners so we put in our order.
On return to pick up ordered dress, my excited granddaughter was left upset to find the dress was two sizes too big.
As the staff there agreed it was too big they contacted their boss by phone, who wanted them to remeasure my granddaughter to check her measurements were the same as the one taken on the first meeting, this was confirmed to be the same. What followed was nearly two hours of phone conversations and fittings that got heated when it became apparent the owner would only offer seventy five pounds towards getting the dress altered to fit, as this wouldn’t have covered the work to be done I refused that offer, only for the owner to rudely tell me the discount no longer applied and I would have to paid the full price of five hundred pounds for the dress, as I told her I would be leaving a negative review for their business.
Sadly I left with a dress that didn’t fit of five hundred pounds and a distorted granddaughter with her dreams of a beautiful prom shattered.
This business owner could have easily sorted this, but threatened legal action if I was to leave a negative/ truthful review with no regard for the distessed vulnerable teenager.

Positives: Lovely shop, lots of choice, friendly staff when making your purchase, beautiful dresses.

Although the staff seemed so young, when we had our appointment to purchase a dress, they were helpful, informative but felt a little rushed into making a decision on my daughter’s dress.
We purchased her prom dress in early Oct to ensure we had plenty of choice and to receive it early enough to pair with accessories, and to get it altered if needed.
We didn’t receive her dress until May, so be prepared to wait months!!!!!!! our seamstress is now fully booked and I now need to find an alternative for alternations in minimal time.
During my correspondence with Jeneveve chasing up delivery of the dress, I found them rude and tried to tell me I was lying. They said I would have been told of the long waiting times. I can ensure you I wasn’t!!!
When we had the appointment to collect the dress, it was a completely different experience to when we had the first appointment to choose the dress. Lack of customer service, lots of staff just chatting to each other. It was like they’ve made the sale and the rest they didn’t care about.
This is my honest opinion from my personal experience.

If I could put 0 stars I would. When we went for my daughter's dress fitting we were rushed and my daughter was told by the owners mother that she looked "washed out" in them dresses. We found "the dress" which fitted ok needed go up a size for comfort we ordered it in store. When it came to collection day we were all full of excitement when we got there the two girls in store where lovely and friendly. My daughter excitingly put the dress on to find it 4/5 inches to big round the waist and way to big round the bust. The store assistant rang "the boss" who after alot of back and forward made my daughter get remeasured. All the exact same numbers came out. She tried to say oh your daughter has lost weight erm nope as the numbers are the same. We tried on the sample dress again which is an L to find again it fitted well just could have gone up a size for comfort. We looked at the dress which had been ordered in was a XXXL. So again back on the phone with "the boss" we explain again the issue (this was all while we were in the store) she says well I want videos of the girl in the dresses again sent the videos (I have them on my phone here) she says to my mum well your granddaughter chose a dress that does suit her body style erm I'm sorry but who says that. The dress looks amazing. So in the end she said you can have 10% off the sample dress. £50 off 🤨. She had a "sale" on all dresses in store which is 10% anyway so how does this compensate my daughter who's in tears at this point. She then says oh I'll give you 15% off £75 still not good enough as we couldn't get the alterations done for that. Anyway we said it's not good enough and will be buying the dress and leaving a bad review on all her sites her response was well you will here from my solicitor. Threating us if we leave a bad review(bring on the legal action)
After this she told the shop assistant we couldn't get any discount she knew she had us over a barrel as it's to late to order another dress in. We ended up paying full price for the dress which was £507 and will now be spending way over £100 on alterations. All in all today we spent 2 hours in the store. today should have been one of the best days but turned out my daughter and myself crying in store as the so called professional hasn't done her job properly. Oh and on the telephone "the boss" was extremely rude and _nasty_ . I do have prove of all of this as it's all recorded

From start to finish we were well looked after by Matilda. All the other staff we interacted with were also super nice, and this will be top of our choice (even if we do have to travel 200 miles) should we need anymore dresses!
They have a fantastic range in sizes which played a huge part of booking as my daughter is smaller than the 'average size' of someone her age. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Prom dress shopping!
I took my daughter here to get a dress for her prom and we had a very positive experience. Being a dad and not really knowing about these things I had left it too late to order anything in, but my daughter managed to find lots of dresses in the colour and size that she wanted. The salesperson was very friendly and helpful, and gave great advice throughout. I said what our budget was when we arrived and at no point did they try to push anything too expensive on us. After trying and retrying on various dresses my daughter left with one that was absolutely beautiful, and they gave us a card for a seamstress to get the length altered in time for the big night. Overall it was a really great experience and she will look fantastic on the night, thanks very much!!

I was looked after by the lovely Grace who was incredibly helpful and made us feel so so comfortable. She knew exactly what dress to grab to suit what i liked and made our visit feel so so special.

Suzie was so helpful from the minute we walked in. Maisie tried lots of different styles/colours and is normally quite indecisive. Not today.. she has never brought a dress so quickly and a beautiful dress it is. Thank you Suzie for your help and amazing customer service
Very poor after sales customer service
My daughter tried on several dresses Nov 2022 ready for her prom 30th June 2023 so we thought we had plenty of time. Initially the staff were very friendly & helpful, mostly young girls and my daughter found her dream dress. She tried on a size 8 as that was the only size they had, though she is a size 6 so they had to use bulldog clips to pull it in and they took her measurements and wrote them on the invoice when I paid £100 deposit. We were under the impression they were ordering a size 6 as the size 8 sample dress was too big but this was not written on the invoice. I then paid 50% of the full cost (£525) so the dress could be ordered. The delivery date on the invoice said May/June time so I rang from early May every week asking when it would be in, very rude staff just kept telling me it will be in June and they would contact me! Other girls dresses were being collected already even though they had ordered 2mths after us so we were getting panicky. Eventually got a call to collect it Sat 17th June, even though the prom was on 30th June so we were relieved. Upon collection and trying it on my daughter said it’s a size 8 and miles too big, I said to the young sales girl I thought we were getting a size 6? She just said the measurements were a size 8. So I thought ok it just needs to be taken in. The bottom of the dress was too long as my daughter is short but we were expecting that but it was very creased and wrinkled as if it had just been taken out of a box just before we arrived. I noticed that a part of the embroidered bodice was was twisted, again I got told oh it just needs pressing we don’t do that. So I paid the balance and took it away relived that we finally had it. But when we took it to our local seamstress on the following Tuesday evening and my daughter tried it on she was horrified at the poor quality and defect of the dress. She asked how much I paid and where I got it from and said that is very unprofessional to let me take it away knowing that the bodice was very twisted and the whole thing would have to be taken apart. She was very shocked and said this is her 52nd prom dress to be altered this year so she was very experienced but said had never seen such poor quality for a very expensive dress!
I rang the store the next day but the person I spoke to just spoke over me and wouldn’t let me speak. She kept saying bring it back and we will see what we can do. I said I can’t as it’s with the seamstress and we are running out of time with less than 10 days to go and if it had taken 6 mths to order my daughters dream dress what were they going to do, swap it for a dress she didn’t want?! I stuck with the seamstress as I trusted her judgement and experience and I had no choice and she said she will take it apart and do the best she could. I sent all my concerns to Jeneveve on email and got completely ignored. I sent a follow up email after the Prom and allowed my daughter to relish in how beautiful she looked as the seamstress took it all apart and took it in by 6 inches! My daughter wanted to post photos of herself in the dress to her social media and tag them in, I was reluctant at first as how badly they had let us down but I didn’t want this to ruin my daughters happiness so I agreed as all her friends were doing it and I didn’t want her to miss out.
Little did I know Jeneveve would throw this back in my face that my daughter was happy posting photos of herself in the dress so this makes my complaint irrelevant!!
I found out that the supplier was Prom Frocks so I forwarded my complaint emails onto them. They ignored me and Jeneveve rang me to refund the alterations cost. I asked the lady about the defect which we had to fix, she denied all knowledge of it and I said I suggest she speaks to the owner as I am still not happy with their aftersales customer service and to pass this on.
Received a response from Prom Frocks today after chasing them saying they shouldn’t be talking to me as they don’t deal with customers and strongly refute any poor quality assurance and nothing wrong with the dress. I wish I had taken photos of the twisted bodice before the seamstress fixed it as I have no evidence to show them or take it any further. I wish I had never gone to Jeneveve as the staff are very rude and blunt if you are unhappy with their service and do not acknowledge that they can sell poor quality dresses for a lot of money to unsuspecting customers. I would avoid them had I known this would have happened!

Collected my daughters .prom dress today. Fabulous prom shop! This is the second time we have purchased a dress from here. Both times we had great service!
We ordered a dress back in January and was getting a little panicky that it wouldn’t turn up in time, but Jeneveve contacted us twice in this time to keep us updated and promised us it would be with us in time.
Yes the dresses are a little pricey but the whole experience and making my daughters feel so special it’s well worth it. Thanks Jeneveve xx

Went in to find a dress, the experience started off relatively good. We were left to pick a few dresses out, then went and tried them on. I fell in love with one of them, but the price was extortionate for something that had wear and tear. The dress was torn at the bottom of the zip (I was buying straight off the rail as I didn’t have time to order one in), and all she said she could discount was £15!
My mum asked whether a part exchange is accepted (I’d bought a dress the previous year from them) in which the girl just replied rude and bluntly “No.”
Once I’d said we’ll have to just leave it as it was well out of our price range, she may aswell have ripped the dress off of me and then just walked away.
It’s a shame as in 2022, I came to find a dress and had the most pleasant experience, it was an older lady who was nothing but helpful. We found a dress that had been placed on the discount rail, it had a small crystal hanging off and the lace was slightly frayed, but she took £100 off the price!
The store is run by young girls who don’t have a clue about customer service.

AVOID THIS BUSINESS! My daughter fell in love with her dress! It was an off the rack dress and Paid £100 deposit to pick up next week! Due to unforeseen circumstances my daughter can no longer attend her prom due to a serious health condition! And needing a head MRI Scan, I called the shop and spoke to a lovely young lady who tried to be as helpful as possible! I asked for the manager to call me which she did! She was cold as ice and would not refund the deposit for the dress! She said “ at the end of the day this is a business and the deposit is non refundable! Although it doesn’t state that on the invoice! She said “ it is on the desk where you paid! I even offered medical proof!
I just wanted the refund back so I could put it towards pampering my daughter if/when she gets better!
I’m heart broken that a woman could be so cold! Now my daughter feels guilty for being sick! AVOID THIS BUSINESS! HEARTLESS! I WILL BE PURSUING THIS LEGALLY! The call was recorded by me!

Absolutely terrible service. Ordered dress 5th Feb for prom 7th July - dress turns up in 1st July wrong colour and poorly made.
Sold sample dress and they retained my deposit so paid c£300 for poorly made, used, stained dress that cost over £100 to have made to fit my daughter
The owner / manager is rude and I was bullied and lied to into removing my original Facebook post saying they would not assist me with a replacement dress
