Japan is beautiful and camping is cool.
But don’t use Japan RV rental.
We just finished a 3 week rental of a camper van from Japan RV rental. And what an disappointing experience.
For starters, we had 3 different vans.
The first one had malfunctioning brakes. Actually after one week the front brakes were completely gone. Not a very nice experience when you drive around in the Japanese mountains with your family. When we called to tell about the problem, they told us that noise from the brakes was quite normal. We had to insist that they had someone look at the car. It turned out that the brake was completely broken. We had to put our trip on standby and spend a night in a hotel before we got a new camper, quite shocked about what could have happened if we had trusted Japan RV Rental.
After one week in the second camper, the electrical system fail. We had one more day on stand before we got yet another camper. Luckily for us, it was now the Osaka Branch that helped us out. Much more professional than the Narita branch.
After the problem with the brakes they offered us a compensation on 10k Jpy, which is less than a days rent. (We never received the compensation). As we argued that it was a poor compensation, the response was that we caused all the problems by our self. We are still waiting for an answer on how we caused one out of 4 brakes to not working anymore😂😂
We are really disappointed and surprised with Japan RV rental. And mostly the Narita branch. It’s the first time we experience this kind of behavior in Japan. Instead of accepting that the product they sold us was not up to standard(at all!!) they try to blame the customers. We spend so much money and have been looking forward to this camper-trip for several years, and these guys don’t care at all. We will really not recommend this company to anybody
