The trip is amazing in many respects, the star that is missing is due to the road system in Zimbabwe and because of that, couple of days were spent on long bumpy drives with very limited activities. B... See more

I did the 2 week classic Vietnam trip, starting in Saigon and ending in Hanoi. Great trip, made even better by our fantastic guide Thanh Vu. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he was always available if we needed him. The highlights would have to be the bike ride through the rice fields of Hoi An and of course, Halong Bay. I highly recommend the Kayaking. My only downside for the whole trip would be the amount of free days. I prefer it to be more structured and not have free days, but as this was on the itinerary I was well aware of this when I booked the trip.

We did the Premium Turkey In Depth tour over 15 days. We were a small group of 5, plus our tour guide (Tarik) and driver (Mustafa). The trip could not have been better organised from start to finish. Highlights included seeing Gallipoli (despite some bad weather), the archeological sites of Ephesus and Hierapolis, our boat trip out of Kas on a beautiful sunny day, the surprising Sultanhani Caravanserai, the caves of Cappadocia, and the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul. We ate fabulous food, drank really good Turkish wine, and were welcomed everywhere we were taken with what I now know is typical Turkish hospitality. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history, archeology, architecture, food and culture of Turkey. We will be coming back to do the Eastern Turkey Explorer next.

I travelled with Intrepid through South Africa, Botswana and through to the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe April though till early May 2026 and had the most amazing holiday! It was well organised, the guides were had were informed, funny and friendly. Accommodation was very adequate and we were upgraded a couple of times due to weather. We saw loads of animals and got to visit a Rhino sanctuary, meet the Black Mambas, women who patrol Kruger National Park and other Intrepid supported charities as part of the trip. It was a wonderful experience and one I am very happy to reccommend.

Our Greek Island intrepid holiday was unbelievable, Great group size. Wonderful and very personable tour Leader Eva. Eva couldn't do enough for us to make sure we all have a memorable time. Everything ran very smoothly with all accommodation being conveniently located, clean and comfortable, we definitely had 5star accommodation at Syros, with unbelievable views and great location. Activities well planned and balanced. Overall, couldn't have asked for more other than we should have done longer.

He gave us lots of great advice about the area that he knows well . Loved our warm up exercises together . Loved our chats with Mika about life in general in such a beautiful place . The hotel in Dobbiaco was really good to base yourself in , staff at hotel were so lovely to our group .

I am extremely disappointed with Intrepid Travel’s handling of customer deposits and cancellation policies.
I canceled my trip more than 90 days before departure and was surprised to learn that Intrepid would not return my deposit. In my view, the policy was not presented with sufficient clarity during booking, and the company showed little flexibility even though there was substantial time before the trip date.
What concerns me most is not simply the loss of the deposit, but the business practice itself. Many travelers reasonably assume that canceling well in advance would allow at least a partial refund or credit option. Instead, the response felt rigid and customer-unfriendly.
Before booking with Intrepid, I strongly encourage travelers to carefully review the fine print regarding deposits and cancellations and to confirm—in writing—exactly what is refundable and under what circumstances.
I am posting this so other travelers can make a fully informed decision before committing funds.

This was actually a combination of two tours. Calabria - the first tour - takes you to some amazing places off the beaten track, such as Civita and Pollino National Park, as well as tourist hot spots such as Taormina. A highlight was the bed and breakfast in Civita. The tour leader, Katia, is from the area and she was fantastic - high energy, passionate, fun. The second part of the trip - from Catania to Palermo - shows you the incredible beauty and history of Southern Sicily. We had a great time with Divo - also an amazing tour leader - kind, knowledgeable, caring and passionate. Highlights of this part of the tour was the Valley of the Temples and Erice. I have travelled many times with Intrepid and this was definitely among my favorite trips. Great variety of experiences, excellent food, insights into local culture.

I learned so much about Morocco on my Intrepid tour, it's history, religions, customs, art, food, etc. I had only used a tour group once before and it was difficult dealing with the differences between the languages (even though we both spoke English) just to get to the start of the tour. Intrepid was seamless, the group leader was experienced in resolving any issue (one woman fell and hit her head, he got a doctor to come to her room to check her injury and then searched different locations to find a pharmacy open on Sunday, I needed to get to the airport at 3:00 am for a 6:10 am return flight and he make the arrangements). The leader answered all my questions even ones about his family and personal experiences. The driver of the van was very careful and went over bumps slowly. I get motion sick and the bumps and the curves in the mountains could have caused me problems if he drove too fast. I never mentioned it because he already knew to be careful. He also was always parked where he needed to be when getting on or off the 12 seat bus or picking up or delivering us and our luggage at hotels. The hotels were beautiful and a part of the cultural experience, as was the food for the many included meals. The side tours always had an expert guide who would be waiting for us to arrive. Morocco has so many skilled craft workers and thanks to the wisdom of their King their skills have been kept alive. We visited those craft workers and witnessed them performing their skills. I would definitely go on other Intrepid tours and I have already encouraged others to visit Morocco. I want to add something not on our tour but it further reflects the integrity of this company. The tour leader told us during Covid when the world was locked up, Intrepid took care of staff financially. He greatly appreciated that. I heard in that comment that Intrepid is a company that cared to retain their valued staff over pure profit. That not only meant a lot to him, it meant a lot to me to know that it wasn't just a great tour I was experiencing but a tour company with completely high standards. I couldn't have had a better experience. My sister who was my companion and who has traveled extensively around the world agreed that this tour was one of the best tours she's ever had.

I took the 49 day, Capetown to Nairobi tour of Africa. Our accommodations were tents (which were ok, though heavy and not waterproof). We spent SO much time just sitting in a hot truck. Most days were simply take the tent down in the dark, get on the bus and drive for 6-10 hours. The food was great, our driver was safe, but the tour leader was petty, withheld information and lied to me on more than one occasion. Working with him was not just unpleasant, but dangerous. He sucked the joy from what should have been a trip of a lifetime.
What made the trip worse was that Intrepid changed the itinerary of the tour several days into the experience. I could not get a satisfactory explanation of the changes from the company or the tour leader. When I contacted customer service asking for a clear new itinerary they denied that any changes had occurred!
NOTHING could get me to travel with Intrepid again.

My wife and I have just completed a tour of Vietnam with Intrepid Travel, commencing in Hanoi, then visiting Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and finally Ho Chi Minh City. We were blessed to have Quang Dang as our Tour Guide for the six days. He was immense. He did everything possible to make the trip enjoyable for the Group, quickly assessing the strengths and weaknesses of everyone. He had a unique sense of humour, endless patience and put everyone immediately at ease. Thank you Intrepid Travel and well done Quang! You were brilliant!

This was an absolute awesome trip (East Africa tour with Zanzibar) Kenya and Tanzania. The guide and drivers were terrific. The wildlife and culture of the native people was a fantastic experience. What an abundance of wildlife. Tick off the big five with a rare sighting of the Black Rhino. Only regret was not having 2/3 nights in Niarobi to start off with.

We just returned from 2 back to back excursions - Galápagos Islands comfort and Premium Peru ( included the Amazon rain forest and Machu Picchu).
Our tour guides were amazing people - friendly, knowledgeable and really helpful. They made the trip. The itineraries were great and the cultural immersion was really special. We also heard personal stories from the tour guides, which was special.
Travel in South America can often be less than comfortable, but we expected that. Our days often started really early in the morning, but they did a good job of providing periods of down time.
After 3 weeks we are glad to be home - we came home quite tired.
We live in the US and traveled with relatives from Canada. The US prices for these trips are considerably higher than in Canada, so we just had our relatives book the trip for us. Not sure why the price difference is so significant.

I just did my second intrepid tour (1st in Australia - Uluru) and I was absolutely blown away. My tour guide had incredible knowledge of the aboriginal culture and sites. He went above and beyond for the guests. He kept the vibes up and had such a friendly nature. He also gets on very well with all the other tour guides which makes for a lovely environment at points of interest. He drove the vehicle very well, and I felt safe at all times. He was very environmentally conscious with recycling and rubbish. Nothing was a problem - being dropped to the bottlo or popping back to Uluru for 1 more photo. He worked so hard to make sure everyone got amazing photos! Even sitting down for the angles!
I needed gluten free food and he catered so incredibly well and made sure I was never left out or hungry! It was such peace of mind for me to know he had well and truly stocked up for me! My previous intrepid tour in Spain/Portugal wasn’t as well catered for my diet so I am SO appreciative.
This trip will remain in my memories as such an amazing time. I honestly wouldn’t do Uluru any other way but with Intrepid. We saw sites no one else would go to and learnt so much along the way.
Jessie gave an extremely positive reflection of intrepid and you are incredibly lucky to have him working for you. He told us multiple times that he loves his job and intrepid is amazing to work for!

A Tour Leader makes your trip and Vijay's knowledge and experience and history knowledge of Northern India was exceptional. He made sure that everyone was taken care of to the highest standard. Highlight was having long lunch outside on a farm viewing the Himalayas. The tour was fabulous so different from the rest of India, heavily influenced by Tibetan and Nepalese culture and Buddhism. The food was exceptional, scenery of Himalayas breathtaking and the accommodation of a high standard. The overnight train was clean and comfortable. Shimla was a highlight, Mandi picturesque, McLeod Ganj unbelievable. Amritsar's Golden Temple a must see. Rishikesh on the Ganges was busy, full of culture. Intrepid is to be congratulated for this tour and I highly recommend it, especially paced well for older/retired travellers who want to see a different aspect of India. Highly recommend this tour for a different experience in India.

I recently spent 2 weeks in Vietnam and our tour guide HuongNguyen was brilliant so helpful & super dependable. The hotels were great as were the excursions. We had down time to do what we wanted but there were options that we could do if we wanted. Certainly no hard sell. He took care of all tipping which would have been a headache. Well run and well organised trip

This was the most horrific experience! I signed up with their premium Morocco 9 day tour. I paid $13,000 for the three of us, expecting to have good accommodations, and a comfortable, and safe travel experience. After I signed up on March 8, I did not hear from them at all. I contacted them on May 8 because I had not received any information and the trip was only one week away. On my first day of the trip, I checked into a hotel, which was supposedly rated five star, only to find sheets that were filled with hair and two meager towels that felt like sandpaper with yellow and brown stains all over. The phones in the room did not work nor did the safe. We then took a van to the evening dinner. The three of us were seated in the front row for 10 minutes. It was so uncomfortable and cramped with no legroom, no chargers, hard seats that did not recline. When I found out that this was the van we would be traveling for 5-9 hours/day for the remainder of the nine days, I immediately tried to contact customer support, which was supposed to be available 24/7. I called the emergency line, Global line, live chat, hotel manager, but apparently no one could do anything on the weekend. During the night, I need toilet paper and went to the hallway and the lobby to get some, only to find that the lights were all out, and the rooms were all dark.I tried to call the team leader, who apparently shuts off her phone during the night. Even though I had asked for a way to contact her, apparently no one was able to get hold of her. This was on a Saturday night and I had to make the difficult decision as to whether I was going to continue on an adventure which was unsanitary, uncomfortable, and unsafe. The three of us decided to take our losses and abort the trip. We are three physicians who had taken our valuable time to go on a trip and $8000 of airfare and we did not feel that this was going to be a good experience. I contacted Intrepid and will be requesting a full refund. I did not sign up for their budget experience because apparently premium is their highest tier. I can only wonder what the lower tier experience would be.

Best of Morocco, a really fantastic trip. It was very fascinating and surprising to discover such a variety of landscapes and cities. And, with Abdelkabir, we had an exceptional tour leader who made this trip truly unique by showing us some unexpected highlights of Moroccan history and culture, outside the regular programme. Thank you so much, Abdel!

I had an incredible cycling holiday in India. Our local guide, Bhupesh, 2 drivers and bike technician could not have been more helpful. Bhupesh was so knowledgeable, organised, helpful and friendly. He could not have looked after us any better. The holiday was very well organised, full of adventures and activities, giving us such a great insight into this amazing country. Thank you so much!
