No sales pressure, or hype

Some years ago I'd been told by an apparently qualified surveyor that Rockwool insulation in my wall's cavity had 'sagged' or settled and that it should be removed and replaced.

Daniel from Interglow came out and, with no charge, checked the original holes previously drilled plus one other he drilled himself and said that there was no evidence at all of any problems. He was happy to show me this on the screen of his borecsope and he discussed some other aspects of work I was thinking of.

No charge, no bother, pressure or sales patter. Just honest opinions and good pleasant service. A rare thing, these days.

Thank you.

I have been chasing and ringing this…

I have been chasing and ringing this company for months to repair the damage done to my walls after they came to do a loft insulation. The excuse they gave on the day was the lad is new just 2 weeks into the job. Even though their Boss came to see the damage and admitted their poor work 6 months on still waiting for the repair to happen. Very unprofessional and unreliable.

External wall insulation quote

After numerous enquiries were submitted via the website, I called to see if my enquiry had been received. I was told the person who deals with it was off, however, an appointment was booked. House was measured and we were informed a quote would be sent. A week later, no quote. I called and was told it was waiting to be approved. Three weeks down the line and a further phone call, still no quote. I was promised a call back which never happened. Disappointing for an initial enquiry and quotation. Wouldn’t trust them to carry out works.

This is ridiculous and pathetic agency…

This is ridiculous and pathetic agency assigned by councils agent Osborne for EPC. They gave consecutive 3 weeks for a day appointment and we took unpaid day offs for them and they failed to attend any of those and we lost earnings for 3 days. No one forcing them to do this job. They are highly paid by Dacorum council but their service is very very poor and disappointing.
My humble request to any council NOT TO RECRUIT THIS AGENCY EVER.

Just had Dan around for a survey

Just had Dan around for a survey. What a pleasant guy.
Our house was built in the 60’s so we fully expected to need cavity wall insulation.
Turns out we already have it but whilst he was here he also checked our loft… we had polystyrene insulation added on the underside of the roof when the roof was put back on 13 years ago but I felt we could use more insulation on the floor of the loft.
He told us not to do that! And explained how putting more insulation under the floorboards of the loft could create a situation for condensation.
Highly recommend these guys and Dan in particular as they could have made a sale, but put professional standards above it.
And he filled all his test drill holes in the outside walls with proper stuff, not that plastic sealant.

We chose Interglow for cavity wall insulation and had a terrible experience! Avoid them!

We chose Interglow for loft insulation and cavity wall insulation as part of the Green Homes Grant scheme. Initially, they looked capable of doing the job and we agreed on a date of installation.

When they came they first installed the loft insulation on which they did a decent job. However, when it came time to do the cavity wall insulation, Interglow did a disaster of a job, to put it mildly. They started by putting the insulation into the cavity of one of the walls of the house. This wall has a balanced flue gas fireplace fitted into it (which Interglow were well aware of) and soon after they started pumping the mineral wool insulation into the cavity, the insulation started coming from the fireplace into the room. The installers stopped, tried to investigate, made some photos of the cavity around the fireplace and said they will come back to us with more information. Later, Interglow concluded that they had never come across such a problem and that somewhere there is a hole from where the insulation leaks from the cavity into the fireplace. They also said that they would be able to continue the job on another day once this problem is fixed by a gas engineer.

After a couple of weeks, we decided to change Interglow as a cavity wall insulation contractor with another trader, as Interglow proved spectacularly incapable of properly communicating with us and declined to come to our house and meet with our gas engineer to discuss the problem they discovered. Fast forward a few months and time came for the new trader we chose to install the cavity wall insulation. As part of the preparation for the job, we had a fireplace fitter to fix the problem with sealing the space behind the fireplace from the rest of the cavity (the problem Interglow discovered) so we don’t have the same problem with insulation going into the fireplace. The guys removed the old fireplace and to a massive surprise, we found that the space behind the fireplace is properly sealed and that one of the holes which Interglow drilled to install the cavity wall insulation is straight into the space behind the fireplace just underneath the flue which is clearly visible from outside where they drilled (if there was and option to attach pictures to the review I would've posted a couple where the hole can be seen). So the Interglow guys pumped insulation straight into the space behind the fireplace (and not into the cavity) and from there the insulation went into the fireplace (and into the living room) from around the gas connector of the fireplace (pretty much every fireplace has a bit of space around the pipe where it is connected to the gas mains). After doing all this, Interglow said that they couldn’t understand why the insulation went into the fireplace. Actually, we were lucky that when the Interglow guys drilled behind the fireplace they didn’t make a hole into the fireplace body, as this could’ve been really dangerous. And on top of all this shambles, Interglow’s ineptitude cost us quite a lot of money, time and nerves.

The described above sounds sad and surreal but, unfortunately, this is exactly the work Interglow has delivered to us. I can't talk about the whole range of service Interglow claim they have expertise (as I said in the beginning they did not do a bad job when insulation our loft), but definitely, Interglow have zero expertise on cavity wall insulation and they don’t know what they are doing when it comes to insulating cavity walls. Also, their skills when it comes to communication with customers are no better than their skills when it comes to insulating cavity walls.

We, of course, have already contacted the organisations who have approved Interglow, or have Interglow listed as a cavity wall insulation contractor and I hope they will take appropriate actions at the earliest opportunity, so other people don’t end up in a situation like the one I described above.

So, the conclusion is to avoid Interglow if you are planning to install cavity wall insulation. There are much better contractors out there (most of them are) that can actually do the job for you.

Loft insulation.

Phoned company, guy came round and said would get me a quote. Nobody called, or text, or emailed just left me in limbo. I phoned and got an apology and stated that they would get back. Never did. I phoned again and this time another person said my quote would be by email at the end of the day, never came. I decided to try once more and emailed them, never received a response. Waste of time, would not recommend.

Didn't even show up for survey

I booked this company for a survey with a view to insulation. They did not show up or even bother to contact me. Don't waste your time, wish I hadn't.
