This portal cost my businesses so much…
This portal cost my businesses so much money, time, and stress, I don't leave bad reviews, but feel like I need to warn businesses. I knew in our on boarding that it wouldn't work as they didn't have our systems set up at launch time. When I tried to negotiate to leave, they said it wouod cost $70,000 and I would have to fly to Florida to litigate. I learned 1.5 years in from a staff memeber that they had 5 employees managing 3000 accounts.
I contacted their support service and was very impressed with the service
I contacted their support service and was very impressed. It was clear the response I received within 12 hours of logging the ticket by email was not just asking me a set of generic questions.
They asked specific questions to troubleshoot and following which I provided the requested screenshots etc.
I was impressed by how I dealt with a single person who owned this issue and kept me constantly updated throughout the process.
Best of all, the issue was resolved within a few days.
Overall, an outstanding support experience, which is very unusual in these times.
Well done Insync, I hope you give that person a pay rise (I've intentionally omitted the person's name).
Deletes everything!
Where do I start...
It is software that would be good if that had proper SDLC procedures. They constanly allow bugs to creep in. I wish I could go work for them and help sort out their issues, because they have some clever code, but even clever code is no good when you allow bad developers and techleads to make changes.
Example: in the early days Insync would use up all memory, you would watch it sync and then once synchronised you could watch the memory usage counter just go up and up (Bad development), until it has maxed out the Laptop.
I have been using Insync for years and I have monitored its flaws, and at times it has worked perfectly.
Just now June 2025 -
It appears to delete everything in your insync folder and redownloads everything. this of course fill up your recycle bin. It does not delete anything in OneDrive, but hey they are only 1 step away from making a dev mistake and everything you have is gone. Sure it might end up in Onedrive recycle bin, but how much can one drive recycle bin handle.
1 mistaken click and you have lost your lifes work.
Insync nailed desktop Drive syncing from day one
Insync is hands-down the most reliable and flexible desktop sync tool I’ve used. It gives you real control over your files, lets you customise sync paths, handles large volumes of data without falling over — and yes, it still uses the interface others have clearly taken inspiration from.
The UI is simple, intuitive, and actually built for people who care about how their files are organised and not getting cloned folders. If you're serious about keeping local and cloud storage in sync without surprises or crashes, this is the tool.
BEWARE! Russian folder appeared from nowhere!
I tried the trial version of Insync with Linux Mint. What was I thinking? One day after installing the software a folder appeared on my OneDrive called 'Документы' - 'Documents' in Russian. I immediately disconnected Insync and removed it from my PC, changed the security on OneDrive and scanned all of my folders and files for viruses. Trust this software? No I don't
4 drives and 0 issues
I use Insync for many years for my gdrive and now for Onedrive and Sharepoint on Manjaro Linux. Never had any problems so far - and that is exactly what I want from such a tool. Clear recommendation.
I have had a great experience with Insync
I have had a great experience with Insync! I run a small business and I have 2 Linux Mint based computers in a shop and at home. I use Insync to keep the computers synchronized. My design files are rather large so having the ability to keep the local copy of files prevents the delays cloud storage introduces.
It was an easy setup. I had it working within minutes!

A Never-Ending Nightmare – Stay Far Away!
I'm revisiting my one-star review for Insync after several years, and sadly, the experience hasn't improved. We mistakenly ended up paying annually for a tool we thought was historically a single lifetime subscription and must have changed at some point, and when we raised the issue, Insync canceled the subscription but refused any refund, citing their inflexible terms and conditions.
The problems don't stop there. The software itself is riddled with issues – it's buggy, prone to crashes, and just doesn't work reliably. We stopped using it years ago for these very reasons. Trying to manage the subscription was an ordeal. We couldn't find a way to log in online, and the app, which was the only potential solution, was equally dysfunctional. It's frustrating when you're paying for a service you can't even access due to their own application's flaws.
Insync's customer support essentially said, 'Sorry, our app is broken, and we can't help you. Here is a link to our terms.' This company is a complete mess. Avoid it at all costs.
Worst company I have ever worked with!!!
Worst company I have ever worked with, DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT!!! Their software did not work, members of staff continued to tell me to wait and not cancel, they were going to fix it, after months and months of waiting and continuing to ask to cancel yet attend meeting after meeting trusting them as they said they would fix the product and any bills later once everything is worked out. After the software still was not working properly from June 2022 - May 2023 (not sending prescriptions, sending scripts with the wrong tablet amounts, etc etc) They did not stand to their word and are trying to charge me for all my members of staff for this time period even though that was not what was promised. 2 providers used the system from September to march yet they are charging me for 32 employees from June 2022 to may 2023. Provided emails from their staff that said all the things they would do to fix the matter, they said a contract was signed sorry, emails wont work to make any adjustments to the bill but they will take off a month and a half of fees? Does this sound like a reputable company??
Not really good
Slow. Poor interface, too few options (no scheduling? srsly?).
It deletes files that should not be deleted, and duplicates a lot of stuff that should be merged. It messed up my gdrive archive severely, requiring a lot of elbow grease to fix things. Oh, and no refund policy.
Stay away from this.
Random file deletions
I tried to use Insync on a linux laptop, while my main laptop was out of order. Terrible experience. On the surface the features are good, but in reality Insync really struggles. Maybe it's fine if you just want to sync your own files from a single computer. But my use case is multiple computers, multiple shares, 2-3 users, hundreds of files synced daily. Insync got totally lost and couldn't keep track what to sync at times. Best case scenario was that some files weren't properly synced and I had to figure which to migrate manually via a pendrive. Worst case was random file deletions. It happened three times so far in two months when bulk of files just went to the trash across all the computers instead of being synced. Once it was the day before we had a deadline for a project and had to prepare those files to be sent to client. This was simply a heart attack inducing situation. I do not recommend Insync for mission-critical data.
Great for what I need
I've been using insync for since 2015, and still currently on the legacy Prime license. I use insync on linux mint so it can sync the whole of my google drive to local disk, which allows me to backup (encrypt) once a month to a local raid storage (mostly to possible restore some files deleted from google drive years back ... you never know).
Insync does what I need, and the integrated repo updates makes it easy to keep up to date.
While virtual memory is kind of high, but I noticed this seems to have to do with the number of files I have on my google drive. Resident memory is pretty low. Only on start up do I notice some system impact. But in normal runtime, only vary rare instance of noticeable system slowdown. (My system always had 16GB RAM since installing insync.)
Based on my personal experience of using insync, I had our company purchased insync licensing for specific accounts for headless use to sync specific folders from google drive to servers. I can't go into details why are doing this, but it solve a specific problem for us. And we have not found any problems with this use for several years now.
Overall, for the money, I think it is well worth it.
Memory Leak, downgrade the account subscription
Memory Leak, downgrade the account subscription
The application eats average 10GB of RAM? really? there is no fix from Developer and seem to be it is an unfixable bug.
I purchased their old subscription, then when they have a new subscription then they forced cut off my account purchased feature, this is fair InSync??
The backup feature is useless, when I set a folder then it never got synced even I kept it running 3 days.
Works, but buggy.
I have been using it for a few months now. The software is a good effort, but at current it is still quite buggy, and the support is slow and not always effective. The sync direction can change from 1-way to 2-way on its own and for no obvious reason, which is risky in itself. The only way to resolve this is by deleting the old sync and creating a new one. As I said, good effort, but the product and the company need to mature, both in terms of writing a more robust code, and in terms of the support response.
insync 2 was working fine.:..
insync 2 was working fine.
Insync 3 is a nightmare.
You delete something ?
It decides not to delete it. Creates a folder (2) then a folder (3) then a folder (4). Pretends it is because it did not finish to sync the previous time. Pretends it is because something change on the drive even if you only use the drive as a backup and never intervene on it. In brief, it is not even able to sync correctly when only your laptop has changes.
Very good app
Very good app. I have used it since 2019 with different Ubuntu versions. The usability is good after you familiarize with app UI logic. I have had zero issues in syncing files, or using the app, but have been really pleased with the app, as it is really filling a gap.

this piece of crap will chew them out, corrupt them and then one-day delete your entire good drive content...just because.

Files magically dissappear
I've been using InSync for many years and after investigation highly suspect that there is some type of issue with the software that causes files and folders to magically disappear. I may be wrong- I'm saying that it is a suspicion not a proven fact- and without going into detail I want to say I am fairly confident that it is an issue with InSync and that is why I am writing this review.
After uninstalling InSync I learned that I can achieve with Google Backup and Sync exactly what I achieved with InSync: the ability to have multiple Google accounts on one computer.
