Regret having used this Company!

Still waiting to hear from this dreadful Company as to whether my husband's car is insured or not!
They sent so many emails asking for "important information" - they hassled my husband while we were out of the Country for 3 weeks - in fact it was harrassment as my husband phoned them twice and sent several emails explaining that he could do nothing until his return. They still carried on with the emails asking for this information.
One chap my husband spoke to had "attitude" and bearing in mind my husband is elderly, was completely uncalled for!
They have not even had the courtesy to let us know (despite thretening with cancelling the policy or charging us an extra £45) if they have received the "important information" sent to them by email and if/or our car is covered by them!
Shame on your Company!

It’s a con, not reliable. Rip off!

This is the first time I have tried, attempted and still attempting, to make a claim in 35 yrs of driving.

We had our CAT sawn off our Honda and I phoned Hastings immediately. After 3 hrs of trying to get through and even more time messing around with a totally useless website, I was told by a man that Covea were dealing with my policy and he could not give me any of my policy info.

EVEN THOUGH MY DIRECT DEBIT AND CONTRACT ETC ONLY HAS HASTINGS ON IT.

I’ve never heard of Covea. The man gave me a number to call them as there was nothing he could do. What a joke!

2 and half weeks later I still can’t get a response from Covea. I am taking this to the Ombudsman or similar to sort this put on my behalf.

A very stressful time made a lot worse by very poor non existent service.

Please go elsewhere.pay more and go with a better company who cares… I will be cancelling our home insurance and car insurances when they come up to renewal… Useless dishonest an don’t care about the customer.

WARNING! They will attempt to charge you hundreds £££ s to change anything on yr policy.

No doubt there will be 5/5 reviews following this. Liars!

Awful experience making a claim

Awful experience. Recently tried to put through a claim, was told they had to wait for my policy to be forwarded to them…seemingly something that you could train a monkey to do, however 3 days later and the claims department haven’t received a copy of my policy. Although I have a copy myself and offered to forward on, which would take me seconds, they said they couldn’t. Was also informed once received the process could take around 10 days. So if you ever have to make a claim, be prepared as it could take 14 days and counting….

Absolutely appalled!!!!

Absolutely appalled at the way this company behaves. My husband had a renewal quote for motorbike insurance. The only way to stop it automatically renewing was to ring them, be left on hold for ages and be generally messed around. When asked why he wasn't renewing he told them he had just sold the bike. They told him he may get a refund for the few days left to run on the policy, but instead, they then sent him an e-mail saying they would be charging him an additional £45 to amend the policy! How can they ever possibly think this is acceptable behaviour? Completely slimy and underhanded. Absolutely appalled and fuming!!!!! How can they even pretend to think it's Ok to charge someone £45 to not renew an £80 a year policy. Downright theft!!!!!

Be wise!

This insurance company is good until you become its customer. They offer better prices on insurance but as soon as you need something they rip you off, sadly.
2 months after I've paid my full year insurance I've changed my car so I needed to transfer the insurance to the new car and obviously pay a difference which I expected.
What I didn't expect was that they will ask me to pay more than 1600 just to change the car in their system.
That's mad, really.
I never seen any insurance company to ask for such a fee while others ask for £15 fee to change the car.
Obviously they couldn't offer any better for me so I chose to cancel my policy and move on.
While they ask me more than 1600 fee to change the car, I did my full year insurance from scratch for £2000.

Trying to contact Hastings Car Insurance

Wished to place daughter on car policy. Telephoned. On phone hour listening to blasting tinny music. No voice to say where I was in the queue Gave up and thought I'd email. Filled in all the boxes to be told at the end they couldn't quote. Needed to speak to me. Gave me a phone number. On phone 50 minutes. No reply. Did this twice. Emailed complaint. Received email back asking for D of B. Postal code. Said they would reply in 3 days

The worst insurance of a car I have…

The worst insurance of a car I have ever had. I wish I never heard of them. Customer service is atrocious, the drive tab is a spying device and they constantly send emails and texts to tell me me my score is low. I never knew I was forced to drive my car because of a stupid point system. They should be brought to justice for harassment Of they’re customers. Do not even bother with this farce of a company. It’s like being a child again where you’re mom and dad keep asking you to do stuff you don’t want to.

The tab never works on the app, I drive, it does not record it. The online help is a joke no one ever listens. You wait 10 minutes to be logged out and you’re place in the stupid online chat has gone.

Seriously bab company in every sense. I wouldn’t trust this lot to insure a flee!

Please avoid

Please avoid! This is an awful company, they hike their prices up, make it difficult to stop renewal, are rude, and quite frankly, there are dozens of better insurance companies out their. Hastings, you are an absolute disgrace.

Can I put no stars

Can I put no stars?

The MyAccount section on website doesn’t work, the app doesn’t work, the chat service doesn’t work and finally when on hold for 20 minutes on the phone line, that went dead. Pretty worrying nothing works. I am just trying to change my address, but what if I had an accident and needed to claim? I am worried there would be no one to answer. I wonder if they’re going bankrupt. I would avoid at all costs.

Disgusting insurance policy

This won't be the first or last time an insurance company is called disgraceful but leading the way has to be HASTINGS. Cancelled car insurance was fees on fees on FEES. Worst insurance company I've ever experienced and that takes some doing.

Payments

Rang Monday to defer a payment until next month, as I was struggling to make the payment. The bloke I spoke to said he spreaded the payment over the rest of the direct debits. I thought brilliant, a weight lifted off my mind. Oh no i wake up this morning, to this bloody company still trying to take the money and leaving me in an unarranged overdraft. Fuming is not the word I would use right now. I left this Company 2 years ago, but thought I would give them another go, but wish I hadn't now.

Update: said they were going to refund just over £40 the next day, surprise surprise they haven't. Definitely would not recommend

If I could give less than 1 star I…

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I have been insured with Hastings Direct for Many Years. Last April 2020 having searched comparison sites, and finding cheaper quotes. I was advised by Hastings that It was because I’d had a claim whilst insured with them in dec 2016? Ive never made a claim? The advisor informed that In dec 2016 I had called Hastings Direct for advice as a neighbours house tile had fallen and hit the window and sill on the rear door. I was advised that making a claim would be difficult as it would be a car to house claim. So as the damage was minimal, I decided I was to pay for the repairs myself. However last year upon renewal I was told by Hastings Direct that other insurers on comparison sites would be quoting me less as I hadn’t included my previous claim in the quote! At the time I questioned it was told it couldn’t be removed, although it’s not logged as a claim it’s down as an “incident” as a tile did fall on my car, however that it would be off by by my next renewal date. A claim I have “never” made. This was the beginning of April 2020 during lockdown. They agreed to reduce my renewal quote so I just went ahead and renewed with them. This April I went with another provider who have since written to me about an undisclosed claim of the above date, a clam I have never made. I have tried numerous times to get in touch and over several occasions been on hold for hours, finally last Friday I spoke to a lady who tried on several occasions to get the right department, and said she’d send an email and someone would call me. Its now Tuesday I’ve had no call and am still on hold to them now and have been for 48 mins so far. This is awful I’ve been paying seemingly over the odds since 2016! Due to a claim on my file that doesn’t & never did, exist, i finally got through this afternoon to the claims department who said it cannot be removed, it’s their policy it’s down as a notification and that it didn’t affect my no claims bonus, which it wouldn’t have because I didn’t make a claim! I have over 9yrs no claims bonus. So, I need to now write to the complaints department. After being given the email I needed to send it to, half way through her giving me the reference number to quote the phone surprisingly cut off! FUMING! If anyone reading this can help me get this A claim I have “never” made.if anyone resting this can help me at all to resolve this it would be much appreciated

Policy unavailable and zero support - can't claim anything!

The site where the policy is stored is unaccessible. It was broken when I subscribed (what a bad start!), i got access briefly when I tried again a month later to check something. But MyAccount has been unavailable for 2-3 days this week, therefore phonelines are beyond busy and it can take days to reach someone (and be prepared to be on hold for 1h before you speak to someone, who does not know what is wrong with the site but confirms it has been down for days, does not have the number to forward you to easily accessible, etc.) My call was eventually redirected to a notification team 5-10min later.
Without access to the policy, you cannot know that you have 48hrs to make a claim. I am absolutely gutted I missed the "legal deadline to make my claim". Poor poor service, and will not renew because of how they treated my query in the current context!

Rude Call Centre - Cancelled Policy

Premium went up by a lot. Rang to cancel as price comparison was beat by £100. Left holding while the lady checked if she could match it for £20. Came back telling me they'd match near that price but that I had got the price wrong. Actually the advisor had, I told her 4 times the amount and she continued to add different amounts.
Asked her to cancel because the 20 minutes then snide comment about my maths had irritated me and they still weren't cheaper.
She processed to say, 'and I highly doubt you will have as good a policy elsewhere'. When I pulled her up on her attitude and how she represented the brand she back pedalled but the damage was done.
I'd potentially pay slightly more but A, look after the loyal customers don't make us jump through hoops for a fair price and say that the market varies over a 30 day period because that's Bs & B, sort the staff attitude out. I won't pay more and be disrespected. Customer services will cost business.

No respect for existing customers

Two years no claims, annual policy still goes UP by over £50 - and when I call to say I've found a much cheaper price elsewhere, they miraculously find they can match it. Outrageous. They should offer existing customers their best price, I shouldn't have to 'fake leave' in order to get their best offer. Really shoddy behaviour and even though Hastings undercut the other offer, I still left. Passive aggressive customer services too. Avoid.
