I needed a course to help me with understanding my slr better. I have some photography skills already however doing this course helped me understand the meaning of aperture, selecting the right shutter speed, and all the terminology on my slr that I didn't understand. I am so pleased to have completed this course as it has now given me the confidence to take more photos and experiment too. I enjoyed the fact I could study at my own pace and revisit the modules when I needed to. Thank you so much IOP

Loved taking the Diploma in Photography Course. I was able to work at my own pace and schedule. There was no pressure to complete it within any specific time. It was clear, informative and easy to follow. Plenty of opportunities to be involved in forums, further chats and contact with Tutor if and when required. Content updates were frequent also which keeps the course fresh and up to date. Access to content can be accessed post completion too which is great for a refresher if needed.

I would reccommend learning with The Institute of Photography. I had no prior photography skills but feel I have learnt so much from my Diploma In Photography course. The tutors are very friendly and helpful, no question is a 'silly question'.

If you are thinking about taking a course but a bit nervous, take the plunge, the reward of passing is great :)

I highly recommend the Institute of Photography courses, I've taken various courses, an dam in the final stages of the Advanced Diploma in Wedding Photography. The courses are well designed, crafted and lead you through all that you would need to learn. The tutor feedback is amazing for the ADWP - not just a few words - my tutor has shown interest in my submissions, where I can improve and pointing out the good too.

All courses are easy to complete online and at a speed you choose. Thank you to the IOP for giving me so much courage to pursue my career.

I'd highly recommend the photography course to anyone, the range of information is very broad. It covers all the basics, to image editing, the video tutorials were extremely helpful, and even a module on how to embark on a career in photography.

This course is one of the best courses I have ever taken and it goes into the right amount of detail to be informative without losing you in jargon
Great work IOP.

After being a self-taught amateur photographer for years, I took this course and found it really good. It helped me not only consolidate and formalise what I already (sort-of) knew, but also pick up a lot (really, A LOT) of fundamental new tricks along the way. It is very well put together, an engaging syllabus with clear wording that is easy to understand and, most importantly, apply in the field. Would recommend it as a starter to anyone looking to get to grips with the basics, and I look forward to having a go at one of the more advanced courses myself.

The course is well presented and well organised, I have recommended it to friends who are now sitting the course. The course is designed to make yo get out there and work for your achievements.
I myself have been doing photography as a hobby for a numerous amount of years now and this course has brought me on leaps and bounds.

This was a great course, it gives an insight to those things you really need to know if you want to take better photos. I enjoyed it very much it did not overwhelm, yet in depth an technical enough to get the ideas across. I have a feeling I will be taking further courses with IOP.

I am very pleased with my experience on the Advanced Diploma of photography course. It has lots of up to date learning material,great tutor support and encouragement. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is interested in photography.

This course breaks each area into separate modules so you are not overloaded. After each module there are questions for you to answer which test that particular subject and a practice assignment to put the teaching into use. The resulting photos can then be put on a forum where other students can discuss what is good and what can be improved.
I have learnt so much from this course and feel I have the knowledge and tools to get better.
The other great thing about this course is that once finished you can still access everything, so you can remind yourself. Also, you can continue to add photos to the forums.
I definitely recommend this course to budding photographers.

Honestly recommend this course, very good and comprehensive structure, various topis with detailed explanation and very convenient in timing if you are busy. Online option gives full flexibility.

I have learnt new skills and tips on photography, some habits that I had taught myself and didn't realise I was doing certain things wrong until this course clarified them for me. I think this course is a must for any budding self-taught photographer that want to take their hobby further - A great intro into the vast world of Photography!

I enjoyed the course, plenty of information for those with some knowledge and a goldmine for those those with no knowledge. Very clear and concise.

At the end of the course you really can start your own business!

This is an ideal course for the beginner, and enthusiast looking to refresh the old memory. I found it extremely useful and has reminded me of some techniques I should be using.

I have found this to be such a wonderful experience-learning a skill behind my hobby, I have been able to juggle being a busy mum of two under 5s and working part time whilst learning this craft. It's given me confidence to start working in an area that I love. The course was well written and the leaders and forums were on hand to provide answers to your questions and give you feedback. Thank you for creating such a fabulous learning environment and giving me enough academic information to start my practical experience in photography!

I have just completed the IOP Diploma in Photography. As a keen novice, I found that the information was well presented and structured. The improvements are self evident when you review your work. You are free to complete the course at your own pace. I took my time and once a module was completed, I went out to put the information into practice. The chat rooms are also a good way to speak to likeminded people.

Tutorials were easy to understand. I am a photographic enthusiast and found the tables, sunny 16 rule and digital editing chapters particularly interesting and useful. Tests were straight forward - I found the notes I took as I worked through the tutorials helpful to refer back to. Some of the assignments are really good but would like to see some of these as a compulsory element. They aren't in this module so you can choose to do them. Overall, enjoyed the course, I learnt a number of new techniques which I am keen to try out!
