Appalling design

Appalling design, quality of product and scam high rate phone calls to help center. They deliberately 'forget' you details etc to encourage you to ring back at premium rates and never reply to emails - avoid like the plague!

2 weeks waiting for customer service after finding faults

Having bought a toilet from "Ideal Standard" I found several manufacturing faults that rendered the toilet unusable.
I contacted customer service immediately but could only get an automated response which promised a prompt reply. I contacted them every day for 2 weeks before returning the toilet to the retailer for a full refund and buying a replacement from a more reputable manufacturer.
I would advise everyone to forget the old reputation of this firm, the quality has gone and the standard far from ideal.

Where do I start....

Where do I start! We had our bathroom refitted with a Tesi suite in 2018, to our amazement a split appeared in the corner of the bath, the silicone mould was smaller than the fibreglass underneath and hence the issue. I started a case with IS. To begin with I sent in photos of the issue and they agreed to replace the bath FOC and to pay mostly for the extra work required to swap it out. That's when things started to go wrong. If you call the customer service line it tells you to email, since this whole saga has started, I have never once had a reply to any email I have sent to them. They are such a difficult company to deal with. Eventually after so many phone calls I did receive a replacement bath (1 positive). The work was carried out that same week by the tradesmen and thankfully a great job was done. Now onto the poor bloke getting payed for his trouble. I have communcation emails from IS saying they will pay for the work, another positive, but he has not seen any payment as yet, I am told it takes them 30 days from receipt of invoice to payment - why? When it is a simple BACS transfer which can be done in seconds? Furthermore, I have been told so many different versions of what their policies are when I speak to different staff it just leaves my head spinning. The latest excuses are because of the current covid climate.... The company is still operating. I will never purchase an Ideal Standard product again OR Armitage Shanks as that is also their product now. Its such a shame when a once pioneering product and reputation of greatness is dragged down by such incompetence. Especially when it's all so easily rectifable. Terrible shame!

TESI BTW Aquablade: not recommended

The exterior is sleek. The shape of the interior, the water reservoir depth and the narrowness of the sump are not conventional. On the inside of the pan, it's narrow and the back too convex. The curvature means inevitable adhesion of waste to the pan, and more water is needed to flush away and dislodge residue marks. No doubt residue sticking to the toilet pan has health implications.
The water level in the sump is so low that I thought it was faulty at first until after contacting Ideal Standard who confirmed its design is as standard. This for me is a major disappointment. It's very unusual to use a toilet with a very low water level in the bowl; I don't know how it benefits or improves the performance of the toilet in any way. The sump is too narrow and often leads to blockages. The D-shaped soft close toilet seat is comfortable.
If you like your toilet bowl with approximately 60 mm of water depth and a narrow sump, then this toilet is for you. The bowl is designed badly leading to odorous waste always sticking to the bowl surface. I'm disappointed in the Tesi BTW Aquablade model and cannot recommend this toilet.

Aquablade Toilet Could be Better at Cleaning

We replaced our inefficient toilet with an Ideal Standard Aquablade close-coupled E8229 toilet. It is a significant improvement on the old one and works pretty well. However, the publicity says that the toilet brush will be a thing of the past because of its cleaning ability. Nor quite true. Unfortunately, glossy brochures are reluctant to talk directly about whether a toilet actually shifts poo effectively. This one does seem to do that, but it doesn't always clean all the poo marks off, especially just above the water line. It's certainly quieter, and refills the cistern quite quickly. We've only had it a few weeks, so its long-term performance is not known.

Very poor customer service

Bought a Playa toilet seat for over £50. They do not provide a spanner to tighten the toilet seat and neither do the instruction tell you which size you need. I contacted them and was told I needed an 8 mm spanner, they were wrong, it didn't fit now having to get a smaller size. Emailed customer service to express my disappointment, still have not heard back and I don't think I will. Unfortunately customer service is very poor.

I definitely do not recommend

I definitely do not recommend the Ideal Standard tesi aquablade wc as all you get is a slow leakage. I believe the rimless technology in this product is a problem as it is not fully developed. The customer service is not interested, and the warranty thing is an illusion. Lesson learned the hard (expensive) way.

Ideal Standard (Sottini) sub standard Toilet and Seat

After 18 months of use with our new Sottini (Ideal Standard) wall hung toilet and seat, the toilet seat cracked. The cause was due to stress, as the toilet seat does not sit correctly with the bowl. The gap between seat and bowel is excessive and flexes from each use. The fitted buffers were no use at all. Eventually the seat cracked and had to be replaced. The cost is not cheap. Have informed Ideal Standard of the problem, sending full details of the problem including photographs. No response has been provided even though they have said they would. The replacement seat then developed a fault with the hinge after a few months. Its now cheaper to replace the whole thing with a more reliable make.

Awful customer service

Brand new toilet overflowing after 3 months due to faulty part so had to get plumber out. Customer services just awful, defensive and rude and will do anything to get out of honouring their warranty. After 3 calls to them and no response after emailing them documentation requested I have given up and am out of pocket. Buyer beware!

The bath in my house has developed a…

The bath in my house has developed a stain that looks like the shine of the acrylic failed. Only used non abrasive products such as Method to clean it. Clearly poor quality. It has also developed a leak at the bottom of the plughole. Would advise anyone not to buy their substandard products. I shall replace with Duravit or Vileroy and Boch. Products i have had in the past that i know I can rely on for years to come. There is a reason their products are cheap. They fail and do not last. Overall they will cost you more money in the long run.

Another damaged IDEAL STANDARD Product

Plumber found stress crack in Tempo WC, 2nd faulty product in a week. Pointless claiming from this toxic company as reply will be impact damage and not covered. It is worth reading review of company on another review site of businesses. It explains why management do not care. On Trustpilot over 80% vote them below average and 65+% give them the lowest possible score. These statistics clearly are a warning to any purchaser.

Yet another example of Ideal Standard useless lifetime guarantee.

Purchased a sink and pedestal from outlet. Stored in spare room and kept in original plastic packing until required. When plumber removed plastic packing he noticed a stress crack in outlet both inside and out. He remarked there was no chipping. Sent photographs to Ideal Standard. They did not reply by email as stated. I 'phoned and was told damage was caused by impact. This would not have been possible as the tight plastic film around the area was intact. Any impact would have damaged this first. I eventually spoke to a supervisor who claimed I was just trying to get money. Many reviews on Trustpilot indicate this is a common experience. Please be aware if your product arrives damaged do not expect any help. I notice some reviews mention more reliable companies.

Sub standard

I bought a raised height Ideal Standard Concept pan in late September from our local plumbase outlet. It was delivered with only a simple covering of polythene for protection. In less than a month cracking developed along the front top through to the inside, although nothing was apparent on delivery or installation by a local plumbers firm. The pan was carefully protected in my home – it cost over £450 so I was extremely careful with it. Ideal standard wanted photos of the damage and I duly obliged.

In contrast to the almost laughable protection by Ideal Standard, I also bought a pan (RAK) for my shower room. It was delivered in a sturdy cardboard box with the pan protected internally by tough plastic air pocket padding. Such a contrast to a simple sheet of polythene which would only protect from scratching, at best, but would provide zero protection against physical knocks in transit or warehousing.

Ultimately, Ideal Standard claimed no defect and that they had no responsibility under the life time guarantee. It’s completely wrong as the pan did not suffer any damage whatsoever in my home. The damage was substantial and there is nothing in my home that could cause such damage. I believe that damage was most likely incurred either in transit or storage, resulting in a latent defect which became manifest following a brief period of use.

It seems to me that the warranty is worthless-the manufacturer can simply deny any defect and blame the owner and as they are both judge and jury, the customer is left with the loss and nowhere to go - £450 in my case.

I will, of course, avoid any Ideal Standard product in future and advise family and friends to do likewise. The lifetime guarantee did influence my purchase because I believed it demonstrated confidence in the durability and quality of the product. How wrong I was, to my cost.

Not happy with our latest loo seat

Not happy with our latest loo seat - it's gone a horrible yellow colour!
Ideal Standard said it's due to using bleech and leaving the loo seat down but this hasn't happened to our other Ideal Standard loo seat which is the same model and we've had that one for over 6 six years!
I've also seen reviews from other people saying the same thin as happened to their loo seat.
We've also had to replace the soft close mechanism on this newer seat too (which we've not had to do on our older loo seat) so I think that Ideal Standard must have changed the materials or the way they make these soft closing loo seats as this lastest one is by far inferior to the other we we have. Ideal Standard will not replace the loo seat either as its out of warranty.

I wouldn't recommend buying any loo seats from them and we certainly won't be in the future.

ideal Standard Tesi Toilets

We’ve just refurbished two en-suites with the IS Tesi range. In one we selected a back to wall, close coupled, concealed cistern. The design of the toilet has a protruding rear that on using takes for ever to clean as this pushes the outlet too far forward. We are now at the maximum 6 litre flush and it takes at least 5 flushes, plus toilet brush to clean it. This is contrary to their advertising video on the acqua blade technology that promotes efficiency. IS comment when asked for help “our toilets are not self cleaning”!!!
The toilet cistern water outlet into the toilet also leaked and the connection had to be upgraded.
The sink and bidet are fine.
In the other en-suite I bought a close coupled toilet, no concealed or back to wall system. This cleans much better, due to a more standard designed toilet bowl, only two flushes. However, the system from the close coupled cistern leaks, we think from the doughnut and water continues to run into the bowl for a while after refilling. The toilet seat won’t lock, as one of the holes is elongated preventing the locking mechanism from filling the hole tightly.
Initially I left good reviews on VictoriaPlum’s website and since now using the systems have asked to change my reviews so other customers won’t make the same mistake. The problem is that so far they have refused.
Some after sales or customer care people in IS are well intentioned, some just seem arrogant as per the person who said that their toilets “aren’t self cleaning”.
To pay this amount of money for perceived quality is ridiculous.
I would not recommend buying any of the Tesi range of toilets as the two different types have developed different faults that are frustrating.
As per other comments I haven’t continued to persue any solutions with IS as it seems to be a waste of time.

Connect Angle Bath Screen T9923EO

Good quality materials used but unfortunately a very poor design. There is a small gap between the edge of the door seal and the upright hinge from which water leaks in some situations. IS will say this is common to most types of bath screen and this area is not designed to take a direct spray. Rubbish I say --this is a shower and should be designed to seal under all likely positions of the shower head.
Also the door is not wide enough to stop some water spilling over the bath edge at the door end (in spite of being very careful to avoid water hitting the door in this area).
I would definitely not buy this or any other bath screen with these flaws.

Ideal Standard Concept Air

Just completed a house build and used Ideal Standard Concept Air products in a bathroom, shower room and en suite and I’ve had issues with every product.
Basins seemed ok but the template was too big and there were gaps at the corners and back edge. I originally asked for a company rep to visit but they said that was not possible. Issue went on for weeks and weeks and I eventually dumped the countertops made my own templates and fitted the basins. Weeks later they said they could send a rep. Too late of course as there was nothing to see.
Next the Ideal Plus Concept shower bath was not straight along the long wall edge. Had to send in pictures to the company and another acceptable bath was sent.
Same with one of the btw toilet pans. This was also replaced with a new one which strangely is different inside the bowl from the original ones. It also performs/cleans better than the original ones. I was informed they could have been made in different countries? Looks to me as if the Mark 1 model has been superseded with a new model and unfortunately I have two of the older style. Ideal Standard have just stated that they meet the EN Standard and that’s it. They failed to respond to my last email and I’m not going to pursue this any more.
This is a company that relies on its perceived good name but If I ever build another house I would not use Ideal Standard which is a shame because I genuinely like the look of the Concept Air products.

Poor Quality

I bought a house in 2012 with Ideal Standard toilets. All three have had internal parts break and now a toilet seat has split. Due to the style and fitting I must buy an Ideal Standard seat at a cost of up to £85 !!! Truly amazing !!! A poor product which is over priced.
