I believe ICQ could become again one outstanding communication and fun program

About an hour ago I didn't remember my password, even the login name I couldn't recall.
I did a search on a backup hard drive where I have 'things' since the Internet was not so Internet yet and I got a password for it but no login name. Then came to my mind my account number, probably because it ends with 911 and at the time of the Twin Towers attack I was still using ICQ.

It is true one could forget the sign in items - like me who used the software since the late 1996. But it is also true, one should refrain from giving negative rating on something due to, just that, their own fault. Passwords are private needed codes for something we need to access.

Well, if you can remember your ICQ code use it for the login - that could be in place of your login name / or nickname. Regarding password do a text search for the files you used at the time you think you wrote in it. Or search in the attic or basement. Ask your old chat mates for your login name. Feel free to brainstorm, if you can. Or, for the pass have try to remember words you believe people don't call you, like "YouAreAnAsshole" <- those are the best passwords; no one uses them even if they are so obvious.

You don't even need to install the program for trying your login/password; use https icq.im / ###### - your old acc number there (or nickname), or https web.icq.com

Regarding the .exe that can't be deleted because is Russian, use Google translate for 'delete' in than language and click on it: D (that was a joke. Both)

After loggin in, expect to build your new community of people because your old contacts are probably gone.
Have a good chat! ... and don't rate yourself so badly :)

Ps.: I miss the original interface though - It's too late here and I didn't really add someone to test it but I expect to hear the same funny sounds ICQ used to have.

ICQ.EXE itself will NOT delete.

Installed the program, couldn't remember my old password or and email ISP is long gone. Uninstalled ICQ (or so I thought) but after reboot, ICQ remained installed and the ICQ.EXE itself will NOT delete.
Also ICQ is downloaded from a russian domain. Now i have to see how I can get rid of it :-(

Customer service is ignoring you

I have changed computer and E-mail. And as my account is old none of the extra security questions like phone number ect. was necessary back then.
I have tried to contact customer service for over 6 month now and suggested they call me to verify and other things like that.
They just answer "we can´t help". and every mail after that has been ignored.
I have to give 1 star otherwise I wouldn´t have given them any stars at all!!!!

I still use icq messenger from time to time, although I don't use this way of communication anymore. But icq remained the best program of this type for me, leaving far behind msn messenger and other similar programs. Cute and has its own spirit. Recommended.
