Re: Hudson Reed Apex Hinged Shower Door 760mm Wide - 8mm Glass
Purchase date: 15 Sep 2025 from Heat&Plumb (Order No. 1243224) Complete set of Pivot Door, Side Panel, Shoeer Tray and Waste. Price Details : Total : £520.25
Review:
Potential buyers should be aware of Hudson Reed's official stance on their shower enclosures, as revealed through a dispute with a seller.
After a professionally installed Hudson Reed pivot shower door leaked significantly, their technical department confirmed the installation was correct. However, they informed the seller that their shower doors are "not guaranteed to be water proof" and refused to acknowledge it as a fault.
This is not an issue with a specific unit, but an apparent design philosophy. A shower door that is not designed to contain water during normal use is fundamentally not fit for purpose.
I strongly caution anyone to reconsider purchasing a Hudson Reed shower enclosure. If you proceed, do so with the understanding that the manufacturer does not stand behind the core function of the product and will not support you if it fails.
I have been asked to provide my names, order number and contact details a few days now but no response so far. Hence this following up revised version.
Edited after reading HR's reply (my response to HR's reply)
"Thank you for your response.
To clarify for potential customers, the 'solution' offered was a final refusal. Your technical department, via the retailer, stated two key things:
The Shower Door: You officially declared it is 'a deflector and not a fully waterproof barrier' and 'can never be fully water tight.'
The Fixed Panel: You explicitly contrasted this with the fixed side panel, which you confirmed 'will [be water tight].'
This is a clear admission that the product is not designed to be fully functional. You are selling a shower enclosure where the door—a critical component—is not intended to contain water.
The only 'solutions' offered were for me to try to 'pull the seal down' or personally source a 'larger seal.' After spending over £520, this is unacceptable.
This review stands as a warning: Hudson Reed officially states that their shower doors are not designed to be waterproof."
Kind regards,

Two year old HR shower has stopped flowing. Quick response from HR saying that we need a new valve if recalibration didn’t work , but this part isn’t under the 20 year guarantee.
We replied to HR after plumber had recalibrated but no further response from them. I had to replace the valve at my own expense. The shower has only been used a couple of time a week by myself when i don't go to the gym. They said it could be caused by hard water .. but I live in Devon! - The support people just cut and paste responses - they even sent me the warranty document that said the cartridge isn't covered - this seems very mean spirited given the very very light use in just 2 years and our soft water supply. Reading some of the other negative reviews, this isn't an isolated occurrence. Very tight response given the initial cost and projected 'quality'
Do not be fooled by their 20 year warranty... update - see their following cut and paste response- shocking that they plaster 20 year warranty over the advertising ! The majority of reviews are 1 star - if you filter these, the theme is very clear. AVOID!!!

I needed to track down a spare part for a customer who purchased a shower screen 3 years ago. I was expecting this would be the usual headache it can often be with some suppliers but Millie was a star and took all the difficulty out of it for me. Working with others in the spares dept. (thank you, too!) Millie was quick, efficient and communicated throughout to help me. Brilliant!

The valve is not reaching the temperature. This is a known problem but Hudson and Reed will just try to fob you off.

Amazing service, bought a toilet frame that our plumber installed but managed to damage the flush plate rods! Contacted customer service who managed to find spares and post them out. 😀

I’ve always been a fan of Hudson Reed. Historically, their products have been great quality and I love the ‘hallmarking’ with the HR, which to me always illustrates they have trust in their products.
So, as a disabled person having to replace two baths with showers, I did a LOT of research on the best quality we could afford. After chatting with Hudson Reed’s sales staff, two suppliers and our plumber, I bought two Indus twin valve showers with a 15 year warranty on each. I thought we were safe from future plumbing bills!
After not quite four years, the first one - installed August/Sept 2021 - has failed to heat up, so our plumber diagnosed the thermostatic valve and advised we contact HR given the warranty.
I contacted HR customer services & was told the warranty ‘applied against manufacturing defects only, moving parts including handles and cartridges, which are affected by things out side of our control, are only covered by a 12 month warranty’.
Honestly, I feel duped. Manufacturing defects will most likely come to light at the start, not after 15 years, and given the guarantee excludes every moving part/handle etc. it renders it effectively worthless. Dishonest advertising of guarantee cover and falling back on ‘small print’ should be illegal, but sadly this is the game HR play.
I’m SO disappointed, I can’t tell you. I thought I’d found a brand I could rely on and advocate for with friends doing their bathrooms. That’s definitely not the case now.
If this shower is not repairable, then I’ll be buying a replacement elsewhere. I hope other customers read these reviews before parting with their cash! :(
PS. I’ve just heard HR don’t hallmark any more either. Read into that what you will.

We had to replace a bath mixer tap that we bought a few years ago. When it arrived we thought it was a knock off because it is not branded, unlike the original (neither is the paperwork) and the shower head in particular is really poor quality in comparison to the original. Furthermore, the code on the heat and plumb order said HR, it was blank on the one we received . I’ve been assured that it is real by Heat and Plumb, and that Hudson Reed don’t hallmark anymore - if that’s correct, it’s disappointing from a company that you expect better quality from.

Very happy with the after-sales service. I had an order, with a query, it was handled proactively and efficiently, showing a lot of empathy for the query and a willingness to handle it quickly.
They definitely have a repeat customer with us! I can recommend.

Can't praise Hudson Reed (HR) customer service enough, Georgina was excellent, really efficient. HR kept their guarantee promise, I raised an issue on 2 April, resolved the same day and new tap delivered 3 April. Excellent all round.
Am highly impressed with this company, especially Elliott. Professional and efficient, no quibbles replacements sent and received quickly.
Thank you!!

I ordered a bathtub in January because the stated delivery time was 15 days. We are currently doing construction work on the apartment, and now, two months later, we still haven't received the bathtub. Everything is on standby because of this delay, and we are losing thousands as a result!
Our workers cannot wait, and we need to complete the project. While your team is responding to emails, no actual progress is being made. The delivery companies have NEVER contacted us. However, Hudson Reed was able to call us after we sent an email, so how does it make sense that they didn't have the correct number?
This situation is unacceptable, and we need a resolution immediately.

I needed some spares for a Hudson Reed mixer tap. I received an immediate response to my email from Gina and she provided a superb service, including sending me a couple of grub screws for the tap at zero cost. She couldn't have been more helpful and is a real credit to Hudson Reed.

Trying to source a thermostat cartridge for my floor standing bath tap, wished i'd contacted Hudson Reed in the first place. Two emails and I had the part reference and where to purchase from.
Brilliant service well done to all involved

On building our new home 5 years ago we purchased a Hudson Reed “Grace” wall hung toilet along with the sink to match for a small toilet that gets little use. The toilet itself was £399.94, and the sink £319.94. They have increased to £419.94 & £379.95 respectively. For our other six en-suite bathrooms we have other toilets and washbasins from reputable manufacturers.
This past week I noticed that the front end of the slimline toilet seat lid was curling up, which is not as illustrated. On contacting Hudson Reed direct I was told to produce an invoice to confirm my purchase. Victorian Plumbing were very efficient and emailed the invoice straight away. I sent this directly to Hudson Reed and was informed that due to my purchase being over the 5 years, I would have to purchase a seat from a bathroom supplier. To which this seat would cost £232+. Now, my feelings are a toilet lid should last longer than 5 years especially at a price of £400 for a toilet that is only used periodically. I would suggest whoever is thinking of purchasing this product, you stop and think twice as to whether you want to buy another toilet seat and lid at considerable expense after only a few years. I don’t recommend this product at all and would definitely NOT buy anything of Hudson Reed again.

Hi
Purchased a Hudson Luna reed wall hung toilet with soft close seat August 2023 17 months on it does not stay up and no longer fits the toilet,I contacted customer service about it sent photos and a video showing the seat not staying up and the reply was that it was forced down (only 2 adults in the house) and been advised to buy a new one at the cost of £69.99 I am sorry but I expect a toilet set that cost that amount of money to last me a life time not 17 months no explanation about why it doesn't fit my toilet anymore .
Disgusted with the way it was dealt with and I will be advising people not to buy from Hudson Reed as their after care and customer service are a lot to be desired

Our shower stopped working only 2 years since being fitted.
Contacted customer services & was told to try recalibrate & steps to follow despite the plumber already saying needing new cartridge.
Paid another visit for the plumber to tell us again that it needs a new cartridge.
Back and forth with customer service only to be told that the spare parts and cartridge are not under warranty even tho advertising 20 year warranty…what use is the shower without the cartridge? It will not turn on at all.
Apparently spare parts are only guaranteed for 12 months.
Dishonest advertising of warranty and surely new shower should last more than 22 months 🙄
Now 4 weeks without a shower & ordered/paid for spare part myself off Amazon.
If this does not work will need to replace the whole thing including tiles.
Would not recommend.
