Our System needed a replacement fan. HRV used some quite honestly deceptive language to try to tell us that was not possible and the only solution was a $2,500 replacement. This included tell... See more

Not entirely the system they make out …

Not entirely the system they make it out to be, will give an extra star as it did help with condensation. We were sold heating/consistent temp benefits due to the consistent air movement, however this is not the case. eg when it is hot outside the house is warm anyway and you want it to cool but obviously that doesn't happen because the ceiling space is hot, and vice versa in the winter time. Has only increased our power bill for very little return on investment.
The installers also unprofessional, removed bats to install and didnt replace them, adding to heating bill in the winter.

BE AWARE

BE AWARE
The HRV system works on a simple principle which is effective. If you want this plus: tardiness, to be ignored, spoken to in a derogatory manner, a company whose own service report means nothing to them and over-priced service repairs consider HRV! (Auckland NZ)

Organised for a serviceperson to replace the filter at a cost of $230 even though I could purchase through other channels. I did this to "ensure" if there were any issues I theoretically had recourse.

FIRST serviceman was timely, friendly replaced the filter and completed a service report which included, *Checked HRV fan unit*..ticked. He removed the unit from the rafters and placed on the ceiling joists.
He did mention it was an older unit but was running fine.
Based on his performance I prematurely gave HRV a 10 on their feedback and received an email from Darron Lyndsay of HRV encouraging me to place feedback on Google.
A day and a bit after the service a noise was audible from the outlets and I emailed Darron Lyndsay with my concern wondering if maybe the ducting was hitting rafters?..no reply so after a week or so waiting called HRV.

As I work shifts starting at 0400, organised for serviceperson for 1400 Mon 16th Aug and marked on calender whilst on the phone.. Initially HRV was going to charge another $70 callout.
At 1445 TUES 17th, I phoned asking whereabouts of the serviceperson.. Was told it had been put down for 1400 17th. Even allowing if I was wrong, still 45mins late. The operator advised me she would call the serviceperson and call me back..She called me back saying the phone was going directly to answerphone and would call his manager and again return my call.NO callback.
At 1600 the serviceperson arrived, stood under the outlet, listened and pronounced, "it is an old unit, I see it all the time. You need a new one".. I stated that it was running fine before the service and it seemed a big co-incidence that it is needing repair just after a service.
His reply was, "YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL BLAMING US."
I told him of the unit been placed on the joists and it could be possible that it unbalanced the shaft.. He went up into the loft, advised the "prop" was broken and it would cost to repair $1799 less the $230!
I enquired about costing as it had JUST been serviced. He wanted to see the service report to see if there was any mention about a problem with the fan.. seeing that the report had been passed, shrugged his shoulders and said "huh.. but the unit is old so that is the cost".

Unhappy with the conversation, I emailed Darron Lyndsay again with these details asking for breakdown of costs/labour etc and based on the circumstances if he could look at the pricing...So far 5 days and no reply!
Meanwhile I have an inoperational unit..
I have worked comissioning equipment to hotels and industrial laundrys.. 200kg washers and dryers..so am familiar with pumps, motors, fans..
Will update this IF I ever get a response.

We have a ducted heat pump and HRV…

We have a ducted heat pump and HRV system and the HRV filter needed changed for the second time. Both systems have operated for years without issue but this time heat pump ducting was damaged resulting in horrendous power bill for heating the ceiling cavity due to poor serviceman behaviour. First service pulled ducting slip joints and said nothing. That resulted in the HRV going into fault and the second serviceman telling me about the issue but suggesting I run the heat pump less often rather than offering a heat pump service and fixing the damaged ducting. Customer service far from ideal with HRV still trying to discover what occurred….not impressed at all as left without functioning HRV for weeks, a massive power bill and now a non functioning heat pump in the middle of winter. Both worked without issue before the filter was changed…
