House of Colour Reviews 

My daughter and I used Greater Manchester based Emma Taylor from House of Colour firstly for colour analysis and then we decided to rebook for wardrobe reviews.
Emma was incredibly patient going through different colour swatches to ensure we both understood what worked best for us.
The make up application was illuminating and top marks for hygiene practices.
Our second session of wardrobe reviews was super helpful and we have both been confidently selling what doesn’t work for us on Vinted since then with a view to buying key pieces going forward.
I have received a few unexpected compliments on outfits since these sessions which is nice.
Obviously each consultant will be different but we felt with Emma this was money very well spent.

House of Colour individual make-up palettes/containers have not changed in terms of their packaging for years! Every time I use any blusher or eye shadow compact containers, they are so hard to open that I nearly always break a freshly manicured nail. This is extremely annoying when you have just come back from the nail bar and had your nails done! Why on earth can't you change the packaging to enable ease of access and opening of some of your make-up products? I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years and have never complained. I have just purchased new, individual eye shadow containers and yet again broken a newly painted and gelled nail. I am very dissatisfied and will look elsewhere for similar colours with another brand.

This review is for Ann Orton, the HoC stylist and consultant at Blackheath and Lee.

Let me preface this by complimenting the studio space in which I sat for my consultation: oodles of natural light and frolicking squirrels, it really was a dream. Next, the most delicious coffee and because I had not eaten anything, a cheese scone - not normally part of the service but homemade, warm and glorious.

Now to the service itself. It was immediately apparent that I was in the hands of a master. Ann was patient and thorough, telling me not only what she was doing but showing me step by step how she arrived at my season. Each time she placed the right colours on me, I all but popped out of the mirror like some HD image. It was magical. Ann was genuinely thrilled each time I 'popped'! I am a 'Sultry Winter' and walked out with a renewed confidence in my own appearance which I have sadly been neglecting lately. I am currently overhauling my wardrobe - even though she told me to do so piecemeal. I am just so excited because I look amazing and most importantly, alive.

I've just got to fight the sudden urge for world domination. My confidence is sky high!

I paid over $300 for a House of Colour analysis, and it turned out to be completely inaccurate. They labeled me a Winter, even though I have fair, cool-toned skin, blonde hair, green eyes, and very low contrast - a combination that most color analysts agree cannot fall into the Winter category. I trusted their expertise, updated my wardrobe, and kept wondering why the colors felt harsh and overpowering on me.

I eventually sought a second professional opinion (outside of House of Colour), and was correctly identified as a True Summer. When I reached out to House of Colour about the mislabeling, they refused to acknowledge the mistake, refused to let me purchase a replacement fan in the correct palette, and offered zero resolution or accountability. Their customer service was dismissive and unhelpful, essentially telling me to go back to the same stylist who got it wrong the first time.

For such an expensive service, the lack of accuracy and support is unacceptable. I would absolutely not recommend House of Colour. There are many other color analysts and companies who are far more reliable, thorough, and willing to stand behind their work.

Ann Orton (based in Lewisham and Blackheath) has a great eye for colour and I was particularly struck by how she was able to differentiate between shades that are very close to each other, such as powder pink and ice pink, and judge which one worked best with my skin tone to make me look more radiant. She is warm and positive and made me feel at home, while always having the highest professional standards. I came away from the session not only knowing that I’m a Summer, and full of ideas for new colours to try out that I would previously have avoided, but also feeling better about myself and my ability to make good style choices. I loved having my colours done by Ann and I thoroughly recommend anyone who is considering it to book with her.

After visiting a so-called colorist specialist this past Friday from House of Colour was a huge disappointment. My natural tones were not recognized as the indicator as they should be but was the opinion of the consultant who felt which direction she preferred. You cannot go against my natural tones and determine what colors are best when you place that opinion above all. After several drapes and the opinion moving toward being warm, I was done with the process and celebrated my white pale skin with my pink and blue undertones. Yes, Jennifer I am a beautiful Winter. My daughter in law does not know and I was willing to allow her to go through the process and make her own decision. After the makeup and color draping I was again very upset as she looked ORANGE. Same sort of process as my work colleague went this process with another consultant in a different state. She too knew about color and was made out to be something that she knew was not so. Very expensive process with not correct results.

This week, I had my seasonal color analysis by House of Colour Weatherford (USA). The image consultant, Alyce did a wonderful job and answered all my questions. There was far more to this process than I originally thought, so I now understand the science behind it. I highly recommend House of Colour Weatherford and think everyone should check this out. It was great to learn my power colors and the variety of colors that make me look my best. In my opinion, I think the time and the knowledge given by the consultant is worth every penny. I'm so glad I did this analysis for myself.

The HOC app is not worth the money, absolute waste of time and effort and little received from the consultant on their part and they never add on either despite all the time it takes yourself to upload the information and pictures

Although getting my colours done was an enlightening experience, they gave out paper swatch wallets during the period I had them done. A lot of the swatches are entirely wrong. They even state in their wallet that this is due to printing limitations.

Being a graphic designer, I know that there are no limitations that make it so you can't accurately print a colour. You need to understand how to produce print properly. If not, you should consult with a print professional rather than hand out inaccurate colour wallets while blaming the printers.

It is simply not acceptable for a company that claims to be an expert on colours. I brought this up with HOC, and they did not offer me a new wallet or even money off to purchase an accurate fabric fan.

So here I am with my inaccurate shades 'due to printing limitations.'

I recommend using a company who don't penalise a subset of customers with inaccurate wallets, leading to hundreds of pounds of wasted money over the years.

We had a fantastic COVID friendly review with the Ampthill house of colours consultant Sarah Biancardi-
She spend a considerable time assessing our skin colours / tones and diagnosing what seasons colours were for us. She also taught us which make up colours maximised our look.
There was no hard sell and I got the impression that nothing was too much trouble in making sure that I was happy with the colours for clothes and make up. I would thoroughly recommend this session to anyone. Importantly particularly at the moment Sarah’s attention to hygiene was impeccable.

This company is so bad they do nothing to bring you leads, yet they make you their shop keeper and collect monthly rent, plus percentage of your income. Total scammers they suck your blood and teach everything wrong.. Waste of time and money don't be fooled not a single person calls from their website. this is only making them income through who ever get involled they destroy you only!

A total waste of money. Use your instinct with colours or ask a friend to go shopping and advise on which colours suit you. Save your money and buy a lovely outfit!
