Avoid at all cost

I've stayed in Sitges at least 10 times over the years, we decided to invite my parents this year and go to a little more up market with our accommodation for their comfort. Although the most expensive place we've stayed, it's the poorest quality. The entire pace feels and looks dated and tired, definitely not a 4 star hotel, 2 at the most.
The worst thing of all about the hotel, has to be the breakfast, it's very basic in comparison to all other places we've stayed in Sitges, the breakfast room is a makeshift wedding hall with basic equipment, the limited hot food is in broken Food warmers, cold most of the time, eggs are left to go hard and rubbery, not replaced when needed, tea and coffee facilities are limited too. One basic plastic kettle too boil your own water for tea, and one very slow coffee machine for all residents. When you use the kettle the base falls to the floor as it's plugged into and extension dangling under to table. The toaster doesn't work properly……absolutely horrendous!
Gardeners out every morning at 8am with noisy leaf blower, such a terrible place for the cost!

On checkout, I was offered 71.60Euro (2.4%) of just under 3,000 euro spend for 2 rooms and 4 people, plus 20% off my next visit up to December 2024.
At the time I gracefully checked out as I did not want to upset the lady on reception or other guests with how I felt about this highly insulting offer, as well as the fact that no management had yet contacted me directly!

Our stay at the hotel has been extremely stressful and disappointing, not to mention making one of us ill due to poor quality food and ruining our holiday.

Now that my elderly parents are home, I sent a second email to clearly set out the issues we have had with the hotel and service and to request a refund.

This is the list of issues we experienced while staying at the hotel.

Noisey - no soundproofing between rooms, hearing every noise between floors and Rooms
Leaf blower noise every morning
Plastic disposable water cups for the mini bar
Poor room service, cups not replaced, bedding changed on our last night, not after 3 nights as stated.

Pool
We visited the pool one afternoon, the whole area was littered with dirty dishes and glasses, birds eating the food left on plates
Towels from earlier guests, strewn all over the area
Parasols, dangerous and blown over on top of guests, not weighted down.
Lack of staff, one lazy bar man who did nothing else!

Breakfast Area
Makeshift area, not a dedicated breakfast room for all guests
1 coffee machine for the whole hotel in the room
You have to boil your own water in a normal domestic kettle using mineral water to make tea. Base of the kettle falls on the floor every time you lift the kettle as sockets dangle.
Toasters, you need to toast your bread 3 times for it to toast properly as they are not powerful and sockets overloaded.
Toasters are in the same place as the bread cutting area, so everyone on top of each other
Hot food area 2 small warmers, plugs fall out, again due to poor equipment and the food is stone cold! - many mornings - made me ill! - dangerous for older people
Dead cockroach on the floor
Chair legs rusting
Staff more interested in clearing tables than stocking up with fresh food

The whole set-up is inadequate, dangerous due to overloaded power sockets and not acceptable.

When management did finally respond they threatened me with legal action, stating I was attempting to manipulate or blackmail their establishment because I had requested a refund and because I would be posting this review.

They are part of a chain of businesses in Sitges PicNic Restaurant, Sports Bar and Subur Hotel.
We did try PicNic one evening and the food was not great.

They also threatened to inform all businesses in Sitges about me so they would not do business with us if we come back to stay...I'm wondering who's doing the blackmailing now!
I have reported them to the Catalan complaints council.
Unbelievable.......
