Nice hotel in Malta. Excellent breakfast

A theft from my locked room was denied and not addressed by management. The items, including designer sunglasses , were miraculously uncovered after my departure . The manager refused to send my belongings back to me free of charge and required a fee far in excess of postage rates .
He claims the items were found in a drawer , which is utter nonsense since all drawers etc were thoroughly checked before we left and the items were not ever placed in drawers . A complaint about the manager to head office was merely referred back to this hotel manager to address . Facial !

Hotel BARCELO FORTINA MALTA It is not a 5 star hotel - restaurant - room - balcony - garage - location. We had booked a superior room with front view Valletta city. They put us on the third floor which from the outside is actually the second floor. Because of the hellish noise of traffic and construction work that is still going on at this hotel and every yes every morning 6.00-7.30 a tanker that comes to dump its stuff (desk manager hotel denied) and the swimming pool that plays lounge music all day, this is the swimming pool that seems to belong to the hotel (advertisement photos are a deception) but it is not theirs at all. All this gave us reason to politely ask the management to give us another room because we had already chosen a more expensive option. We submitted this request to them 4 times and each time the response from the management was that this was not possible because they were full. We had booked 12 nights in this hotel and not 3 or 5 nights. We have been on holiday in so many countries and hotels where guests were helped with such requests but NOT at Barceló Fortina Malta. They let you down. So dear people if you think you are booking this hotel and want to enjoy the evening with a drink on your balcony and enjoy the view then you now know what to expect, this management does nothing for you only grab money that is why they are called Fortina Investment. I am still bothered at home by the noise and exhaust fumes that were created on site because they let the buses and trucks run warm for half an hour under your balcony and then all the traffic that passes by to go to the largest shopping centre in Malta. Make a different choice for yourself even though others will claim that they are good and their management will respond to this review that this is not the case. Well I have warned you. For the last time DO NOT BOOK HERE. DO NOT BOOK BARCELO FORTINA MALTA.

Myself and my two young kids booked into this hotel in August 2017.
We had the holiday of a lifetime. The hotel and rooms are spotless. It is well decorated and does not look tatty or rough around the edges in fact it really stands out for looking so sharp. The staff were really good. The large open plan breakfast dining room was superb. from Continental / to English breakfast and every other choice in between. It was a joy to look forward to heading down for breakfast. Facilities in the room were good . Some great moves on for the kids on TV in the evening. The staff at reception, those that made the room up and in the food serving areas were friendly and helpful. The maids did a great job of keeping the room fresh. A choice of two different pool areas. One cooler and really good with a classic bar in the middle. Shaded for part of the day, all pretty new are spotless . Then you have the three pools at the front of the hotel. Wow the view of Valetta is stunning. you couldn't ask for a more fantastic view from the pool. The front pools area if i'm honest does look slightly more worn around the edges but it's real trivia really. The front pool area is a superb suntrap making the pools lovely and warm. We had a really great time, best holiday I have had in a decade. Would I go back there, Yes I will be going back there in the future. Brilliant . So much to do on the Island as well.
